I took a homeless guy out to dinner for a pizza one night after watching him eat out of a garbage can across from my hotel two days in a row. His story was he had schizophrenia ,his mom abandoned him ,he had nobody to love him or help him. He said he can’t manage himself to make appointments to get his meds ,to go to bed,to wake up etc.... This made me realize that some people just get a bad hand dealt to them in life . Dude at 8 slices of pizza ,3 big cokes and thanked me 10 times for caring about him. Might have been the most rewarding 2 hours of my life because my personal problems become small when I think of him now. All of the homeless have one thing in common,there brains don’t function properly,some self induced,some born that way . Stay safe out there everyone and may the creator bless us all.

Only drug stores can be setup there. the worst type of tent cities. In another part of city there are much bigger tent cities for homeless whites. Almost as shitty as here. Drugs, mental illness, high rents had destroyed those people.

Looked like a third world country but i've never seen in my life a whole community lined up on the sidewalk in sleeping bags because they are homeless. That's crazy. If you ever visit San Francisco you will also see thousands of homeless people living on the streets. San Francisco is really bad and they will smoke drugs from glass pipes right there on the sidewalk in front of people, even in front of tourists who are shocked. But the residents see it every day, it is normal to us who live around them.

Most of them either have mental illness or they're addicted to drugs so they buy and sell drugs as a hustle. Some of them also panhandle (stand on street corners asking for money) so they also receive money tax-free from people. We pay taxes and pay bills like rent - but they receive money tax-free and pay almost nothing for living expenses, except maybe for food. Im on the edge, if i lose my ssi or housing im on the streets with my mother i take care of that has dementia that gets no ssi because medical takes it all till $24k is paid back from her being in medial care for 1 year (thanks to trump). When you have Autism, bad anti social disorder, no education from ADHD and such, being homeless is permanent. I also never did drugs in my life and still dont nor did i ever drink alcohol.

At 2:22 that new building is 108 units of subsidized homeless housing. That means that there would be 108 more people living in the street if that place was not there. I wonder how many more of these type of places are in the area?

I try to tell My Son, he's 12, about how not everyone is on drugs and/or alcohol. Some/most are but others ended up homeless because of losing their job, which might of caused them to lose their home and most are in need of meds and medical attention. Some are even Veterans who've been in combat and when they came home, couldn't re-adjust to regular everyday life. 🙏

Couldn't believe my eyes when I first visited LA and traveled through some of the hoods on my way downtown (got completely lost). I grew up in post-USSR Eastern Europe, so I'm used to poverty and rundown places, but what amazed me was how you could have these insanely rich posh places and then a couple of blocks away some guy is living in a tent next to a fucking dumpster. Such a huge gap in standards.

I finally appreciate what it does to your dignity to have to live like this. There was a time when I said, how can people live like that? Once when I was between jobs, I lived in the worst of neighborhoods, and was glad to get that place. Then jobs were plentiful; I worked hard to move to a safer place. No, I was never homeless, but closer to it than I thought I would ever be. This could happen to anyone. People should not judge them or look down on them. They are, mostly good people in a bad situation.

L.A Cops go around and round up homeless people and bring them to this area and drop them off. When people get out of jail or prison they are also dropped off in this area. The homelss shelters and soup kitchens are right there. These are the people that don't want to be in the shelter.

Some/most are but others ended up homeless because of losing their job, which might of caused them to lose their home and most are in need of meds and medical attention. Couldn't believe my eyes when I first visited LA and traveled through some of the hoods on my way downtown (got completely lost). I grew up in post-USSR Eastern Europe, so I'm used to poverty and rundown places, but what amazed me was how you could have these insanely rich posh places and then a couple of blocks away some guy is living in a tent next to a fucking dumpster. Also if they were trying to escape weather conditions, I highly doubt living in New York, DC, Chicago, or Detroit would be a good option. I'm not sure where you got that idea. Seems like totally utter speculation. Additionally, you have it the wrong way around. Those programs exist *because* of the high volume of homeless.
We have seen the effects of these economic policies waaay too much in the past to buy into them. Just please stop denying the reality. There is absolutely no coincidence that homelessness, crime, and poverty thrive in Democrat districts with higher taxes, higher minimum wage, and dumb business laws (many of which prevent small business from succeeding).

L.A Cops go around and round up homeless people and bring them to this area and drop them off. When people get out of jail or prison they are also dropped off in this area. The homelss shelters and soup kitchens are right there. These are the people that don't want to be in the shelter.
