  • The neighbor's yard has gotten my C5 Corvette engine bay extremely dirty over the last few months. This upload shows how I clean the engine bay of my C5 Corvette. It's typically not this bad, but the excessive dirt and dust is horrible.

    Thanks everybody for watching. This is the worst the engine bay has been since I got it. Nothing a little spray and scrub can't handle though.

      @@YellowVette04 do you mind me asking this question, I was under the hood wanting to change the air filter I noticed that the oem box was replaced with one of those dual cold air cones things, in your opinion which is better? If I keep what I have are those easy to maintain? Thanks

      Lol it does look like a lot but I had it on the fine spray setting. Covers very well and I like the no touch aspect of it. Does ok for trim but not that great. Same with tires, it's just ok. Engine bay is great tho. You're trying megs and I wanna try Adam's lol. It's decent stuff for the price and diluting it is what makes it awesome and last a long time.

      The drain udders under the cowl are really important. Depending on the previous owner they're either empty or packed full. If packed full, you run into issues with water. Just make sure all 4 are clear. One on passenger side and 3 on driver's ua-cam.com/video/Sr9rSAW1kzE/v-deo.html

    I posted on one of your videos a few days ago I picked up a millenium yellow 02 Vette recently, electronics and sensors and stuff that can go wrong I want to clean my engine bay but I've been scared to, I've been thinking about taking mine to a detailing shop and having it steam cleaned. If I do that after I get it back I'll probably use a plastic / vinyl / rubber conditioner and use a brush and just treat the hoses and plastic pieces and stuff, still thinking about it.

    • @YellowVette04
      @YellowVette04  5 років тому +1

      You can definitely take it to a detailer and they'll do anything you ask for. I understand that cleaning it can worry you but you have nothing to worry about. All components in the engine bay are designed to get wet from splashing water. Splashing water is going to happen when you drive it, unless you don't take it out when there's water on the road. Just don't soak anything or apply to much water pressure to connectors and other components. You could also spray cleaner in a rag and just wipe down every surface. Either way you'll like a clean engine bay better. Good luck with the car and nice color.

      Water splashes into the engine bay when driving on mostly ever car. All electrical connections are water tight. Just as long as you don't use a pressure washer to vigorously and spray water into the intake you'll be OK. Thanks for watching

    • @YellowVette04
      @YellowVette04  4 роки тому +1

      Yes, the PCM is under the battery. Those cable connections are water tight. You don't want to overdo it with water, but rinsing is fine. The engine bay gets wet when driving, so it's all made to get wet.

    I definitely want to get one of these for my gf. I gave my brother my first car (Red 1995 Corvette lt1). I have my c6 ls3. I really want one of these for my gf as a surprise. Was also going to ask... where did you buy your headers? Texas speed doesnt show anything for headers for ls3 c6.

      Got em from TSP, here's a link for their C6 headers and offroad x-pipe. Select the year range in the drop down. I don't see a catted x-pipe version. www.texas-speed.com/p-3198-tsp-c6-corvette-1-78-long-tube-header-3-off-road-x-pipe-package-w-02-extensions.aspx

    Dave, what kind of exhaust do you have on your vette and how the drone in the cabin is?

    • @YellowVette04
      @YellowVette04  5 років тому

      TSP headers, TSP catted x-pipe and Billy Boat Bullets. It drones but I don't mind it at all. I plan on making a video soon because I get this question a lot.

  • @papabear007
    @papabear007 3 роки тому +1

    I have the car what exhaust do you have on it? I still have stock want to change it

    • @YellowVette04
      @YellowVette04  3 роки тому

      Texas Speed headers, Texas Speed Catted X-Pipe and Billy Boat Bullets. If you're just doing an axle back the bullets will be a nice upgrade with a little drone. If you're going to do headers back then the drone gets pretty bad, but I didn't mind it. Now I have a BTR Stage 2 cam and it really drones lol. I will probably change out the bullets to something else down the road just to limit the drone.

    • @YellowVette04

    Never use dressing on an engine bay ! All that does is attract more dust and dirt!!!

    • @YellowVette04
      @YellowVette04  4 роки тому +2

      You've been using the wrong type of dressing. Use a water based dressing that isn't greasy and you'll be fine. Many water based dressings dry to the touch and there is no residue left behind. Whatever dust and dirt that is in your engine bay, would be there regardless.
