Hi thank you for the video, In case you would know the Douk little bear amp/speakers splitter, it would be awesome and I would then have a question, if you find the time, about the connections with this device (Little Bear). How would I do it if my source is a computer, which I connect an amp to (say the T9) ? How would I connect a second amp (say SMSL DA-9), to my computer (acting as a content playing source) before adding it to the little bear ?? Any insight welcome, because how do you share a single audio source with two amps? I find it confusing, what about the shared audio source for the two amps one would want want to compare in real time using the splitter (little bear) ? How can the two amps be connected to the same source to be compared to start with, be it a PC, CD transport, streamer-DAC, etc. ?. Something I don't get, since, apparently, you can't connect a common audio source to the little bear. Very lost here, but relatively new to the hobbie (and dumb, don't forget dumb)...
Hey man, I have a Sony home theater from 2001 and it has two types of ports. One is 4 RCA (2 left and 2 right channels) and the Other one is on the 4:30 Timestamp. I have Aiwa speakers (around the same release year as my home theater). They have a low, humming noise on the low Volume. Which type of connector would be the best in this case? Would banana connectors be the best option or I should buy different pair of speakers which have separate separate copper wire? And by the way my home theater is either 2.0 or 2.1.
Good stuff for a dummy like me, last time I wired up stereo kit was in the 70's particularly helpful with the bi-wire and the bars on the speakers, thanks Ted
Question ,I have a Pyle HD reciver and a pair of tower speakers. I bought a 75 inch TV and I didn't bother to hook up my system to my TV or 4k player for about a month. Now when I had my system hooked up to my older 70 inch TV everything was good and now a month later I hooked everything up to my new TV and right tower speaker is making a crackling popping sound. So I got a new speaker wire thinking that's the problem I hooked up the new wire to my speaker same problem. Then I checked my reciver and determined that the right channel speaker hook up on my Pyle reciver is broke because I hooked up my tower speaker to the left speaker channel on the reciver and it sounds ok.. Do U think I made the right determination that the right channel speaker connection is broke or maybe there's a lose wire inside of my reciver speaker right channel hook up ? 🤔 and if the Reciver is the problem should I just buy a new one or is it worth just having it repaired ? 🤔 BTW when I bought the reciver 11 months ago it cost me $400 dollars. I'm not sure if it will cost say $200 to fix it. Hopefully I made sense in all that I said to U 🤔 and Thank U for your time. PS WHEN I SAY SPEAKER CHANNEL I MEAN SPEAKER INPUT ON THE RECIVER again Thanks Techno Daddy
Hey man. I followed your video and thanks a lot, I managed to feed the twisted copper wires into the amp terminal but it is way louder in one speaker than the other. Any ideas on what this is?
Yeah it’s an old amp but it was working fine, but I had to unconnect them as I wired the left speaker to the right and visa versa. Only when I tried connecting them again was there a problem.
Awesome video 🔥 I’ve been searching around UA-cam for how to connect some JBL Control 5s. Can you help me out? I’m trying to find some affordable amps/receiver to power these suckers - apparent info 4 ohms 175W are important in deciding an amp, idk. My older brother gave them to me so I can hear my beats made from my laptop. Any help would be appreciated 🎉
Good vid. Quick tip with spade connectors (when they're at an awkward angle) - use a pair of pliers or a clamp to gently bend the spade to the correct angle.
hi techno dad! Im having some issues troubleshooting my speaker/amp set up. Not sure if you do any sort of consulting but... I have pioneer cs-99 hand me downs and a nikko sta-2020. I think I can only use a bare wire set up for both. One of my speakers is always cutting in and out, and can't hold a steady level. I'm wondering if my amp is incompatible with my speakers or if I wired it crappy. Any guidance is helpful, thank you!
A question to something i cannot find on the net. In an audio system , i am thinking to take out the original speakers (L/R) and use a Bluetooth hi quality speaker Harman Kardon Onyx. But i don't want to use it wireless. Now, i see 2 options, or to connect the speaker on the jack for headphones (it works) or somehow (?) to connect it to the two female RCA L & R. Is there any difference between these two options for the sound quality???? Because if there is no difference to follow the easier way with the jack socket that gives out for the headphones. Thank you,
Hi! If there’s a physical input on those Onyx speakers, then it could be possible. I looked on their site and there were a few different ones. I didn’t really see an input on the pictures.
@@TechnoDad there is jack socket input for the onyx. But to what I ask about difference in the sound quality between hi-fi speakers out l/r and jack socket out, what do you think?
Great video. Where were you when I was first attempting to connect them as a Newbie? Have a feeling I fried my speakers. Oh well, now I know where to go for info. Awesome to now be able to go buy connectors and know what I'm looking for.
I want to ask. I have an onkyo 7.1 channels and attached here with was the modular bose acoustimass 10 series iv. It is just 5.1 home theatre. Is it fine if I buy another 2 cube speakers or any other speakers that I will add on and connect them directly from the reciever? Thank you.
Hello. I just bought a refurbished teac 5 cd changer. Could you recommend me a good amp that wouldn't be a waste of $$, but also a strong component for the cd player? Thanks!
Is there a way or even need to connect a DAC to a receiver? Is the receivers built in DAC better to just use? I was just given a Schiit Lyr 2 and am doing some hwk on this.
You can bypass the internal AVR DAC by using the Schiit to change the signal from digital to analog. Meaning, you would go from your source to the Schiit in the digital domain and then use analog cables to go to the AVR.
Hi there I have just got a yamaha rx a1060 avr receiver and I have never used one before and I have got a pair of B&W 685 s2 speakers and a b&w hm62 s2 front centre speaker and yesterday the center one was working fine and today its not working so I have put the cables into another binding post on the avr and it works. Have I touched something on the avr. Please can you give me any advice thanks Jamie
thanks this video is helping me understand speakers, my dad has a bunch of speakers laying around that he used to play around with and i wanted to use them again
I use 24K Gold Nakamichi Speaker Banana Plugs. You can buy 8 of them for $9. I’ve used them for years and all my connections are still good. Heat shrink speaker wire pants can help prevent oxidation from any air getting in.
I have a cheap Yamaha active sub with a single RCA input. My amp has no RCA sub output, but it does have a subwoofer speaker input. If I buy an RCA to speaker wire adapter, will I be able to hook up my sub using banana plugs?
Techno Dad, Do you know if using stiff pin connectors on a speaker with spring or clip loading inputs works? Or do you have to use the raw wire or flexible pins on the spring loaded/clip loading speaker inputs? Thanks!
Very well explained video tutorial. Would you say that attaching banana plugs to bare copper wire cables for attachment to speakers is better than just a bare wire connected to the speaker..? In short, would there be an improvement in sound quality? Finally, the shorter the speaker cable, means a superior ( better...) quality of sound, am I correct? Many thanks!
As far as biamping, I have a pioneer elete vsx80 with paradigm studio 60 v.3 front towers in my theater if I didn't want to buy a new receiver & my front towers are under powered is biamping a good way to go??
I have a question so my dad bought a PSW S4 and he wants me to set it up to his RCA Stereo do i connect the psw speaker directly to the rca stereo receiver; replacing the Original RCA speaker that came with it or do i have to do something specific or is it not possible?
Thank you for this all in one clip. It is very helpful. The AVR I got has the type of posts as seen here (fast forward to 5:35 in your video). It’s so hard to get my fingers in there and I don’t fancy that type of connection. Is there any tips or alternate ways you could suggest. Can we use those flexible tip plugs instead.

Techno Dad! help me! I have the speakers and sub from a home theater system that fried a while back. I want to connect the speaker system to my Insignia Roku TV. Is there a special box I can connect the speakers to that has a RCA or Aux jack that connects to my TV? The speaker wires don't have connections and are raw wires. What do you suggest?

I have a set of Wharfdale Diamond 9.1 speakers . Can you show me where I put the cables for left and right please . Not used to seeing 2 sets of red and black connectors
Oh, if it has dual binding posts on the back, that's for bi-amp or bi-wire of your speakers. Just make sure the metal jumper is connected and connect just one pair of speaker wire.
Hey, can you help, I have 2 center speakers but only 1 port on reciever for 1 I have them vertical each side my tv. Could I possibly use 1 port for both speakers
@TechnoDad I have 2 jbl stage A135c vertical on the wall each side my tv. I also have 3 floor standing speakers in 3 corners, front left front right and back left corner.. I have 2 subs and 2 bookshelf.. my avr reciever denon AVR-X1700H.. I cannot have 1 center speaker above or below my tv so I need help trying to set these up best way possible.. I was thinking about using the back left floorstanding speaker jbl stage A190 as a center?
Or have my front right floorstanding speaker as my center as its pointing to my seating position straight towards me then have the back left floorstanding speaker as my front right
So please help me here. I have just got a second hand onkyo tx sr 606 avr receiver and I have never used one before and I have got a second hand pair of B&W p4 floor standing speakers but they don't have any clip or bridges on the back where the binding posts are. I was told that I just need to get some regular speaker cable and then from the avr to the speakers split the cable at the end and go through the top positive to the bottom positive and the same with the negative.. I'm lost then someone says I need a piece of wire to go between the two sides.. What do I need to do please.
Great video, learned a lot .. but not enough! Hence this question: I got a class D amp for stereo speakers and wanted to connect one of RELs subs to it , they highly recommend doing it with their high level connection, and to do that they recommend cutting the wire it comes with and attacking one to the right positive and one to the left positive. Question, can I just twist in their high level connection wires into this wire and then plug in the resulting “bundle” into the ports? Am I gonna blow up my equipment or pull off their recommendation?
Hi! I made a video about connecting a REL subwoofer via hi-level connections - ua-cam.com/video/4yMdZbOMDZc/v-deo.html - as far as if you'll blow up your equipment...I would contact REL to make sure you won't have any issues.
We just purchased a house that has an integrated speaker system. What do we need to buy to plug all of the wires into? How thick should be the wire for a good sound? My cables are much thinner than the Monster one you have, and was wondering if it is ok?
Thank you, this was so clear & concise.
I have marshall speakers, all are different models, and I have amp as well.
Are the Bannana plugs universal for the speakers? Ive never done this before 😅😅
The instructions recomend spade connectors for the amp but speakers can only take the Bannana plugs
Hi! Banana plugs should work for most speaker terminals with binding posts. You can find cables that have spade on one end and banana on the other - amzn.to/3sibkyK - amzn.to/40jpJai
Hello Techno Dad and thanks to taking your time to teach us. I Would like to ask about speaker active and amplifier , can I connect both together?
On my way to upgrade my basic Denon 5.1 1610 AVR. Either I go for an AVR + ext amp or processor + amp. Looking at cost vs performance, what do you suggest? I like your option of the 3 channel amp for the LCR channel.
Hi. I’ve just got some elac debut b6.2 speakers. I have a topaz am10 amplifier. What lead do I need to connect these? Richie
Banana or bare wire should work.
Amazing!! Thank you so much, you make everything look great. We never finish to learn in life! Thank you for your help
You're very welcome!
11:04 can someone here pleaae help me. I am looking for amplifer and I found out about AIYIAM amplfier which has line out port in amplifier which can connect another amp for active subwoofer. I have sony sibwoofer from old dvd home theather systmer which has two pin connector aimilar to this time stamp. Now how to connect that woofer to the line out port?
Hi I have a question, I am interested in building a fully balanced audio system. Nowhere can I seem to find how the slur connector looks on the other end where it connects to a speaker. How does that look?
I'm not even sure what that means! I've never heard of a "slur connector."
Excellent tutorial. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
@@TechnoDad It was. Again, thank you.
At 13:24, where do I plug in my speaker wire into? Just got some Klipsch RP-6000f and not sure if it matters which ones I plug it into. Low frequency or high frequency?
I'm glad you found my video, Ted!
Thanks for the video. Looking forward to learning more here. I just hooked up a vintage Kenwood receiver and tuner using some KEF speakers.
Nice! I'm glad you found the video!
PS
WHEN I SAY SPEAKER CHANNEL I MEAN SPEAKER INPUT ON THE RECIVER
again Thanks Techno Daddy
Hey man. I followed your video and thanks a lot, I managed to feed the twisted copper wires into the amp terminal but it is way louder in one speaker than the other. Any ideas on what this is?
Hi! I’m not sure why that would happen. Is it an old amp or something?
Yeah it’s an old amp but it was working fine, but I had to unconnect them as I wired the left speaker to the right and visa versa. Only when I tried connecting them again was there a problem.
Thank You! Your video was really useful.
You are very welcome, thank you for watching!
Awesome video 🔥
I’ve been searching around UA-cam for how to connect some JBL Control 5s.
That's a great idea!
thank you so much this helped so much! got to finally set up my speakers!!
hi techno dad!
Yes, I do consulting, email me - TechnoDad55 at gmail dot com
I hope your speakers aren't fried!! I would always recommend banana plugs for all speaker wire connections.
@@TechnoDad is it worth doing this?
This guy explained everything. Pretty good video!
Thank you so much for watching, Sam!
1:54 “We just need a quick little snip of the tip right there” and that laugh after lmaoooo I love this guy
thanks this video is helping me understand speakers, my dad has a bunch of speakers laying around that he used to play around with and i wanted to use them again
Ha ha ha ha 4 years and your videos are still up and Poppin. You must have the Midas touch Channa D.
This is my most viewed video!!!
You have no idea how long I have looked for this as a first time stereo system buyer
Hi Daniel! I'm glad you found the video!
I use 24K Gold Nakamichi Speaker Banana Plugs. You can buy 8 of them for $9. I’ve used them for years and all my connections are still good. Heat shrink speaker wire pants can help prevent oxidation from any air getting in.
most helpful video i’ve seen. Have been trying to figure something out for a while and this was the perfect vid for it
Thank you Logan for the kind words. I’m so glad you found the video!
I have a cheap Yamaha active sub with a single RCA input. My amp has no RCA sub output, but it does have a subwoofer speaker input. If I buy an RCA to speaker wire adapter, will I be able to hook up my sub using banana plugs?
Thanks! I wasn't sure how to get the terminals on the back of the receiver attached.
Hi is there anyway I can use my sub to a soundbar? But the sub is an old model? Need help please 🙏
Techno Dad, Do you know if using stiff pin connectors on a speaker with spring or clip loading inputs works? Or do you have to use the raw wire or flexible pins on the spring loaded/clip loading speaker inputs? Thanks!
It would probably work. But it’s a better solid connection if u use bare wire
Awesome, thank you
Very well explained video tutorial.
I use banana plugs mostly. So if you can fit those, it'll be a lot easier.
@@TechnoDad I don’t think it is possible (there is a cap on that end) to insert a banana plug from the top end. Do you mean to use a banana plug side ways?
Those could be removable
Thank you, I really like the Banana Clips
Nice explanation 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you!
Techno Dad!
Hey. You made it looks so easy. I'm from Jamaica. I bought a Sony stereo receiver str-DH 190 without hdmi insert and it's driving me nuts to connect to my Camden surround sound and to my TV. Please help!!!
@Techno Dad
How do i make a simple setup with a LAV mic and stereo speakers
I have a set of Wharfdale Diamond 9.1 speakers . Can you show me where I put the cables for left and right please . Not used to seeing 2 sets of red and black connectors
Oh, if it has dual binding posts on the back, that's for bi-amp or bi-wire of your speakers. Just make sure the metal jumper is connected and connect just one pair of speaker wire.
@@TechnoDad but which set 🤔.. the top or the bottom
sweet video. thanks for the easy tutorial.
Glad you liked it!
Hey, can you help, I have 2 center speakers but only 1 port on reciever for 1 I have them vertical each side my tv. Could I possibly use 1 port for both speakers
I would not do that. Do you have a speaker on either side of the TV? Those should be your front left & right speakers.
@TechnoDad hi thanks for the reply, yes I have 2 center speakers and also L/R speakers. Could I possibly use the surround L/R for my 2 center speakers
Or have my front right floorstanding speaker as my center as its pointing to my seating position straight towards me then have the back left floorstanding speaker as my front right
Thanks man, you helped me to connect my speakers to the amp.

Hello I have the R-625FA klipsch speaker and it has two red and black connections can you explain me how to conect them to my av receiver please?
So please help me here. I have just got a second hand onkyo tx sr 606 avr receiver and I have never used one before and I have got a second hand pair of B&W p4 floor standing speakers but they don't have any clip or bridges on the back where the binding posts are. I was told that I just need to get some regular speaker cable and then from the avr to the speakers split the cable at the end and go through the top positive to the bottom positive and the same with the negative.. I'm lost then someone says I need a piece of wire to go between the two sides.. What do I need to do please.
Oh, just get some bi-wire cables - technodad.biz/BiWire
@@TechnoDad so if I bought bi wired cables then will I need the bridge bar terminals?

Great video, learned a lot .. but not enough! Hence this question:
I got a class D amp for stereo speakers and wanted to connect one of RELs subs to it , they highly recommend doing it with their high level connection, and to do that they recommend cutting the wire it comes with and attacking one to the right positive and one to the left positive.
@@TechnoDad thanks a lot buddy , that video was exactly what I was looking for.

We just purchased a house that has an integrated speaker system. What do we need to buy to plug all of the wires into? There seem to be 4 wires for each room with speakers inside and outside of the house. There’s no way we can plug all of these wires into a regular stereo. My husband and I are not tech savvy and would appreciate any help. You’re very easy to understand and I’m fairly certain I could follow any advice given. Thanks in advance. Blessings!

hi techno dad, i have a marantz 8012 receiver and I'm using banana plugs on all of my binding posts, for some reason i lose the signal from my height 1 left binding post about every two weeks, after I unplug the banana plugs from the terminal and connect it back to the receiver the sound returns to the speaker and everything works perfectly again,i don't have this problem with the the other binding posts and all the other speakers works flawlessly. Do have an idea on what can be the problem? Can the receiver be damaged? Even though it works perfectly for days until this problem occurs?
thanks
Hi, that sounds very strange. I would contact Marantz support to see if something is wrong with the receiver.
