I only just saw your video. We are about to put this engine in our LT. Can't believe that not only were we beaten to it, but by years 😂. We had a British Ford Capri old school 3 litre in it, then a Jaguar v8 on LPG, but the M57 is the perfect engine for it I think. We are going for about 260hp and adding a separate overdrive gearbox independent of the main autobox to allow for great highway cruising
That's nuts! Love how the inspection cover finds use, plus reuse of the coolant tank means secondary inspection hatch also reusable (I have later model with two hatches). Would be a crazy upgrade from my original 60hp lol! Got the ACT NA engine...

Would this engine also fit in the reguler non 4x4 VW LT1? With the spring coil front axle. Did you keep the original LT gearbox or replace it with a BMW transmission?

Now I'm torn. I've been looking for a decent syncro to get your 2l tdi boxeer...the LT dang bud..still hoping for an update on that pdk trans in your syncro...I want to cruise at 75mph.. reliably. Anyways congrats on the LT it is another awesome retrofit. If I cannot find the syncro I'm looking for the LT...may do the trick

Wow. I hope the rear axles can stand the so much stronger engine. Are you using a BMW gearbox, or have you used an adaptor to conect to the original one? If you use the original LT gearbox, aren't the RPM's to high? I have not had the posibility to study an original 4X4 LT. What is the normal clerance from the oil pan to the front axle? is this BMW engine leaning less to the right than the old DV engine? I am well under way with converting my 2wd Karmann LT, from 75hp NA diesel to 2,5TDI 116hp, 5 pot AAT Engine. It is mostly electronics remaining. The clerance under the bellypan, to the front axle was around 1 inch, now it is about 0,4 inch. It is leaning a wery little bitt less to the right. I will use the Volvo M46 overdrive gearbox, from a Volvo 240 Diesel, to reduse the RPM's with 22%. The M46 gearbox weight 33kg and the old LT gearbox 55kg, so the LT gearbox must be strong.
Use a 2.5 TDI engine from a VW T4 or a Volvo 850 / V70 / S70. It fits the bellhousing of your gearbox and you can alter your existing engine mounts and oil sump to make it fit.

If you need to ask things like that, don't even think to make an engine conversion. Better find a competent mechanic.

What looks like a auto lever is the transfer case 4H 2H 4L , there is an actual 5speed shifter next to it...

A 2.0 TDI conversion would be amazing. Is it possible? My LT has the 2.4l 6 cylinder patrol engine, which is not very fuel efficient.🤢
