    possibly getting damaged & of course Him if he cut from a bad spot. Nice work, Captain. peace & GB ALL

    Seems like most people pulled their boats before the hurricane(s). Not sure why the rest didn't? No trailer? Hoping to get a new boat?

    Ken…I think if you contact Yankum ropes and investigate their inventory for shackles straps and other items most commonly used in off road recovery you will find any tools that will work better and
    Easier for the jobs you encounter. Watch a few episodes of Matt’s off road recovery to learn how they use those products. Some tow truck operators replace their steel winch cable with a soft flexible rope like material that’s is stronger than the steel cable and a lot more friendly to the operator.
    Glad to see the self inflatable jacket you wear. They should disable your steering and just let you stir the shifters

      Thanks Jim! MORR is a great channel and I've been watching them for years now!
      Unfortunately, equipment purchases aren't my responsibility but yes, the soft shackles would work great for a lot of these jobs

    So that’s a salvage boat now? That seems a bit harsh for such an easy recovery and apparently no serious damage.

    • @CaptKenO
      @CaptKenO  Місяць тому +1

      Hey Sam. You, like a lot of people we've dealt with after the storms, are under the impression that a boat salvage is the same as a salvage title on a car (it's not)....It's merely the term used in the industry to describe this kinda work.
      Unfortunately that doesn't really matter now, because this boat ended up partially sinking after the 2nd hurricane came through, so the insurance company will probably total the boat 😑

      @@CaptKenO Hi Capt. under Admiralty law the salvor negotiates with the boat owner for a portion of the value of the boat and cargo. Since the boat is in jeopardy the salvor can negotiate for a high percentage. Is this how towboat US works? I thought the towboat US and Seatow just ate the charge if someone has their insurance. Btw I have had towboat US unlimited insurance for many years but have never needed it. Thanks Capt Sam

    • @CaptKenO
      @CaptKenO  Місяць тому

      I don't know at what point that kicks in, but that's usually applied to expensive yachts or large commercial vessels (think like when the Ever Given blocked the Suez Canal).
      For 99.9% of the salvage work we and seatow do, it's a per foot rate.
      Salvage is not covered by your towing policy with either Seatow or towboat us. That is either covered by your hull insurance (similar to your car insurance) or you pay out of pocket

    Why is there no pontoon with a crane from the boatyard itself? Feel sorry for the boat owners. Great you have work paid by insurances?
