I also like that of all the characters, he uses Falco to represent himself because that’s his main. It makes sense, but it just adds some extra personality and gives us a face (sort of) to the voice
props on continuing to make videos specifically about melee’s almost inherently interesting mechanics and quirks without running out of ideas. a less creative man would’ve run out by now, ur killin it bro
Fun fact about link, he has less frames of cliff wait compared to every other character meaning he can let go of ledge earlier than the rest of this cast. This makes his double jump ledge refresh relatively easy compared to everyone else.
It doesn't make it easier to have full intangibility, though, as the intangibility he gets is shortened just as much. It only makes the frame-perfect pattern you have to follow have a quicker beat than other characters.
On the topic of Mr. Game & Watch's nose intangibility... They didn't forget to give it to him. Rather, Mr. Game & Watch's head and nose hurtbox share the same bone attachment ID which is used for a lot of tasks in the program, one of which is to determine which hurtboxes to apply intangibility to. The problem? After finding the first ID in the list of hurtboxes to apply intangibility, the game ignores all subsequent hurtboxes sharing that same ID and exits the function. In this case: Mr. Game & Watch's head and nose hurtboxes are both attached to bone 20, but since the head hurtbox comes first, the nose is ignored and so would anything else after it on bone 20.
One of my favorite things about this channel is that, despite the semi-inconsistency of the frequency of these videos, these videos and their heavy editing have high amounts of effort put into it and as such, are also very binge-worthy. :) This is one of my favorite channels on UA-cam.
Dude, galint was one of those things I just couldn't wrap my head around as a casual Melee enjoyer, and you just explained it in a manner that makes total sense. Great stuff as always
I'm in the camp of not being interested in competitive Melee (I played a lot casually as a kid) but being endlessly fascinated by the minute details that make everything so situational.
the small edits like frame counters or quickly showcasing hitboxes are amazing. interesting for veterans and super useful for beginners, simply excellent mr saus
I never played Melee competitively. But I absolutely love your content and have been hooked since I first found you forever ago. I was a child when I played Melee. I spent thousands of hours on the game. Never figured out wavedashing or anything cool, just played the game for the enjoyment of playing. Almost entirely solo, as I had nobody to play with growing up, but I still had fun. I will forever love the Smash series. I play Ultimate with my own son nowadays. It's a lot of fun.
I still find it hilarious that G&W's up smash has head intangibility but not nose intangibility. I didn't know Fox and Falco also lacked snoot and beak intangibility on the same move.
It's crazy how deep the mechanics of Melee are, there is literally a 14 minute video explaining different ways to speed up landings and achieve invincibility.
Your music choices always make me smile. I really wasn't expecting the 2011 "Originape Soundtrack" version of Specter's Castle from Ape Escape to explain invincibility and intangibility! You pick lots of relaxing sounds from less common sources that create a very cozy and genuinely casual atmosphere. It makes all the "competitive Melee" talk very inviting for those of us who generally would stay far away from it. You're not trying to prove anything or say "this is why this is the best/better than this other thing"...not even in the passive backhanded way a lot of gaming personalities and content creators always do. Your demeanor and friendliness are GREATLY appreciated as they enhance ypur humor and observations and your editing has true personality all its own. Bravo!

Another one for the history books, thank you for blessing us once again with knowledge of Melee techniques. You are a real one, these videos have so much effort put into them and are deserving of all the praise they get.
10:27 m2 can actually get 9 frames of galint on BF and DL pretty consistently with nair, but the version of the AI that gives 6 galint works on every stage, just a weird tiny thing about his ledge game
Hey your videos are just amazing. Every single time you make it so informative and entertaining with the editing and voiceovers and jokes and everything. There's literally no amount of praise anybody could ever give that would match to your constant effort to produce the best content. Seriously keep these quality videos up no matter how long they may take.
lord your production quality is absolutely nuts. I love these and I've never played Melee. My first taste of it was through your competitive compilations. Here I am 4 years later, still hooked on your god-tier content.
One of the only reasons I keep around is being interested in your content. There’s not many things I look forward to but your videos on the activity that has made me the happiest in life. Thanks
here's a couple bowser gimmicks i wish were well known: bowser's nair interrupt can be used to gain 9 frames of GALINT on battlefield (very hard) bowser's frame perfect aerial up b gives him a NIL on battlefield's side plats which allows grab techchase followups that he previously is too slow to do bowser can make it to dreamland's side platforms by doing a waveland off the stage and instantly jumping towards stage, this is also a NIL bowser can backair off ledge and ledgecancel to cover a lot of recoveries but it's insanely hard
I know it’s been said to death by now but Saus’s editing is literally top tier in terms of UA-cam in general. I don’t know how this man got so creative with his editing style but it’s recognizable, unique, and makes this content infinitely more fun to watch.
Whenever i see a new video uploaded by you i get a little smile. Your videos are actually so good edited and you explain everything so well , i hope youre doing good bro
Jesus. I've never tried to study melee and just casually watched tournaments for years and had no idea you could land quicker with aerials. I feel like it's never mentioned?! Anyway thanks for these amazingly informative videos. This is the kind of stuff I used to follow Hax for, but his last year of content has been nearly exclusively about his melee 1.03 mod and FAR more subtle aspects of melee that border on inhuman precision, as well as subjective perspectives on how they should be treated. Straight documentation like this is so much more enjoyable.
I absolutely love watching your videos. They're just so beautifully designed and that transition where it slides into the credits near the end tripped me out. I felt like I was actually moving
I'm really happy that someone finally makes the difference between invinc and intang on UA-cam. The amount of time I hear invincibility when referring to intangibility is insane.
Your videos are formatted and edited in such a lovely way that always makes it so engaging and fun to watch. I find myself rewinding constantly, and even re watching entire videos every now and then. Asum work as always
7:39 special shoutout to the best peach in australia mccloud as he does the "pedgedash" all the time in tournament 🙂 (on a smashbox, but it still counts)
i'd post the link to mccloud doing it but itll probably get auto deleted by youtube so you can just look up "peach ledgedashing is raw nightmare fuel" and the tweet will come up
I'm starting to learn so much about smash, and I've barely ever played it aside from a little Brawl. But these are so well made, perfect background videos for aim training. Much love, amazing content
@AsumSaus It's really great when you include competitive gameplay as examples of what you're talking about! They are always great moment (especially if the commentators react to it!) and showcase super well how the tech can be an asset during top level fights. In fact, if you ever run out of material (which I doubt), it could be great to see you deconstruct specific tournament matches that were swayed by difficult exploits performed in real time. Btw the segment of Hbox abusing the edge against against Wizzy at the very end is peak (and deserved) arrogance. Really glad Wizzy stopped doing it so much. With this plus taking forever between matches, it was really annoying to see him delay the game all the time despite being very good. Much more enjoyable to see play in the last 1-2 years!
For those wondering, Yoshi eggstall always has AT LEAST one frame of vulnerability, which is why it wasn't mentioned here (as well as other niche stuff) compared to his other fully intangible options (down b stall, ledgedash, AI, haxdash). Shame though, feels like it would have had its place in this video.

I love how he uses the whole cast of characters for his demonstrations and not just top tiers. It’s the little things.
The Little things = half the cast
I don’t see why anyone would only use top tiers to demonstrate things. It’s simple demonstrations, tiers don’t effect that in the slightest.
I main Link so fuck yeah!
@@froggyl7472
You don't see why top tiers would be used to show off things in Melee? Are you sure about that, dude? Think about it real hard
