The creators are in a bad spot. The game is delayed so they are already hurting financially. And most of them dont have the viewership level of Z to counter that financial loss. Lollujo talked about it on his stream. The game being delayed is causing him significant financial damage specially because he makes a majority of his yearly income at the first few months of the game.

I've been around in the gaming industry long enough to know that at this point it's not a question of "IF" this game is going to be bad, but a question of "HOW" bad will it be.
i hope its only moderate damage that is inconvenient but tolerable and not a complete trainwreck.
im suprised people are so caught up on graphics, because lets be honest the game is a giant excel spreadsheet and a simulator the graphics have never really bothered me.
I use 2D then 3D replays the graphics never bothered me cause my laptop couldn’t even handle them. My university one now can handle it but I still don’t consider it a big pull for me
I gotta be honest and say I agree, the graphics don't bother me as well but I legitimately do like playing older games like Dawn of War I and Age of Mythology even in the current day.

60 euro for a half finished video game is just too much. SI screwed this up big time. For years they have announced FM25 and said they wont do much changes to Fm23 and 24. yet we are still getting a half finished game which the rest of it will come out in 26. so no point in buying 25 if we can just download it for free before 26 comes out

I'm trying to stay optimistic but the lack of info along with the dropped features shows that SI has a lack of confidence in the game. It seems like they've encountered a lot of problems they don't have the resources to solve in time for launch.
If you're not a content creator & guaranteed to make money from this game, then pre-ordering is mad. I have the feeling this might not even be worth purchasing till a few months down the road.

I had a strange idea. I'll preface by saying it would be highly improbable. Imagine if FM made a mode called flashback or something. You could take charge at pivotal points of clubs/National Teams history (I.E When SAF stepped down from United or when Pep left Barca or when Scaloni got appointed). You would have the same squads that existed then in an FM sense (Sort of like NBA2K's way of being able to go between eras in manager mode). Would give Zealand a lot of material and if successful. Could branch into being able to do eras like 2K does it. Also would have the same rules as the time obv. I know it would be so hard to do and it would be time consuming to find all the players from Indonesia's 2nd tier in 2013 and quantify their worth now but just a cool idea
Some people release historical databases but for that to be put in the base game would be an insane amount of work.
Even the one feature they feel confident in feels like a downer. They talked about women's football as early as 2021, after four years the feeling is more "it's about time" rather than seeing it as an exciting new thing. Combine that with the lack of national team management and the hype for the feature is kind of dead, at least for me.

I’m far less concerned about the lack of game being shown before release than the console/mobile ification of FM. The game is being made worse to simplify it for casual players. I play all 3 ways of playing the game but I do not want my core playing experience (PC) to be less than it should be. It’s a slap in the face to hardcore fans that have bought the game for 10+ years
100% agree. They are stabbing the hardcore fans in the back to chase the console cash.
It's such a weird place for them to be in, if the game isn't complete enough to show then they can either show it and have people panic that it looks bad, or they show what they expect it to look like and risk a No Man's Sky scenario if it's not ready to roll on release day. I'd rather they delayed it further if they risked a mess.
Why pay full price for a game with less options? And a bunch of redesigned user interfaces?

You know what sounds like a bad idea to me? Implementing women football when you don't even have the basic game together.
The amount of time to input everything regarding female football and it's balancing has to be HUGE, and I'll bet everyone that no more then 5% of the saves will even touch women's football.
But who t f needs international football ehj. LOL
Outside of day 1 content creating *COUGH* Lollujo *COUGH* it'll be 0.5% for women, but you know they'll use day 1 numbers as a year long stat for the women to hide the fact they're pandering to a non existent fanbase
Indonesian second division vs Women's football is not a just comparison of resources allocated vs the benefits. You probably had to analyze a whole lot of aspects of women's game to create a realistic simulation of it, so it's a lot more resources than just sending scouts and creating database. And you can compare women's football with the Latvian league or the second division of Indonesian football, but on the whole that you can play in Belarus or Portuguese lower leagues is a huge part of the appeal of the game.
Anyway, women's game, once added, probably will be a lot easier to maintain than "invent", so maybe it'll make a profit, but perhaps they could've done it a year after jumping to unity engine. Doing both at the same time seems crazy.

It’s definitely concerning that we know so little this close to launch, but ultimately even if the new graphics engine is bad or worse than what people had hoped for it’s still going to be football manager at its core.
For me I know that I’ll enjoy FM regardless of the changes, but I was hoping that the graphics being more modern might entice a larger crowd into the game which in turn would help the game to continue to grow and become better.
I think I’m going to wait until after Christmas to decide if I’m going to get it
I completely get your concerns, the FM 2020 trailer was released a whole FIVE YEARS before FM 25!

I'm not nervous. I can still play FM24 if the game sucks. I played CM 01/02 for years while we waited for FM to get good, and I can do the same here. The people melting down over FM25 need help.
Definitely not pre-ordering FM25, there's no reason to, and they haven't given us one.
Even the screenshots they shared on steam are still "Work in Progress", they haven't even got the UI complete for a screenshot...
The thing that most non developers don’t understand is that the engine may not do that much for visuals. If they’re just porting the current assets all we’ll see is maybe a little different lighting. But unity is not necessarily known for being a great rendering engine

I thought removing the international games was a joke. It’s hard to take a company which does that seriously. I’ll stick with FM22.
Personally I won't be touching an FM game again until shouts and international management are back in.
Shouts are even more important for me, and if that never returns then I won't be playing FM anymore as it's no longer a realistic management simulation then, as being able to influence a game during each half is an absolute non-negotiable for me.
Actually gave EA FC 25, a try after many many years this year to replace FM, and now as their tactics are very much like FM in this year's release I'm loving that game - and I can actually influence the match during each half by playing it. (without plugging in a match engine breaking tactic which without shouts, is now your only viable option in the new FM.)
Last fm i bought was 22, was gonna get 25. Might wait til 26
You have really missed out not getting 24. Seasons play a little faster and the match simulation feels better. Also a few more tactical options.

I'd recommend trying to pick up an FM24 key whenever it's on sale (sometimes goes for free on EGS as well). It's definitely the peak of this old engine.

I feel they should have kept the transition to Unity secret. It would have allowed them to change their mind if it wouldn't be ready, or, surprise everyone a week before the release with a "Oh, we're on Unity now!"
But then they'd have to develop two versions simultaneously

Women's football should not have been introduced UNTIL they got aspects of the base game right, where there was still significant room for improvement. That they chose to prioritize it, even to the extent of sacrificing core game elements (e.g. international football) is particularly galling. I hope the game bombs because this is a company that really needs to learn a lesson in time management.
Z's point about more people playing it than Indonesian 2nd division was disingenuous; if not many people are playing that maybe we should remove that league as an option, rather than adding more stuff with low utility. Time will tell on how many people actually end up playing WF.

As for my policy, i don't play ever FM games, generally i wait 3-4 years and stay with the same build. Why because generally the "update" is a scam ^^ This one sounds terrible lol

Zealand, I think Kirby"s height is what it is, is because these are not actually screenshots, but mockups made in a separate program for a presentation, which is why the highlights and some of the information doesn't make sense. So really, we don't even have anything from the game, as of yet.

I think the issue is that we have only seen 5 screenshots, so there is nothing to get excited about. We have remember that underneath the new engine it's going to be the same game. People have been asking for an evolution of the game for years. Now it's happening, People are nervous.
Will the shouts be returning? The thing people love about FM’s is the realism but taking out things like shouts seems like a backward step…. I get the international management for a year but this year it’s s meant to be a new era but feels like it will be going backwards
Plenty of people knock women's football coming to the game and all the rest of it but one distinct advantage the women's database will have over the men's is that we will be able to play as if the entire database was newgens at the start of a save because we have never watched a game of women's football in our lives and don't know any of the players 🤣🤣🤣

In the announcment tailor around the 30 second mark there are two laptops, the foreground laptop has a player screen and the backgroud laptop has a match playing. I want to believe that that match is the graphics engine. I hope I am right.

What worries me is that they cut the international part of the game because only 5% of people played it (that's still 1 in 20 people), but then they're adding something that is A LOT harder to make right than international management and might honestly average the same number of players. It doesn't make sense from the perspective of someone that's making the game... Must be some serious mismanagement going on at SI. Kinda reminds me of what happened at Creative Assembly.

I'm going to stick with FM24. Even though this will be the first version I've not bought in 20 years. (I didn't have a good-enough PC when CM4 came out).
I'm sure FM 25 will be fine but will likely feel like a year-long Beta and I like some of the features they're removing. I've got a good career save going on too so I'll wait for the more polished FM 26.
Strangely having the same thoughts about Flight Simulator 2024, the old version is fine so I'll keep playing that for now.
This is me too, preordered every game since 15 but I'm out entirely, as bad as it is if anyone wants to see it let Lollujo and friends play it, set the video to mute (so we don't hear the fluff of pandering) and laugh
Simply they are overthinking it. The game is perfect and all we wanted was better graphics and maybe playability. It’s cool that it’s becoming console friendly but who cares but the game is unfinished and half the gameplay we had won’t be there. For a game that has been consistently good has done something this dumb is crazy. I’m not buying the game purely cuz it’s unfinished and looks a bit shit. FM24 with the editor and lots of databases essentially covers what you need/want
I think the game is going to be not great for about half a year or so with tons of glitches but towards the end of the cycle will become more fun as they patch the glitches and issues that come up.
Only Zealand can make analysis about nothing and make it entertaining.

You feel nervous, I feel disappointed. My opinion - they built this game edition like a celebration, starting a new era for the Football Manager game and what was officially announced so far for this "new era" consists of a lot (I would say) of features being removed based on numbers (I get it) and a fluff trailer containing 2-3 screenshots of the actual game. And don't get me started about "oh, why do you need game shots in this kind of trailer". Simple - EAFC and old FIFAs were showing me how the game looked like, new features in the game trailer. I think that I need to be shown what I am buying/waiting for.
And no information about early access. At this point, I am not sure what the purpose of pre-ordering is - only to cut 10% of the total amount?
In my opinion, everything is underwhelming so far. This is supposed to be the start of something new for Football Manager and there is nothing that gets me excited about it.
I didn’t buy FM24 because of the promise of FM25 and the potential to make something graphically superior with the Unity engine. Disappointed that things have been taken out of the game but understand they want to do everything properly. Couldn’t care less about the women’s game being in there - just my opinion.

Why does anybody pre order a game these days? Nothing is ever out of stock due to digital. It's insanity giving away money for something before you see it, just because.

Could it be that the delay is due to having to create a whole different match engine for a women's game compared to the men's game? I mean if the WSL version of Arsenal v Chelsea looks exactly the same as the Premier League version then I am sure there will be negative reaction to that.
TBF comparing Women football to unknown league would be fair, IF they didn't say themselves that the addition of WF was a huge effort (comparing it to the effort they needed to move to unity). Those unknown leagues did not require that much effort and investment.
That's the biggest point I think against women football, it's not that it is in the game, it is that it's in no way shape or form worth the investment in time and effort they had to allocate for it. ESPECIALLY when they announce so many things removed from the game

i share the same worries you pointed in the video...and even worse because the screenshots look really bad in my opinion...and also the changes in the UI look really bad...if it aint broke dont fix it...new game engine good idea, but dont change the overall aspect of the game beacause that was always what made me like FM...nowadays game developers try to make the games aspect cattered for both PC and mobile, DONT DO THAT...just do 2 separate versions...things you can do with a keyboard its not the same you do touching...sry for the rant and best regards
One reason I'm scared is that to me, unity means mobile first. If you eant to build a PC first you usually go for sometimes like unreal or similar
That's simply not true. Unity is very accessible and popular for PC development, and using Unreal for a game that's 90% looking at 2D stats and tactics would be like driving a Boeing 747 to the grocery store.

In all reality, they should be aiming for a release around the start of the EPL season, And thats mid August. Its never been released mid August. But perhaps from 25 to 26 they need a shorter cycle and get it out a few weeks earlier. Most people would like to play in sync with the EPL season.

A game engine. When you develop a game you have to figure what engine to use or if you want to develope your own. It’s sort like a graphical framework. Unity is one of the most popular ones, probably only second to the unreal engine.
