    My first dog was a beagle he recently passed away in 2020 of may, he was such a good boy and I just miss him so much! He was always a puppy from the start to finish. We didn’t train him much but he was still such a good dog. He lived to 16 years old which I think is pretty old and he was such a charm. It makes me emotional thinking about him because I never got to say goodbye when he went to the vet for the last time. I wish he was still here today and sometimes I just imagine myself holding him

    I used to walk my 2 beagles off leash all the time and not in a dog park. I'd call them and they'd either stop where they were or would come running back to me. It's all on how you raise them and train them.

    At one time I had 15 beagles (when I lived on 10 acres). I have always had only beagles since I was 10, I am now 60. I always had at least 2 beagles at one time because they do suffer separation anxiety if left alone too long. But if I hand them a hot dog after I get home all is well. To train a beagle just make sure they know you are the alpha. Don't be cruel but make sure your voice is strong and commanding. Saying "please" does not work with beagles. All in all they are the best breed around.

      My first beagle is a mix with boxer. Yes her beagle comes out loves food, and talk lol if I don't pay attention the howling starts trying to talk. Had dobermans for 64 years and she grew up with 2 dobermans and thinks she is one lol and then the boxer comes out very, very protective. Someone hit me one night that person never did that again she got very protective of her dad. I wouldn't have changed that. She is a cuddler sleeps under the cover with me. So cute pretty if I were to get another dog it be beagle boxer for real. Love the breed very special dog

    Im so glad point 6 doesnt apply to my Beagle!
    Idk why, but he is really independent at nature, had a safe space early on, is very confident and we often left him alone in our kitchen (where he has his safe space) since puppyhood. He was rarely alone, but often he just co-existed with the humans in the house. So when he matured and wasnt crazy with energy anymore, and liked to sleep a little longer, around 5yrs old, he was pretty comfortable alone at home.

    A beagle was my first dog as an adult. I was fortunate to have a co worker who was also a dog trainer. He did succumb to two on the list of over weight and separation anxiety. Him being chubby was his diet and not lack of exercise. We changed his food and he dropped the weight. Separation anxiety was my fault trusting a relative, who had dogs, when he was young. He got loose and luckily I found him on the edge of the woods wandering. He certainly came when I called him. It was an uphill battle after that just to get him be alone for 4 hours. Daddy had to work. Being the escape artist he then got out of my condo by slapping the the door lever until it popped open. There was no way for him to get out of the building. Most of my neighbors knew him but at the time my super found him and called me that he couldn’t contain him. I had to have a dead bolt installed in my front door. This was all within the first year. Once we got beyond that it was easy breezy. There’s always a learning curve no matter how prepared you think you are.

    We take Shiloh to the park 2-3 times a week for an hour atleast and then a ton of walks in between the rest of the week plus he has a morki and shiba inu as pack mates and plays constantly and he still can be mischievous. Crate training is a must if not just for keeping him out of trouble when we are away from home it atleast let's him know it's his rest time because he's got so much energy.

    I am a first time dog owner and has a beagle which is now 3 months old.. my pup bites everything. Like furniture, my clothes and my body too. But when he's biting my hand he do it a little gentle but it still hurts. I've seen a lot of videos that says that if it hurts then cry and your dog will understand that he did wrong, but that's not the case with my puppy. So I wanna ask you that does this biting process fades away after teething period or do I have to train him to not bite. And also can I train my dog by myself or should I hire a trainer?

    I got my beagles in pairs of brothers of same litter. Going on the second pair, I can attest that their behavior is spookingly consistent: equal parts hunter and pack, these are 200% more dog than any other dog breed I had. Other breeds are cute, funny, playful, sleep in their bed or by your feet. Beagles are explorers, they will find secret places to sleep or escape, they work together, and they will sleep very close to your face, even on your face and neck. I'm convinced that the velociraptors in Jurassic Park movies are modelled after beagles 🤣... They can be trained. I put apart an amount of their food, and whenever they are away I call and whistle, and when they come I gave them a little food. This recall training is essential because they will go explore silently and you won't find them. Still, I have a GPS collar for them in case they find a weakness in my fences, the first pair gave lots of trouble and I reinforced the lower part and put bricks so they can't dig under. The second pair has not yet found any weakness, but with enough motivation they might. They are not dogs for disorganized families with children or adult members that will leave doors open while being distracted on their phones. And plan for abundant exercise. As puppies they could eat their own weight in food, and because of their exceptional sense of smell they can be very hungry and get overweight. Two is better than one, if you can afford, because they will wrestle and play with each other all day.

      Some dogs feel fine in a crate, others do not. As social as beagles are, he may just feel that you are getting rid of him and never really adjust. I've found it's best to have them sleep with you. You can turn this into a ritual and he will love you more for it. Best of luck.

    • @Nature_Wildlife369
      @Nature_Wildlife369 3 роки тому +1

      1.) Start your training now, it is the right time.
      2.) Second thing beagle don't like traps.
      Leave them free, just put them on leash when you are having your meal or if you are alone at home and doing some important task where you need to be alone. Start putting on leash when it is of 65 days. For few days it will quine but slowly it will get habitual.

      1.) Whenever they bite you, make a loud noise like "ouch". This will make them sense that they are hurting you.
      2.) Keep soft toys or the toy they love most with you, Whenever you play with them and they start biting, give them the soft toys for biting, slowly they will leave biting you.
      3.) Whenever they follow your command while doing above two points say good boy/ girl, and give them treat as a reward for following your commands.
      Above all tricks worked for me. These tricks not only work for beagle, it's for every dog.

      I was told by my beagle's trainer that the eating random things would stop at 6 months. So you'll just have to keep a close eye on him until then. I have a 5 month old and she will literally eat rocks, hopefully it stops. And my dog goes to a groomer, and they trim her nails!! It should totally be fine!! Just warning: beagles are extremely dramatic when it comes to nail trimming lol

    BS. My Beagle is off leash everyday, both at the park and even in the street. He also never barks just for the sake of it, and he spends alot of time alone while I'm at work, especially when he was a puppy. Don't let this video turn you off. What are your ideas about female beugle spaying

    • @BeagleCare
      @BeagleCare  Рік тому

      Spaying comes with it's own pros and cons. It's upto you to decide.
      Pros:
      it can help prevent unwanted pregnancies, which is a big deal if you're not planning on breeding your Beagle. Plus, it cuts down the risk of certain health issues like uterine infections and breast tumors. Those things can be really serious and even life-threatening.
      Cons:
      There could be complications with anesthesia, or infections after the procedure. It's also gonna cost you some money and require some time for recovery.
      Please talk with your vet to get professional advice.

    hounds go hunting. Of course hunting is not done on a leash. Of course beagles can be left off leash, in fact they MUST be left free, with the right training, to be balanced and happy. Hounds never get lost. This is the most stupid myth ever heard.

    • @BeagleCare
      @BeagleCare  6 місяців тому

      Beagles are indeed a type of hound, specifically bred for their keen sense of smell to track scents. While they can be allowed off-leash in safe, enclosed natural environments like jungles and forests, this should be done with caution. In these settings, beagles will likely engage in their natural behavior of tracking and chasing small animals.
      However, allowing beagles to roam off-leash in urban or even suburban settings is risky. The presence of vehicles poses a significant danger not only to the beagles, who may instinctively chase after something without regard to their surroundings, but also to drivers and passengers. The scenario of a beagle chasing across a street in pursuit of a scent could lead to accidents, potentially injuring the dog and humans involved.

      @@BeagleCare My beagle was always off leash in forests and beaches and anywhere far away from cars. She never got lost. She passed from cancer, 11 years old. Restricting a beagle on a leash is a crime. Beagles are born to hunt. Hunting is done ONLY in the wild. People who dont know how to train a beagle off leash should never get a beagle.
