- If you are a runner with a stress fracture in the heel bone, you're probably wondering whether or not you can run and still heal. This video by Dr. Christopher Segler will explain how he helps runners decide whether or not you can run even when you have a stress fracture on the heel bone.

This was excellent! Pretty sure I have a calcaneal stress fracture. I’m wondering if I run on my toes only and try and reduce any impact on my heel if it could heal that way...
I got a calcaneal fracture together with achilles tendon rupture right before my Ironman race. I am glad I found a right doctor understanding how devastating it is! Thanks for the helpful videos.

Thanks for the video. I was diagnosed with a Calcaneal stress fracture 4 weeks ago. I watched your video and decided to wear the boot for 6 weeks. I had the summer off, so lots of time in the pool running and core exercises. I also only wear the boot when I go out. I'm home a lot. I'm hoping to run without pain in 2 weeks. I'm also getting a bone density test tomorrow.
Thanks for watching, and I'm glad you found it helpful! Stay fit. Heal fast!
I have a stress fracture of where the bone spur attached to back of heel which seems rare. In week 3 still painful
Yes, it will heal in time, do not worry...
6:35 haha so glad to hear this I got a mild case of heel bursitis as well as calcaneus stress fracture (only realized the latter once the bursitis subsided) and I have been checking daily to feel how the heel is doing. I don't want to be off it for 1-2 months honestly which is what i read from other sources. But it is my own fault for trying to start up running too intensely after only doing weightlifting for so long. Running a mile a day seemed feasible, but I think I took strides that were too long and plyometric for a 100kg guy... gotta lose some weight and let this injury heal up so that I can run more.
Thanks for watching and for sharing your story. Glad you found it helpful!
Hi Doc thanks for the Video... I dont run myself but 5 days ago I got a non displaced crack on the heal and have a lot of swelling and some pain but I could not even imagine walking on it let alone run on it.... I have a splint now and crutches and in 2 weeks will likely get a boot. I am someone who cant handle pain well or??? I just dont understand how anyone could run until the fracture healed.. BTW this is my first bone issue ever and man is it inconvenient.
Sorry to hear that....heal fast!
I have pain in it, but am not sure if it's stress or broken?
Corona time
Can't get X ray or MMR
