randall not being legal in smash ultimate due to stage hazards always being off was the definition of “you never know what you have until its gone” because i love the funny smiling cloud dude :)
Hazards shouldn't be a binary on off thing. They should be presented on a spectrum. So you can control how often and how severe they are.
Randall shouldn't be a hazard. He's a moving platform.
@@Jotari except ult kids would end up fucking it up and you'd have to restart every other game.
At least that was my experience as an ult TO for 2 years trying the rulesets out for awhile.
@@UhhhDust Honestly, there could definitely be a hazards per stage toggle, so that (for instance) you keep things like Randall and Dive to the Heart, but can completely remove the stage changes of Kalos.

I don't even think there's any competition anymore, AsumSaus is by far the best Melee content creator, the editing and storytelling is just unmatched.

Unironically, the whole "being turned into a projectile after being thrown" thing would have been cool to keep around in later games. How practical it would be is anyone's guess, but still.
It would be extremely practical against Ice Climbers and Rosalina. K Rool's Blunderbuss has this property, in which fighters that get shot out have a hitbox. It's very useful for the ICs and Rosa matchup because shooting out a climber/Rosa is very effective at keeping the other climber/Luma away
It also has dummy knockback levels. Source: I main ICs and this is very annoying to get hit with.
Does this not happen in other smashes? I thought it at least was in brawl.
@@cm4n63 the players thrown (besides the k.rool NB) have no hitboxes, however the grabs themselves have hitboxes (most notable being Mario's backthrow, and variations of said throw)

I play Melee casually. It's fun. But I can't justify spending 500 hours to become pro unless you really want to. If anything get Slippi and a few friends to play.

AsumSaus just never ceases to surprise me with the amount of things Melee has to discuss about. Every time I think he's done covering topics about the game, he somehow just finds out more. Ranging from glitches to the competitive scene, it's always so enticing and engaging to watch all the way through. Not to mention how clean and smooth his editing skills are alongside his sense of humor.

I laughed a little too loud at “Randall” because I never thought the community would have a name for it.
The name dates back to a smashboards post where one dude says something like “I am officially naming this cloud Randall” and everyone just went ‘okay’ and it just stuck.
the best part is the origin, some dude on Smashboards literally just decided to call him Randall one day and everyone ran with it
My favorite part is where the name came from, apparently it was just one dude on smashboards who christened the tiny fluff “Randall” and the rest is history

Since learning that Randall doesn't even use the slots in the stage I'm convinced he's actually a fucking ghost.
Youve seriously upped the editing quality with this one Sir Saus, super easy to watch as all your videos are, surprisingly very entertaining for someone who's never touched melee too
You can also do a 0-degree wavedash by positioning yourself on the slant and holding straight sideways when you perform your wavedash toward center stage. This goes farther than a "perfect wd".
This is actually what Ganon players do on stage when double jumping and wave landing to get max range wavedashes.
@@itzmasterz are you saying ganon players can use this concept as a consistent setup for max-distance wavelands on any stage? Like, something about his double jump just makes it to where a straight-sideways dodge input after double jumping just sets up nicely for those super long wavelands?
@@bidoofus7921 Ganon does a front flip when double jumping forward. His body is shorter than when he’s standing. So if you wave land after double jumping, the air dodge uncurls his body and it’s as if you did a perfect wave dash. (If that makes sense, i really want pictures to help explain it)

Seeing Fox's ears sticking out like a shark fin is the best thing I've seen in this game
The explanation for the throw into stage on Randall makes a lot of sense, especially considering their similarity to two understood glitches involving Mewtwo's side b grab (pull thru battlefield and Soul Breaker) being caused by the opponent's collision box being frozen and sequence breaking respectively. Since it can be reasonably seen as a combination of these two separately understood glitching techniques, it is reasonable to assume that they may work together in this scenario to cause the glitch
so much for that 3 hour analysis of randall, also the stage is so broken the video thinks its yoshi story

Due to the slants, spacies performing a jump canceled Shine can actually have it come out with no hitbox. Presumably, this is due to the landing on the same frame Shine comes out.

6:52 Tbh this doesn’t really look wrong to me, it looks like he barely missed the ledge.
He shows a recreation of the moment in ECB mode. The two rectangles inside the big blue box (the red and blue one that are side by side) are what dictates whether you grab ledge or not. If the red one in this case comes in contact with the ledge he will grab it unless the blue one comes into contact with it too. If you watch the clip again in ECB mode you will see that Marth can actually grab ledge pretty far above his head. So he definitely wasnt too low to grab ledge.

Fun fact in ultimate the belmonts can do an easy no impact land on the side platform by doing an instant double jump from ledge similar to bowser in melee
