- Here's a quick tour of the 2017 Land Rover Discovery during its reveal in Venice, CA. the 7-seater SUV debuts with 3.0-liter V6 gas and 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine options. Gas-powered Discovery models will produce 340hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. Diesel-powered Discovery models will deliver 254hp and 443 lb-ft of torque. Prices start at $50,985, including destination. The First Edition, shown here, will cost $74,995.

I went and had a look round one a few weeks back and did a short vid on it. I have to say the LR5 is deceiving and is definitely worth a look.
That said, it doesn't help LR4 Commercial owners such as myself who want to buy a new Land Rover and unfortunately LR have nothing to offer.
No Defender, no LR5 Commercial variant....
Is there a 5-seater version? If you have dogs when you fold down the last 2 seats to let the dogs stand on it the fur will fall through the gaps.

Tata have certainly allowed the Brits to do wonders with Landover Jaguar , makes you wonder about Ford the Ford style of management having it for so long and never making a profit .
To be fair Bruce, Ford invested a lot of money and technology that has allowed LR to move forward - however, that's not to say they, just like BMW didn't take a lot of new found info with them....!

Absolutely , it also shows that the incompetent British can produce the goods after destroying all their industries with Unionism and shoddy products and can compete with the world if they get off their lazy arses.

Land rover had this overall look a long time before the others , in fact the Ford would be considered a Chinese copy .
Land Rover neutered the LR4 and turned the Discovery into a bland Explorer.
I'll keep my 2011 LR4 HSE.
for sure less then lr5 will on its owners >> ugly curved blob without character full of useless toys. if landrover is doing something new then it is finding new dimensions of the word unreliable.
I'm so glad I waited to purchase the Disco. Had a chance 2 years ago but something else came up. Now I'm glad, as this new LR5 is a much better choice.
If you don't like it, don't like it. There's no vehicle that's 100% liked by everyone.

At a glance it looks like a Ford Explorer, no one would ever mistake my LR3 for one. I can barely fit two suite cases with our 7 passenger and thats thanks to the straight and excellent looking back, now we lose that room with the trendy curved back that every other SUV has. Thats great you can fold down the seats with a button, but you no longer have the option to fill up the SUV and go on a trip, 0 storage space, something only an LR3 or LR4 owner would know. Take the badge off, there is nothing that says Land Rover here. I'm ready to make a new purchase but nothing here worth looking at, I love my LR3 this almost makes me sick. I'll wait until they get their identity back.
