So far you have explained more then I found on the internet in 3 hours. im only 2:22 minutes in. Thank you so much and god bless you for not gate keeping this information.
Thanks so much for this video. I just got in a pair of HD6 speakers and S8 subwoofer from Audioengine. This is my first time stepping up my home audio. One look at those banana plugs and I knew I was in trouble. They took so much force to push in I thought I just wasted $1k in 15 minutes flat.😂😅
The HD6 are pretty sweet in that they come with the speaker cable to connect your passive speaker with Banana plugs included. Usually, they are a tight fit when connected for the first time. It sounds like everything is connected and working properly in your setup? Excellent news!😃👍
I totally get it, I was extremely impressed with the Audioengine HD6 speakers when we tested them. When you add the subwoofer, it takes them to the next level! Which movies have you been watching recently?
@@crutchfield I really missed my mulit CD player I had years ago and have purchased a entry level used Sony DVP-NC66K DVD + CD Player 5 Disc Changer Carousel Stereo Remote and Sony STR-DE475 Stereo AV FM-AM Receiver Hi-Fi Amplifier Amp and my old speakers 🙂 I am told I should have the CD player serviced for new belts and laser cleaning.... is this something I might do myself? I am pretty good with tech and electronics TY!
That is awesome to hear. We cannot advise on any repair procedures for internal components. That being said, we are do-it-yourselfers at heart. If you are good with electronics and confident in your skills, it may be something that you can tackle with good results!
I've always been confused about bi-amping/bi-wiring. I always thought that the rull-range music signal comes into a speaker's crossover, and the LF waves are directed to the woofer and the mid/highs directed to the squawker/tweeter. And no amp I've owned has had separate LF/high outputs. What am I missing here?
With Bi-wiring capable speakers you are using separate sets of speaker wires for the low drivers and tweeters while using a single amplifier channel for each speaker. Bi-amping uses separate wires but steps up the power by using separate amplifier channels as well (2-channels of power per speaker vs. 1 when bi-wiring). Bi-amping requires separate power amplifiers or a bi-amp capable home theater receiver with additional free channels to use when bi-amping. For me personally, I have noticed the most sonic upgrade for a speaker when using bi-amping.
Bi-wiring is audio voodoo. All sound goes from same speaker output. I use bi-amp on my avr and speakers and I file a little better separation. If we have better speakers maybe is worth more.
If you are referring to the dual banana plugs, then neither side is dedicated to the negative wire and we recommend following the instructions outlined in section 4 of this video that starts a 1:17

@crutchfield Yup, everything was setup just fine. The bass is a dream come true. Music quality jumped up and now movies are fun to watch again.

@@crutchfield Just some recent movies on my watch list like Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Deadpool Wolverine, Transformers One and loads of anime.
Good ones!
Fab thanks, never had separate components and trying out an upgrade 😍
Thank you for the comment! 🥰What are you upgrading?

Which side of the banana plug is negative ?

Godsend
Glad we could help! What are you wiring up?
