@PowerSprinter For men, 6 Chinese lifters currently hold world records across 4 weight classes (62, 69, 77, 85). None hold records in the 94, 105, or 105+ classes. It's no surprise that those 6 guys are ripped (although, as an 85, Zhang Yong was a little softer than the other 5 guys - not fat by any means, just not rock-hard like the others), since they are in the light-to-middle-weight classes: everyone in those classes is ripped, regardless of where they're from.
@PowerSprinter Hey. I think that only the genetically elite can stay at 8% bf and still train hard all year round for weightlifting. Consider that most professional weightlifters do 10+ sessions a week and this takes a huge toll on their body. In turn, they have to take in a high amount of calories just to recover for their next training. Most of these weightlifters also stay 3-5kg above their weight category, simply because they are more able to withstand the heavy training at that weight.
@marshalljman What is a pre-arm bend? I have a 79" reach at 6' tall and what I do is that I widen my grip once I have cleaned the bar so that my elbows and wrists are perpendicular to the bar more or less. Then just drop under with a wide split.
How do you guys get so strong in the squat?!!!! Donny makes front squatting 190kg look like lifting up a moderately heavy bag of groceries!!! Any advice for shear LEG STRENGTH?
Rob bends his arms a lot in the clean. It looks like he brings the bar all the way up to his waist before hitting it. Wouldn't you lose some power due to the arms not being able to support the force as you accelerate the bar during the hip extension? *It looks like all the male lifters except John is hitting the bar as high as in the snatch, with the help of bend arms. Is this really efficient?
Postermaestro Rob uses the hip clean technique, which involves that rowing that weight into the hips once you get above the knees, which is why his arms are so bent.It provides alot of force through the bar but its not for everyone just certain body types
johns jerks are looking nice! i know the feeling of lying in bed thinking about a technical fault and waiting to go in the gym and see if you can correct it!
Don't worry about the over head stuff, that comes with time and reps. As far as getting into the sport, look into getting some weightlifting shoes from Adidas. The shoes make a huge difference in overhead stuff like jerks or snatches. I am not sure what area you are in, but if there is an Olympic weightlifting gym in your area, then check it out. Whatever you do, do NOT go to a crossfit gym.
@PowerSprinter Since they stay at 12% or so when they train, when it is time to cut weight, if they try to diet down like a bodybuilder, they will very likely lose strength (ask anyone who has tried dieting down the fat for a bodybuilding comp and kept his strength) than if they only cut water weight and stayed at the same bf %. A 94kg or 105kg lifter who is ripped to shreds and tearing up international competitors simultaneously is really gifted, with or without steroids.
Can anyone explain to me how to accomplish the pre-arm bend that Spencer and Rob do? I have really long arms proportional to my body and I feel like that technique would improve my clean(although the long arms proved good for throwing a baseball, not so much for lifting). Thanks.
It's not about leg strength, it's ab strength. Get strong in variety of ab exercises (the plank is one of the best) and your front squat will sky rocket.
Bear goes rawr He used to be 280lb and lost 50lb. He's stronger now than he used to be. When this was filmed he hit a 204kg c&j and a 160kg snatch I believe, now he has 207 and 163? Considering he lost appx. 20% of his bodyweight that's no joke.
@TheSutchylad Squats, squats and more squats. As far as specific programming, someone more educated will have to respond. I know that rob at one point did the smolov squat cycle or something similar to it.
Yeah if it works. Just didn't work for me. Maybe it was my poor work capacity in squats or something, but as soon as I started to focus on abs my front squat started increasing.
I just learned them by myself. But you need to be SLOW with the weight.. I didn't go past 40 kilos on the snatch for like a month until I was very, very confident.
@PowerSprinter How can you tell what BF % people are at just by looking at them. and you realize these guys are on diets or at least watch what they eat for the most part. Nutrition is number one when it comes to sports.
Zipemova rephrase to satisfy your trolling ass, they don't use clips because a) they're skill level is such that it is highly unlikely (1% > chance) that they will lose a plate, and they are constantly changing weights so b) it saves time and is less of a hassle to go without clips
Or just do more front squats and your ab strength will skyrocket. I'm not saying to not do ab work, but these guys have big squats because they do a lot of squats.
THanKs fOR EpilEpSY gUiZ
I miss this crew. Not saying I don't like the newer guys/gals, but man, Shankle, North, and the crew. The best.
Warning... outro may cause fits
holy fuck. the end of the video is seizure inducing
are you trying to give me a seizure?
One of your best in a while, Glenn. Please do more of these full length videos.
WTF was that shit with the blinking yellow at the end!
If I was epileptic I would be dead bra...
Donny Shankle is ridiculous.
7:40 "Look at that back"
We were all thinking it.
Love the german shephard running through... Such a chilled atmoshpere

Absolutely loved Rob's lifting
That's awesome! Keep training and getting better. Never give up.
John looked sharper than usual with better clean recovery catching the bounce beautifully. Jerks look good too maybe it was the new shoes I noticed.
I've seen jon jerk way lower weights, with his arms not locked. Huge improvement. Surprised to see how strong these guys are.

I had a seizure at the end... great...
Some one know the name of the shoes? 0:14 pls
I see Jon is now bowing like Dimas after completing his lifts. Classy.

No force is lost as the pull of the arm is stopped before force is generated through the hips
Awesome!! Great movements!! Congratulations!!!
Thank you; you possibly just saved me from having a seizure i don't know though because i did not watch that part :).
i love the sound of the plates hitting off eachother
johns jerks are looking nice! i know the feeling of lying in bed thinking about a technical fault and waiting to go in the gym and see if you can correct it!
are jon's jerks press outs? or is that 3 white lights?
@PowerSprinter If they cut their weight right for competition they won't even lose any strength at all. At the lower weight classes (maybe

i do not train in olympic lifts by any means, but the amount of strength these guys have especially the woman in very impressive
question! why don't you use something to hold the weights in? serious question (i'm a noobie.)
Can anyone explain to me how to accomplish the pre-arm bend that Spencer and Rob do? I have really long arms proportional to my body and I feel like that technique would improve my clean(although the long arms proved good for throwing a baseball, not so much for lifting). Thanks.
John has one of the nicest-looking cleans I have ever seen.
When they do block work, the bar sometimes bounces off the blocks and straight into the wall when they miss behind.
Sroka's shoes look like they have no heel or is that the angle?
lol! i was just about to ask where the epilepsy warning was
how long do you guys rest between lifts?
It's not about leg strength, it's ab strength. Get strong in variety of ab exercises (the plank is one of the best) and your front squat will sky rocket.
good lifting john. jerk looking much better
Cool training environment
Wish there was something like that in my country.
Build one of your own! It can happen.
@AeacusCanti Smolov? Ill do some research lol, cheers man
Donny seems to take a really wide foot placement on snatches. Is this just something that works for him?
What does Jhon Noth eat to be strong?
If I may ask, how come Spencer is stronger in the past than he is now?
he tore his labrum if im not mistaken and had surgery 17 weeks ago, he also lost a good amount of weight.
+PaDGuitars hard work, consistency, and the drive for perfection is something Spencer demonstrates as an athlete and lifter
+Troy Obillo form is horrible for clean and jerk and the snatch just isn't there
@@andrewaquino6758 Then how does he lift heavy weights like this you moron
How many times do your weightlifters train in a week?
@TheSutchylad Squats, squats and more squats. As far as specific programming, someone more educated will have to respond. I know that rob at one point did the smolov squat cycle or something similar to it.
I love how all the related videos are for farm equipment
Yea same. Although sometimes I substitute jerk for snatch. But I clean afterwards in either case.
Hahaha watching this with muted sound, then along comes a German Shepherd at 1:37 :D
Cant be more WTF than that :)
@tryandlike They bend their arms prior to the second pull.
spence is looking awesome!
this is a classic CS video
why does everyone do the leg scratch like koklyaev?
Yeah if it works. Just didn't work for me. Maybe it was my poor work capacity in squats or something, but as soon as I started to focus on abs my front squat started increasing.
What shoes is Jon wearing around 6 minutes in?
I believe the 08 addistar from Adidas for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. People say they are some of the best shoes around if you Olympic lift.
What happened to Lindsey? Last time I heard of her, she was attending Lindenwood University
I just learned them by myself. But you need to be SLOW with the weight.. I didn't go past 40 kilos on the snatch for like a month until I was very, very confident.
@TheSutchylad I'm doing Smolov now... it's HARD
@PowerSprinter How can you tell what BF % people are at just by looking at them. and you realize these guys are on diets or at least watch what they eat for the most part. Nutrition is number one when it comes to sports.
What the hell happened to the wall?
me too best sound ever that and watching the bar bends
Can i ask a question where this guy is from ? becouse an albanian eagle is on his T-shirt ???
The first guy i mean
shiqptar osht, hahah
folni moreeeee shqipe
id love to workout somewhere like this.
could you include their body weight too please
this was a sick video
Why don't you guys use clips to hold plates on ?
Because it's the MANLY thing to do. Silly disregard for everyone's safety.
Zipemova
how many plates did you see come off during this video? theyre at such a level that they dont lose plates, EVER
Brett Larson yeah ok...still doesn't answer the question.
Zipemova
rephrase to satisfy your trolling ass, they don't use clips because a) they're skill level is such that it is highly unlikely (1% > chance) that they will lose a plate, and they are constantly changing weights so b) it saves time and is less of a hassle to go without clips
^thank you that's the answer i wanted :)
That one leg stance was Jesse Marunde's move.
These guys/gals are beasts.
Jon totally stole my one leg gimmick lol
0:14 LOL. I love Jon North, funny fuck
And if it lands on your toe..?
Dont forget the first phase that is involved: snatch.
Oh I LOVE the snatch bro hahahahahahaaa!
Lindsay is tougher than most of the guys that play sports at my school.
Golly. Strong people.
that's good motivation
OH GOD SEIZURE AT THE END
"That doesn't count. it's against the rules" hahaha
If shankle cleans around 200kg, and 190 is 90%...it -scares- me that Klokov is snatching over 200kgs.
Bad ass! Look at that back! HAHAHA
Or just do more front squats and your ab strength will skyrocket. I'm not saying to not do ab work, but these guys have big squats because they do a lot of squats.
donny is a monster
i noticed that everyone except jon changes there hand position after the catch and before the jerk why doesnt jon?
That girl aint no joke
omg i died a little at the end
True.
Dem traps on Jon :O
the end gave me epelepsie or however the fuck its spelled.
Rob "Show me the Money" Blackwell
at the end he was 2 cm smaller
pause at 3:22
But you don't like the snatch?
You really should have a disclaimer for epileptic people. I just had a seizure.
Spencer rullezz ! :-)
That wall..
Spence is looking like he needs to grow his beard back.
wtf i feel like i got fucking epilepsy at the end
@PowerSprinter Can you back squat 600lbs, don't think so. So stop hatin on some guys who can kick yer ass!
Is that the albanian two headed eagle on the back of Rob's shirt? Is he albanian?
