Fixing Wrinkled and Loose Prints, Logos and Sponsors

- I did not really plan on doing this over the weekend, but when the opportunity presented itself, I went for it! Lot's of things on a soccer jersey can be fixed using a baking sheet and an iron: wrinkled prints, logos coming off - even loose lettering and wrinkled crests. I demonstrate it all in this video and yes, I have a little mess-up at the end, as well.

As I so frequently get asked this question, I thought it is worth it to answer it in a comment: In this video I am using baking or parchment paper. However ANY heat resistant paper will do the trick. If you bought a brand new shirt, it typically comes with some heat resistant paper. Keep it and use it for this purpose (or to apply patches etc.)
Always wondered what that bit of paper was
I love him for calling one of his prized jerseys as sparkly. I watched till the very end because of his fun adverb usage.
I have pressed plenty of shirts helping my aunt with her side hustle. Everything you did was on point... Except..
You want to have a lot of pressure and a large area instead of just using the tip. Depending on the ironing board you use if you press with just the tip it will leave a sharper indention into the cushioning of the iron board. This could warp your cut out. If you want it flat, press it flat. You know it'll stay on there forever when you see the dimples of fabric through the cutout depending on how thick it is. If it seems like what you're trying to iron into the shirt is raised from the shirt, you won't be able to see the texture so don't go that far in that situation.
These things are put on hoodies with a giant ironing press that squeezes the stencil sheet with the image in the hoodie together in the most even way possible, even the ironing part of the machine is always, no matter what, parallel to the bottom.
If I did it this way, I would keep my iron as flat as possible and go all the way across in One direction. Then switch directions for half the amount of time. Apply a steady amount of pressure we just one hand. Try not to press so hard that an indention is made in the cushion of the ironing board, check for visible textures, done. If it looks like a spot is missed you can go back and pinpoint it as instructed in this video.
Those are just the few things I would have done different.
Instead of a baking sheet can you use aluminum foil
So cool for people to have tutorials like this! I would add my own tip here: for thick sponsors (like Teka or the Puma logo), it works better with the shirt inside out as the iron will directly work on the unstuck surface. Also, using a rough surface (like a big hard book or a cutting board) is better than a soft ironing board, as it replicates the effect of a professional printing machine 😁
Thanks for the nice words and especially for your input. I have to try this as t makes a lot of sense. :)
@@MySoccerUniverse what kind of paper are this plz tell me sir
@@MdRehan-oo3dw Any heat resistant paper! I have used baking/parchment paper used in cooking and readily available in grocery stores, but frequently brand new jerseys come with some paper that can also be used.
@@MySoccerUniverseI have kappa shorts there polyester can I iron the label back on
you are the best. this whole time i was sticking the prints with 3 second stick. this blew my mind i just tried it and it worked on all my t shirts, damn this whole time i could stick the print with my iron.
Thank you and you are very welcome! Glad it worked for you!!!
3 years and this is still usefull ❤
Hi there! I just found your video and decided to try and fix two of my footy shirts and it worked. Thanks for this vid!
I am very happy that I could help you! Thanks for letting me know! :)
thank you so so much man! I copied what you did and saved 2 jerseys with badly printed numbers :) you ROCK!!!
I am very glad that my video was useful for you! :)
Totally helpful video
Thank you for sharing this! I was able to fix one of my sweatshirts because my vinyl was wrinkled.
Glad I could help! :)
Great video, thanks
Great video mate!!! , really clear and easy to understand. Love the use of the words such as “patient” haha. Felt bad for you with the “Nesta” print going on to the Italy jersey, however had me in stitches laughing lol. I am interested that happend. I suppose when you took the baking paper of the “Nesta” it must have stuck and then transferred back to Italy jersey
Thanks and I am glad you liked the video! Yes, I made the mistake of putting the wrong side of the baking paper on the jersey. The print material on that one was quite cheap as I have since never observed any print sticking to the paper. But lesson learned. I actually think (have not tried it yet) that with some nail polish remover, the accidental print might come off.
THANK YOU SOO MUCH YOUR LOGO PRESS STUFF WAS AWESOME I USED NORMAL PAPER BUT TWO SHEETS IT WORKED
Great to hear!
Thanks so much for this video! I bought a hoodie I really wanted but the design was badly printed and this video helped me fix it❤️(also used your hard cover book tip from the comments and it turned out great)
Glad I could help!😊
useful video, my little brother will be so happy today
Thanks for enjoying this video! Glad it proves useful to you!
gr8 vid bud! it actually works:)) keep going
Thanks! Glad it worked! :)
This worked for my Jordans THANKS!
Great to hear! :)
Great video. I could not find baking sheets in my local supermarket. I purchased parchment paper though. You think park net paper will work?
Thanks for the nice words! Yes, parchment paper should work (I think this is the same as baking paper as far as I can remember - I just get English and German a bit mixed up in this case) - any heat resistant paper will work in fact.
Very helpful. I can tell you love Italian football
Thank you very much! I am glad you found the video useful. And yes, I definitely have a passion for calcio in general and Milan in particular. :)
Good job
Would this work for my jerseys FIFA Champions Badge? It’s embroidered onto the shirt (2014 Germany home). Has some wrinkling onto it and I just want to know if ironing it would do the trick because it is made of cotton.
Yes, it should work just fine. I have ironed out quite a few wrinkled crests and patches (if it isn’t too bad). There is still a slight crease in the crest of the old Italy shirt.
Hey! Great video. What are those puma cat logos made of? Looks like a type of foam patch?
Thanks a lot! Very happy you liked it. The puma logos are made of some silicone material and are rather thick. Unfortunately, they did not stay on for long and I made another video of a further attempt of sticking them on: ua-cam.com/video/aOw12CNJ1kQ/v-deo.html Alas, it was another failure, but I got good feedback and I am not giving up yet!
Hey have a question have a real madrid player issue jersey who's club crest and adidas sponsor is little bit coming off also the chest sponsor(fly emirates) is a bit coming off so i wanted to know what setting should i use the iron and for how much time... Also what precautions should i take so that i don't burn the sponsor or the club crest or the adidas sponsor as all are rubber? And can i use a hand towel in place of paper?
Try first with a delicate setting and if it does not work, then slowly increase the temperature. You could use a hand towel, but the parchment paper (or any other heat-resistant paper) is the best choice. Also, make sure to have a solid surface under and apply enough pressure. As for precautions, you can always turn the shirt inside out. Of course, if the glue has worn off (as it did for the Puma logos on my Austria shirt), it may not last for long.
Should I also do this for my jerseys badge? It is wrinkled. (Germany 2014 Jersey, the badge is made of a plastic-like material) I’m a bit scared if it will melt, so is there anything I can do?
Should work for a plastic patch, as well. I have tried it on creased ones and if you use the protective paper, then no worries.
Thank you very much 🙏
Two questions, does this permanently fix the jerseys?
Also, should I do this as soon as I get one to prevent falling before it starts?
Thanks in advance!
You may have to repeat that procedure from time to time - esp. in cases where the glue has already worn off (i.e. the application has been loose for a while). The wrinkles in the fabric usually disappear for good, though. I would only do it if you see that the numbers/Sponsors don't look crisp anymore.
Hey, just wondering were you able to remove the Nesta print from the Italy jersey? Something similar happened to me when I tried it so just wondering if there's a way to fix it 😅😅
No, I have not tried to remove it yet - although washing it repeatedly might help. :P In all seriousness, there is a way by either carefully applying a hot iron directly onto the print (not on the jersey though) and slowly peel it off or with pure aceton, which might be more effective, but also more unhealthy. But I have not tried either of these methods myself so far.
Hi! I have a few jerseys with the sponsors/numbers became sticky. Can I fix them or take off?
It is possible. I have not tried it myself (otherwise there would be video on it already), but there are few videos on this topic on UA-cam. Seems like going with pure acetone works best, but it can also be achieved by carefully applying a hot iron. Here is one of these: ua-cam.com/video/6hbBEpcRZpQ/v-deo.html
I have the 2008 Italy home shirt which uses the exact same template as your Austria shirt. The number and name have not help up well, and I am actually interested in removing them rather than trying to fix them. Do you have any way of doing this?
I have seen other videos that explain how to do remove names and number prints, but I am asking you specifically since I am pleasantly surprised to find that a person making videos on repairing Jersey prints also owns one of these Euro 2008 puma shirts. Unlike all the other videos that I have seen, the shirts they work with are normal polyester while this Italy shirt, and your Austria shirt, have a really interesting mesh layer that the front number is printed on.
Honestly, I have not tried to remove any nameset yet and I think it will not go much different for these EURO 2008 shirts than for the other ones. I have been told that before taking the number off, repeatedly washing the shirt is of help to really damage the number and only have a few vestiges left to remove. I think the mesh layer should make it easier to get them off though.
For some reason I was thinking about my 2016 Austria home kit that I bought in Vienna and had to have to number replaced in 2021 because the original had degraded. My local soccer store used a chemical that left a stain and said it should come out in the wash, but it didn’t. I just checked the kit now and the inner neck tape is degrading (become sticky). What should I do?
Difficult. Numbers always leave a stain and you may have to work manually on it (toothbrush etc.) As for the sticky tag, I have the same problem with quite a few shirts, but no solution (except to remove it similarly).
Hey, did you find any solution to fixing the nesta shirt? I have sameproblems where some small parts of the number is missing. Maybe you can fill in with something to make it look real?
No, I have not found a solution yet on that. I m contemplating removing the print altogether and have a "ghosted" Nesta name set. I am afraid that even using some color on there will not look good as you not only would have to match the color quite well, but also it may not withstand a wash...
Can you also use the iron technique on old felt sponsors?
Not 100% sure. I think it depends on how much glue is left. But it is worth a try as this method will not ruin that sponsor.
great video bro, any suggestion on where to find the letters or patches
Try Football Authentica or subside. The former has the better collection, but also crappy customer service if you need it.
Wow you have Real Madrid classic jersey would you have some Fenerbahçe players name and number is Roberto Carlos 3 or Nicolas Anelka 19 or Elvir Balic 20?
No, the shirt is without any print as you can see here: ua-cam.com/video/A0IjvsIZEZM/v-deo.html Also, I don't have a Fenerbahce jersey yet, but that might change soonish. :)
I tried this with the peeling RM logo on one of my jerseys and I slightly melted the vinyl, do you know if there is a way to buy a replacement or is it best to leave it as it is?
I am afraid you have to leave it as is. Not sure if there are any replacement logos for sale.
Hi, I have a Bayern Munich 2020/21 jersey and want to take off the Qatar Airways sponsor on the sleeve so I can put on my champions league patches. How do I iron off the sleeve sponsor?
I have not done it myself (yet), but there are some videos on UA-cam demonstrating how it is done, like this one: ua-cam.com/video/6hbBEpcRZpQ/v-deo.html But most likely there will still be some glue leftover.
Hello
What is usually the white material on the football jersey Is like a Logo on front a most ?
Thank you
Do you mean the sponsor? Nowadays, these are mostly a plastic transfer. On a 90s shirt or sooner you also got flock materials and foam lettering.
Can you use this method on any normal t-shirt? For example I have a t-shit in cotton. It has a white puma logo. After machine wash, white flaky marks appeared. And now the logo is discoloured
I have no experience with cotton shirts, but it could/should work.
I wonder why the same
Thing that happened with Nesta print on the Italy jersey didn’t happen on the Nesta jersey , as I would have thought the red might transfer to the white fabric.
The print was coated, so no color was transferred onto the paper - otherwise I would have seen it. Also, I did not move the paper too much and thus nothing really happened.
I have a question if I did this and then later on wash it would it still be good? Also Great video 😊
Thanks for the nice words! To answer your question, it does depend on how much glue is left on the print/logo. For instance, the Puma logos on the red Austria shirt tend to come off as the glue is more or less gone (and washing will make it worse). I would recommend a simple hand wash for repaired shirts.
This is a very nice method but if you wash the jerseys, will the numbers and sponsors peel again?
Eventually they will - esp. if the glue is already quite thin. It is more of an issue with numbers. If the fabric glue already has worn off then there is very little to hold on to. It may be better in these cases to take off the number and reapply a new set (or leave it ghosted which also has some appeal).
Hi! Just found this video and i wanted to ask, is there anything else i can use instead of baking paper?
Hi, you can use any heat resistant paper. A thin towel could do the trick as well, but it is not as good as paper. Also, I have recently learned that a hard surface (like a book) delivers better results.
@@MySoccerUniverse thank you!!
what about if you got the cracks and wrinkles out and you wash it again will the cracks and wrinkles appear again?
Typically, some wrinkles will appear again after washing and you gotta iron again. But be aware that this procedure does not magically make the prints new again. At this time you are likely at a point where the shirt should slowly enter its "museum stage".
How do i fix thick ucl star batch? Its little peeled off, Do i need to apply sort of gum to reprint it or should i directly patch it?
If it is slightly peeled off, you should be able to iron it on again. But an even better solution would be to find someone to sew it on for you. I had this done on three on a few jerseys (my mother graciously agreed to do it) and I don't worry about them peeling anymore.
@@MySoccerUniverse but that ruins the fabric right? Cause I've got this season vaporknit jersey and if you know about its material i don't think sewing is great idea
@@illshowyouwanderlust5204 I do not own a vaporknit shirt but have checked them out in a local store. I cannot really see how a few stitches would ruin the fabric, but in the end it is your call as I do not have a lot of experience there. All I can say is that I had patches sewn onto stretchy shirts and it was not a problem.
Can foil work or the paper that comes with new shoes work I don’t have baking paper
The shoe paper should do the trick. Would not want to try it with foil. However, you can get baking paper in any grocery store.
Will this work on a black t shirt, or will it melt the wax on it and stain
It should work as well as long as the glue is still present. But I am not 100% as I never have tried this with a T-shirt.
Hey i tried to iron my football jersey with the help of a butter paper , but while ironing the butter paper got stuck with the jersey and when I tried to remove it damaged my jersey .So what to do ?
I am sorry to hear that. I am afraid there is not much that I can tell you to do in this situation.
Hello, could you tell me how to repair the colour of the stamp? I washed the tshirt 90 celsuis and it faded away ..
I have no experience with that, but the the colour is most likely gone. Some experts (like FutPrint on Instagram) would try to remove it and then apply a new version.
the strips of 2 adidas tshirt unstuck i will try this and maybe i can save them? thank u for the advice, greetings from argentina ;)
It may work if there is some glue left. If they re-attach, I would recommend to not wear the shirt again - at least not a lot and only do hand wash. Greetings back from Austria. :)
Great video! Can we still wash them on the Washing Machine?
Of course, you can! You only need to be careful with prints and sponsors. Here are my "care instructions" (or at least what I do): ua-cam.com/video/bhtKmH5nIFw/v-deo.html
lets go ivory coast!
Thanks a lot really❤️ but what if some part of the words fallen any clue?? It irritates me and I cannot go out with it
You are very welcome! As for missing letters, I can see four options - neither of which I have tried, but I have at least heard of. The first (and more brutal) one would be to remove the entire lettering. Some remains will still be visible, but it will look more like a ghosted name set - there are plenty of videos on UA-cam detailing this process. The second option would be based on the first solution: after you removed the name set, you buy a replacement and iron it on. Or you get the missing letters and iron them on - but here be careful that they are properly positioned. The third (and most complicated) option could apply if you still have the missing letters. I have heard that you could buy fabric glue sheets, where you trace the letters on the glue sheet and then iron them on. However, if this all seems too much work, there are some really crafty people (esp. in the UK) who do shirt repairs as a side hustle. I currently have my first shirt repaired that way by FutPrint (you can find him on Instagram). But there are others out there. I hope any of this can help.
Question: If ever the words on the shirt cracks or wrinkles again, can we repeat this process again and again?
Theoretically yes, but if you have wrinkles and cracks over and over again, the material will deteriorate. Nothing lasts forever, unfortunately.
What if there isn't enough glue under the logos? Is ironing still enough or we should apply any glue before?
Unfortunately, it will not last. The glue under the Puma logos of the Austria shirt was so limited that meanwhile the logos are all off.
Same problem here with nike patch on Liverpool jersey
Is there any other way to fix this or which glue should i have to buy to fix
@@MySoccerUniverse bro plz reply
@@laximanshirodkar1122 I have very limited experience there. A friend of mine says that one could buy fabric glue sheets and carefully trace the shape of the logo, remove the superfluous parts and then place it between the logo and the shirt and iron over it. But I have never tried that.
🐐
what kind of paper are you using ?
Simple baking paper. It is heat resistant and thus does the job
Im trying this on my Inter Miami shirt and its not working :( the crown on the front of the shirt is peeling and I tried an iron with parchment paper but it’s not sticking any other methods??
have you tried putting plastic behind it?
It seems the glue has gone. Have you worn it a lot? I assume you are talking about the 2024 version. If yes, this is odd since sponsors on Adidas hold on for a long time. Could it be a knock off?
@@MySoccerUniverse I got it just recently for $130 from Lids at the mall near me
@@AurelioBarajasJr It may be worth it to go back to the mall and ask if they can heat press it for you. Sometimes, the iron does not produce enough heat. The not sticking part though has me a bit worried.
Great video - would be awesome if you did one on how to remove sponsors! I'm a Leed united supported but hate that the have a gambling company on their shirt. Would love to remove it!
Thanks! I have not yet removed a sponsor, but there are quite few videos on UA-cam of how to do that with Acetone. But there will always be some vestiges unless you spend countless of hours. There is also a flock removal spray on Amazon that could work wonders.
What do we do for reflective logos?
Honestly, I do not have much experience with those. Most of these though are also glued/ironed onto the shirt, but I would be worried about the reflectivity.
I don’t have baking sheet what else can you use
Any heat resistant paper will do.
And would this work with any jersey? Real or a copy/fake one?
Yes, it should work with any jersey as long as it is made from polyester.
@@MySoccerUniverse okay great, Thank you!
What is the name of product that you use before you put an iron?
Parchment or baking paper. Any heat resistant paper will do though (like the one you often get delivered when you buy shirts brand new).
Does just normal paper also works?
No, as it likely will burn due to the heat. So, you will need some sort of heat resistant paper.
Please can you show how to remove the bagdes/patches ? What's the safest way?
Hmm, I never had to do this for now and I am not quite sure how I wold proceed there. Sorry. Maybe in the future this will come up as a topic for a new video.
Acetone can do this. Check my videos out
My AFA logo is coming off...the glue is also completely dry.... what should i do....pls help
If there is no glue left, I would suggest having it sewn on. That is typically the best way to keep things in place. :)
Same method can be used for hoodies?
As long as there is sufficient glue on the patches left, then yes. However, since jerseys are made of polyester, it does tend to melt a bit more under the heat.
Do you have the 10-11 barca home jersey for sale?
No, I typically do not sell any of my jerseys.
Can i restore the Nike's pilling out logo edges?
I think this is a difficult one that requires skill (that I don’t have). I think you would have to carefully smooth the edges and then apply a clear glue over the logo as a protective layer.
which paper you are using ?
As I have mentioned in the comments below, any heat resistant paper will do. In the video, I used baking (or parchment) paper. But even better would be to use the paper that comes with new shirts.
can i use regular bond paper ?
As long as it is heat resistant, you should be fine.
What kind of plastic did you use
I used a baking sheet - no plastic
What if rubber print? It's still work?
Should work just fine
whats the paper you are using
I am using parchment paper used for baking (available at any grocery store). But any heat resistant paper will do (like the one that often comes with new shirts).
My Germany badge is coming off. Why is that? Same with the stars 🙂
Would be interesting which Germany shirt you have and what material the badges are made of. I am assuming it is a silicone heat transfer. In these cases, repeated wear and esp. washing will end up wearing down the glue and unless you carefully apply fabric glue, this is hard to fix. In order to keep jerseys in good condition, either hand wash them or only use a very short cycle in the machine.
Do that was butter paper plzz tell
Baking paper! Anything heat resistant will do
Can u use tracing paper
You can use any heat-resistant paper. The important part is that the hear of the iron does not cause to get burns as this is going to damage your shirt.
can i use wax paper?
Any heat resistant paper should do! You do not want the iron to burn through the paper.
What kind of paper is that ??
Parchment paper. You use it for baking and can get it at any grocery store. But you can use any heat resistant paper. I you buy new jerseys, they are frequently packaged with proper paper.
What kind of paper is that?
Baking or parchment paper. But any heat resistant paper will do
What is called of that plastic
It is parchment paper, but any heat resistant paper will do.
What is this paper called??
Please, check the comments.
Can this work on a normal shirt
Yes, it should also work

Yes, that is true. Also note how sponsors are typically more resilient than namesets!
Bro which paper is this
Dude, check the comments!
can i use normal paper?
Baking paper is more heat resistant. You don’t want your paper to catch fire and then cause damage! Typically shirts are often delivered with paper suitable for the job, as well! 😊
@@MySoccerUniverse is there other paper material i can use other than baking paper?
@@francizzurag3397 As I alluded to in my previous reply, any paper that is heat resistant, but I am not a paper expert, so I cannot really point you to another product. As baking paper is easily available and inexpensive it is what I used and it worked.
Can i use an ordinary paper?
No, it is not heat resistant and the hot iron may burn through it.
@@MySoccerUniverse so what paper is that? If ever i want to buy
In the video, I used parchment paper (the type you use for baking food in the oven), which does the job well (heat resistant up until 200 C typically). These days new jerseys typically come also wrapped in heat resistant paper which can be used for that purpose, as well.
Someone please tell me is he using perchment paper
Yes, parchment paper - plenty of comments here that make that clear 😉
Can I use paper
Better to use paper that is heat-resistant. You don’t want burns on your shirt!
How about wrinkled dri fits?
Should work all the same. Just use a baking sheet and the like between the iron and the shirt. But if the wrinkles are not too bad, maybe try to wash the shirt and let it hang for a few days. The wrinkles may disappear by themselves. ;)
can i use a towel
I have not tried it, so I can’t really say. Sorry 😞
Nike puff jacket ?
It may work, but I cannot say for sure.
Did you try it ? whats the result ?
You sound like a mix of : Stewie Griffin/Niko belic/& Syrio forrell
Not sure what to make of that comment as I do not know any of these gentlemen. I am going to take it as a compliment. :)
