Graat video, i worked in this building regularly from about 2009-2015. Ground floor was mostly offices and clinics. The room that looks like a call centre was just agile office working space. Was very plush when finsihed.

@@AR-hq3yf Thanks. It looked like it was solid, sturdy and well maintained. Loved that “call centre type room” so light and airy too. The basement was a bit creepy though!
Thanks for providing some more info.

No worries yes it was a really sturdy old building, originally built as a hydro hotel, obviously lots of the interiors were remodelled in the 1980s, still had loads of original features. All of the services from here were moved to a purpose built mental health hospital. I would imagine after the fire at the weekend it's likely to be demolished. @@1974bazzaaa

@@AR-hq3yf The fire damage will probably have made it structurally unsafe in parts, surprised how quickly it ripped through and that no one spotted the fire until it had really spread. The false ceilings were hiding a lot of decorative features!

@@AR-hq3yf It was a bit discombobulating with all the twists and turns in the basement. Very easy to lose your sense of direction.

After watching this video ive just searched on google about the fire, it was sold in july and then this happens. Such a shame it looks like its absolutely gutted now.

@@simonsanigar3581 I agree. Fairly easily could’ve been converted to flats, big rooms coming off those large corridors.
The access to the building was never sealed up over a number of months which tells me that the owners never even checked up on the building and its condition as they could’ve sealed it up with little effort.
The fire could’ve easily been prevented.
      Thanks for your comment

@@1974bazzaaa It cost a fortune to maintain when it was in use, it had constant issues.
After being left to rot for nearly 4 years the cost of renovation would have been massive.

@ I get that. Crazy though that it’s cheaper to demolish and rebuild rather than refurbish

Could you do a video on Occleshaw House, Leyland? That is being left to rot. They tried to burn it down but failed. And I suspect it will be difficult to gain entry. Edit: According to Companies House the two brothers live in Southport - Ltd Co.

Must be a twisted insurance deliberate job because I worked here as security over thr summer. Although the ground floor had mould and urine from previous squatters etc plus mushrooms growing from some carpets...the upper floors were in near pristine condition, as if it had only been vacated that morning, and as a Mental Health unit was incredibly sturdy with tough walls.of double thickness. I smell a rat!!!

I went there for a job interview, and still awaiting a responce officaily to say yes or no, when they asked how i was going to get the every day i said Merseyrail, they where not happy at that idea as i didnt drive at the time, and merseyrail have so many cancellations i would have been late more than early they probaly thought,as i said still awaiting a responce many years later.
If only they had security and shut all the fire doors and had working smioke and fire alarms, what a tragic waste of buiding and a huge waste of all thet NHS property that could have been sold reused, but thats the NHS for you to much cash to waste, always buy new.

@@TheSadcyclist I don’t think you’ll hear about the job now, sad if your success was down to a train operator though!
The power was on at the time of the video so the fire alarms might have been connected…but I doubt it as it’s another cost!
I’ve just put a drone video up of the damage if you haven’t seen it that closely. It’s looking like demolition I think.
