Awesome van! I like the power numbers you mentioned. I've always like the Westy campers. But, doubtful it could tow a racecar, especially up a hill... or could it? 🤔🤔 Ok, so I have a thing for racecars and hill. 😉 lol
Good video, & great showing the rear carrier cracks was interesting as I didn’t think of that as I’m looking at getting the same carrier. I did get a bit lost with the camera moving way too fast though. A bit slower would have been easier tp watch 👍
That's crazy. I did the the same.. I originally bought an 86 Syncro passenger van but it was rusted out, too far to save. I bought an 86 2w passenger van and put the Syncro trans axle/fuel tank in it (haven't done the front yet) then I also did a roof swap for the pop top. I put an Ecotec engine in mine but I've been toying with doing a TDI swap instead. I'm curious, did you have to re-gear your trans for the diesel?
I want to add that out new TSI is a torque monster... so if you want to stick to same fuel get more power and torque without regear... consider our TSI swap
i have a 1990 2.1 wbx syncro but i am not sure if i want to keep it. Has not been used for a few years and so much black smoke coming out of the exhaust. Also i am afraid of high future maintenance cost. BUt really cool car
@@Syncrogreg ah i am located in the netherlands in Europe. So thats tricky. I am thinking about selling but on the other hand i love it so i am not sure yet. Very little rust aswell. I am looking for a way to drive it cheaper, instead of 8liters per km. it was used for the swiss postal service.
It's a tank! It fell a few times and I dragged it several feet rubbing on rough ground and it never ever busted. Got many branches in it. The construction is very solid. It is an actual solid thick wall Chanel where the coolant travels VS other thin radiators where you can push with your nail and bend the cooling channel. I highly recommend this solid type 👌 💪

Yes this one can definitely tow a racecar 😂 easy
Good to see your rig Greg. The BOXEER TDI in my van is providing speed and excellent mileage. A pleasure to drive now.
Looking forward to seeing this bad boy moving. Subscribed for the moving videos
Very nice build. I am glad you are able to enjoy it with your family.
Talked to you on the phone the other day while I was down in Tennessee great chatting with you. Love the Syncro can’t wait to get the TDI in mine!
Frere haha trop bien. Video was amazing you’re the best out there. Staying real is the deal.
Merci!
Bonjour de la Belgique
Very Nice! Would love to know what parts you used to make it a Syncro? THX! 🙂
Merci Greg , depuis le temps c etait attendu

Blessed Family!
Was that van listed publicly and was that the original color when purchased ?

The stock syncro trans with TDI best ratio is 1.14 3rd and 0.70 4th The diesel has so much torque! You'll be glad you did the swap!

where did you source all the double pained windows?
The French marketplace! It's hard to come by but have been a next level setup. Also really light compared to the glass

Did you have problems with the cooler upfront? It looks unprotected.
