The springs holds the pads tightly also they are designed to be against the adjuster to keep it from unloosing itself once you get it set. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
@@crankitt825 I did find out there is a rubber oring on the spindle that was preventing it from sliding off. Mine ripped. Looks like it is supposed to prevent water from entering from around the spindle.

You just skipped over the part about how to get the hub off?
Once the nut comes off the hub slides off. If the hub won’t slide off adjust your brake pads inward and it will slide off.
