Acrylic Pour Cells Experiment - what creates the best cells? Floetrol produces cells on its own, so what is the difference in cells when mixed with silicone vs no silicone?
Let me know if you want me to do the same experiment with dish soap and alcohol! This tutorial will be beneficial for Acrylic Pouring Beginners.
I hope you enjoyed the process and looking forward to hearing from you :)

You are my favourite artist. Such excellent instruction and to boot, you are a hoot! Thank you so much!
Both are beautiful
I really like both but without silicon is my favorite. I like more flow than cells personally ❤️ Thank you for sharing
thank you, Nicole!
Both turned out great
I like both of them but the one with one drop of silicone is my favorite! Also you made me laugh with your bottle shaking dance. So cute.
Thank you 😊😆
They both are beautiful. Thanks for the side by side
Thank you. Exactly what I was looking for.
Thank you for showing us . I like both.
All up to choice! Loved both!
Olga you crack me up. Just got to this video now because I'm watching from the dancing Moons and back. Your shaking dance skills cracked me up.😂🤣
I love them both!
I love the colors that you chose, and my preference is for the one with no silicone. I like fewer cells. Beautiful art, and I love your videos. They're very helpful and enjoyable to watch.
So incredibly beautiful!!! 💙💙💙
They're both nice but I'm a fan of silicone. The cells create so much expression and beauty.
Actually, she's a great teacher!!!🌈
Love the second one!
I love them both! They look amazing 🤩
Luv the way you explain. Sounds like a story from the snowy plains of acryl, laced with warm beautiful colors you keep adding to exuberant springtime
oh wow, what a gorgeous compliment! Thank you!
Wow! Awesome pours! Both bring their own kind of beauty. Colors just flowed together.
Thank you, Becky!
Beautiful
I enjoy how evenhanded you are and how you are happy with all the methods you try to do! Thanks again for a sweet video Olga!
Thank you so much!
Super. Amazing. Great.
I like both of them. Beautiful colors 😎
thank you, Joanne! I like these colors together so much, I don't know why I'm not using them very often 😀
Great demonstration I like the one with the added silicone oil I love cells cells cells can't get enough🤪
Love the one with the added silicone. Will be trying my first pour later this evening, using some of the pointers from one of your other videos. Thanks for posting these. So helpful ❤
Happy to hear you find it helpful, Gerard! Happy creating 😉
THANK YOU FOR SHARING OLGA. BEUTIFUL WORK
Thank you too! 😊
I liked the one with out the silicone and just the pouring medium the best, but I like them both, I also believe the artist has alot to do with how each painting comes out, great job!
Bravo, esti cea mai tare persoana in munca asta!
Magnifique ! Merci pour ce partage. Yves
I had a good laugh when you cut that tip from one of your bottles and waved bye-bye 🤣😆🤣
😆😆😆👍
I like the one without silicone although both are lovely! I’ve been using silicone with ready to pour paints and it’s been giving little pinholes..so I’m staying away from silicone for a bit!
I love how they both look, but it’s amazing what a difference one drop of silicone in just one color makes! Very helpful comparison - thank you!
I'm happy to hear that! 💙
Thanks, Olga. I think the one without silicone has much more design and movement; the silicone one is all about the cells.
You are such a happy person! It's contagious. I see a heart in the one on the right after drying. Thank you for your wonderful experiments.
Thank you so much for your comment, Nancy!
I like the one with silicone better, but both nice! Happy pouring!
I like both of them
thank you, Sherry!
love them both
Thank you!
Wowww unbelievable They both gorgeous with/without selicone 😻😻👏🏻👏🏻❣️
thank you so much, Mela!
very informative, thank you
You are most welcome, Sharlene!😊
I like both but do prefer the bigger cells with the silicone drop ! X
I'm watching this video from the dish soap experiment. As an extremist, I'm loving the silicone painting. However, I do like the no silicone one too. Again, I'm going to experiment as well and do both! On to the silicone vs. dish soap vs.alcohol video. Thanks!!!
Very helpful, thank you for sharing your ideas👍🌺
Thank you!
I am in awe of your work you are such an amazing artist
Thank you so much, Jeff!
It is a matter of preference. I, personally don't use silicone very often, because I like the challenge of creating cells, using the right mixture of paint with Floetrol. DecoArt pouring medium also produces cells, so I often combine Floetrol with decoart p.m. As my pouring medium.
Carrie Easley I agree. I find more satisfaction in tweaking my mix. Anyone can get tons of cells with silicone. What’s the challenge?
Thank you, Carrie! I also have been testing this combo a lot lately. Do you mix them 1:1 ?
I really like your work. It's very inspiring. Can you do a video on how you mix your paint with a pouring medium and conserve them for your next painting?
Thanks!
Like them both thank you for sharing 👍❤️
Удоволствие са клиповете които създавате!
I personally love those huge cells! Looks so coool🤩 reminds me rain on my windows🙃definitely nice color combo🧐
thank you! And I also feel like I should work with these colors more... maybe dutch pour? 😀
I am guessing, but think it would be easier to get them to that size on a smaller Canvas than a larger canvas

Wow, those cells grew up just from 1 drop of silicone to 1 color. But I love it! What do you think about the results? Which one do you like better?
Smart Art Materials & Techniques I have a canvas that is 48”X60” inches, I am redoing my living room and I want it for a piece behind my couch. It is the last thing I am doing because I am nervous to even start because it’s so large. What do you think is the best application to do it since it is so large?
@@mommashawna707 I think you should try a dutch pour, I think this technique looks fantastic on large size
Smart Art Materials & Techniques thank you so much, I’m just so nervous to start, you know. I’ve practiced on smaller ones vases everything it’s just the size of the piece and I don’t want to screw it up.
I like them both but prefer the one without the extra oil. I heard floetrol has a tiny bit of oil in it so that's why it causes cells 🙃🤔💚
MommaShawna I totally understand! Whatever you do, it's going to be beautiful! 😍
Wow, these are beautiful, but I am obsessed with the one with the just one drop of silicone. Just gorgeous!! I geek out over cells!
Thank you so much!
Очень понравились обе работы! Спасибо!!!
I do love cells, however both are lovely
Cells for ever for me! But I like them both 🙏
Thank you
Красота! Волшебный синий!
Now I'm dying to try silicon... Thank you Olga
Most welcome, have fun!
Very cool, I love watching your videos and experiments 💙💙💙
thank you so much, you ongoing support means a lot to me!
@@OlgaSoby of course, you are one of my favorite artists 🤗🤗🤗
Both of them are beautiful 💗but I prefer no silicone 💗 happy painting 💗
מדהים! תודה
Thank you!😊
I like the one without silicone best. But both are pretty.
Så dejligt med lidt tricks 👍
Thanksssssss !!!!!
I like the one with silicone best. I am a big fan of big cells! 😁❤
I love your work. I've started doing some pour abs I've noticed my cells look different then what I see others do. I'd like to show my painting to be an opinion.
They are both very pretty but I like the one with the floetrol best
I liked the one with siliconecells best, but I think it is because of the composition! But both are gorgeous❣️😍
thank you!
I prefer the silicone effect over just the floetrol. The cleaning process to varnish or resin may be the deciding factor. They both came out quite nice! Thanks for sharing your experiment!!! ✌️❤️😊
You are most welcome!😉
Good and useful experiment. No silicone for me...🙂
I like the one with out the silicone
Thank you. I learned a lot from 3-4 of your videos....ready to do my first pour!
Go for it, Doug!
Olga, I completed my first two pours. They turned out quite nice and with practice I can see how I can improve. Again, Thank-you for your videos.
Çok güzel.
👍🏻🙋🏻♂️
I prefer the larger cells; amazing result from 1 silicone drop in 1 colour. I'm learning so much from you, Olga. Impatiently awaiting delivery of torch so I can start my first pour. I've watched loads of vids; everyone has different opinion & method of mixing, pouring medium recipe, paint application etc. Some tilt almost vertical all around without centering paint between. Some say use hairdryer instead of torch...it's all so confusing, I decided to follow your way because of all other works & vids, yours are most honest & informative. I'm sure many other would-be pourers feel the same.
Thank you so much Helen! You're right there many approaches and ways of doing pouring techniques and mixing. I'm happy to hear you find my approach usefull. Just one thing - I don't think hairdrier and torch are interchangeable. Blow drier works great for moving and blowing the paint, while torch is great for popping air bubbles and can also help with cells.
I love the organic cells! I don't use floetral very often because I find that certain paints create cells on their own (like Artist Loft Cobalt Blue). Great experiment!! Love your videos!!!💖💕💖
thank you so much, Julia! There are so many pouring mediums and mixtures on my list - don't know where to get all the time haha
You look like you were having fun shake dancing. I do it too!
The one with silicone is my fave!
Awesome!😊
I have been watching this channel a while now, and last Friday i did my first pour. Immediately followed by 2 more, and am currently prepping 2 more 18x24 canvases for todays pours. As fun as it is to watch it is twice was fun to do. Totally addicted and love the videos. I am currently using decoart pouring medium (it was cheap on sale) and random 2 oz acrylic paints i had laying around. I have been mixing by eye for viscosity rather than by weight as all the paints i have are different. Super fun thanks for the videos.
This is just fantastic! And btw - that's the best way to mix your colors, just try to bring them all to the same consistency 😀
what techniques have you been playing with?
@@OlgaSoby My first two pours were flip cup pours. the first was on a dry white canvas with what ended up to be way too much black mixed with a neon green a blue and white. the colors had silicone, but the black took over most of the colors. the second i put way too much silicone in the green and blue, but it came out cool. the third i poured black on the center of the canvas and in the corners. next i mixed metallic gold with 3 drops of silicone and then orange and black with no silicone. this time i did a slow pour starting in the center working my way out. It came out so good I can't wait to do more. Next I will do another pour like my third attempt, but then i want to try maybe the "kiss pour" or a "swipe". Id love to share pictures of them for feedback if there is a forum or an email. Either way thanks for the videos i have been binge watching you and another youtuber for tips and techniques all weekend.
Ian Thomas fun experiments! 😀 The more you do that, the better you are going to feel the paint. Yes, we have a Facebook group facebook.com/groups/smartartmaterials/
you are most welcome to share pictures there!
They both look great!
I prefer the one without silicone.
James
thank you, James!
00:05 like a barmaid...I love it
😉😉
😆😆
Too hard to choose. They both look awesome!
Hi @Smart Art Materials & Techniques Olga.
You looked like you were playing the maracas at the start, very funny! I really liked the first pour today, it looked so satisfying as you spread it through the funnel, and the cell formation was quite rich, but the second pouring?!? Wow, just one single drop of silicone and you get that much reaction, I wonder what would happen with the same amount added to three or even four colors? Have you tried this as an experiment? I guess a black base paint would give a good effect but with brighter, more vibrant colors.
Keep up the great work, and I'll be looking for your next video.
I prefer the silicone tecnique but the two are so beautiful. And you are so cute too . 😊
thank you, Ernesto!
I prefer the one with no silicone, but they are both beautiful. 💙💙💙
Both are nice but I like the silicone one the best.
Thanks!! Awesome!! If you don’t mind share your pouring medium recipe please???
I love these! I'm wondering, why did you only put silicone in the white? Instead of in all the colors?
I like the one with silicone
Both are beautiful paintings. If making a decision to purchase, I might prefer the one with FLoetrol® only, with no silicone. Although I would like to see a series, using one drop, two drops, three drops, none. ...in the white and a dominate color, as well, a complimentary color scheme, such as blue, green and orange. Also, want to say; Thank You, for sharing your experiments in materials and techniques. Your edutainment is valuable. Please stay awesome....
Thank you Doug! Great idea for future experiments!
Love the silicone painting! ❤ I would love to see a video on how you remove silicone from a dried piece.
thank you! Yes, this video os coming!
@@OlgaSoby Thank you!
Geez, it's so hard to say which I like best. I like both for different reasons.
I like them both but the silicone one is so much more interesting.
Thank you, Lisha! I agree - it's hard to complete with it when comes to large cells and dramatic look
I like them both.. but the no silicone a little better. Also love the colour combination. 💜
Thank you! 😊
I like the one without silicon which surprises me. I usually like drama and more but I like the flow and movement of the one without silicone
thank you, Michelle!
What exactly do u need to put in the paint to make cells?
I've seen multiple things.
Like paint +pouring medium+silicon etc.
Even use water or dish soap.
Could you also compare a swipe and other methods please
Wow! We need to buy floetrol. Reallyblike the one with sillecone
Thank you, Jolanda! What are you normally using for pouring medium?
@@OlgaSoby we use a pre mixed medium from a discounter. It was for trying. My son is 7 years old but now we know he really likes it so we are looking for better materials.
@@maxpro5467 hi Jolanda, so to be honest with you, I don't think Floetrol is a good option if you are working with your son. It's not good for skin contact, and overall definitely not designed to be used by kids. I think a non-toxic glue and non-toxic paints would be a much better and safe option. Please do your research first and read the MSDS of any product you are planning to use.
big like
What silicone brand do you use like where do you buy it my silicone don’t give me the same effects as. Much maybe it’s the brand
The 2 are beautiful but personally I like the one without silicone. It's softer.
Beautiful I like more the one without silicone..... can you share how did you mixed each color I mean how many floetrol ?
Thank you, 1paint + 2.5 Floetrol + a little water to get it to the right consistency.
Is it better to use less silicone oil than more? I usually use a squirt of oil rather than a drop, and I'm unhappy with my cells.
What kind of silicone do you use ?
