Imagine any other band planning a come back concert-on the heels of two hit singles released just months before and also a mega-hit album (the White Album) never yet performed-and instead of performing all THOSE hit songs, you write all NEW songs for your return concert!
I remember on a Sunday night in February in 1964, sitting on the floor in my living room watching the Ed Sullivan show, just like we did every Sunday night. My father, mother and my older sister, and myself, I was 8 years old. This Sunday night was very special because a new Rock & Roll band named The Beatles were performing on Ed Sullivan that night,... which turned out to be an historical Sunday night in 1964. My sister had her friend over to watch with us, they were both 13 years. It was hard to hear the music because the fans in the Ed Sullivan studio audience were screaming sooo freaking loud, if that wasn't bad enough my sister and her friend were SCREAMING loud too!! I think my parents were thinking like WTF is this, LOL! It was a life changing experience for me, as I sat there watching and listening and seeing all these girls screaming at the top of their lungs, and some were even passing out watching The Beatles! I thought, that's a good job, I want to do that! All I wanted to do, was to buy a guitar and learn to play it, and I did just that. Apparently I was just one of millions and millions of young boys all over the US that wanted to do the same thing. The following months and years saw the sales of guitars and amps go through the roof, and it lasted for decades. It really is amazing how much these 4 guys accomplished in the few years they were together. They were fairly successful in Europe in their early years around 1961 and 62, but their popularity skyrocketed across the world after that Ed Sullivan performance. So if we consider their big beginning was in 1964, and we know they broke up in late 1969 or early 1970,... so they were together as a band for only 5-1/2 years or so!! It's astounding how much these guys accomplished in such a short period of time, it is unprecedented to this day. Even if you consider their beginning in 1959 when John and Paul met, it's still only 10 years together, phenomenal. I loved the Beatles and still do today, I learned to play guitar, started a band and had a lot of fun. Although I didn't get the screaming girls, there were other benefits of being a guitar player in a Rock band, if you know what I'm saying! Some girls would stay around after we finished the show and wanted to meet us, and um,...uh,... well you know!. Today I'm 65 years old and still playing guitar every day! It's still a very big part of my life, all because of one single Sunday night back in 1964.
Nice to see you're into The Beatles, I was blown off my feet as a 6yr old in 1962/63, everything changed then. Keep an open mind when reading about The Beatles, a lot of rubbish has been said over the last 25/30 yrs by people who probably went even around at the time, including the hate against Yoko. Check out Harri, he sees through a lot of it & makes perceptive comments.
Ok, I came back to the start of this after watching Pt 3. I’m loving your reactions and analysis. I subscribed and will comment to let you know I’m here and feed the algorithm!
Wow! I’ve been following you for a while, and to see how much you know about them now to them is impressive. I watched 2 parts of the 3 so far and I gotta say it’s been amazing so far
They'd finished the White Album a couple of months before these sessions. They also introduce most of Abbey Road during these Get Back sessions, as well as future solo hits. I'd guess they'd written at least 60 songs in a year? Most of them classics.
The original director Michael Lindsay-Hogg is supposedly the illegitimate son of actor/director giant Orson Welles, something I didn’t hear about until recently.
Been waiting to see your reaction to this. As a creative guy, you’ll have a great insight into the process. And I agree, the restoration is amazing. I remember seeing the Let It Be movie in the theatre when it was released and how dark and dreary the film was. And how depressing. This really tells a better story and shows the true relationship. Yeah, the band was ending, but there wasn’t all the fighting and anger until after, when the moneymen and leeches got their claws into:the now-individual band members. And yes, I left a like, and I’m a long-time subscriber!
It's definitely a sensitive subject. Sadly, he was going through a lot and took his hands off the steering wheel at this point; they were basically each other's security blanket.
the 1970 let it be film won an oscar, the video is on youtube. i think this aswell might win best documentary and best film music. yes, they are around 25-28 years old, crazy to think that they were all still in their 20s when they broke up

Hey, it's the Beatles: it will be well-received.

Yeah they broke up when they were 27 pretty ridiculous, as a 22 almost 23 year old I feel like a LOSER.
get focused, you’re not a loser, your time will come
Me likey this 👍
be sure to leave a like!
Nice reaction. But too short, man. Need more, lol
I have no problem with yoko, she seems like a great lady, but did John really have to bring her to every rehearsal?
It's definitely a sensitive subject. Sadly, he was going through a lot and took his hands off the steering wheel at this point; they were basically each other's security blanket.
that wasn't peter jackson standing next to ian mckellen when you were talking about him
The Beatles wrote 213 songs from 1962 - 1970
Eggcellent
0:13 That's not Peter Jackson but it's ok. Easy mistake. Christian Rivers kinda looked like him in that photo.
Don't forget about us when you become famous.
never
