Those knives are not safe to be using in any capacity for any sort of life saving work. Other videos have tested these kits... You can buy Mora Knives specifically deisgned for survival and bushcraft for cheaper than 14.99 built 1000x better than anything ANY OF THOSE KITS UNDER ANY BRAND NAME could ever give you. What these kits are ... are whole sale mass produced inferior quality garbage. If all you want is a blade any will do... If you want something that isnt going to fail and result in injury Get an actual trusted brand knife. I would trust a Dollar Store bought Victorinox Swiss Army knife more.
Listen man do not take this the wrong way. Im glad youre proud of your multiple piece kit you got a deal on but the reality is these kits are whole sale assembled junk the same wash rinse repeat kits sold with varying items under different names but the same gear. I have one that was given as a gift. They are christmas stocking stuffer "Checks the box" kits. None of this stuff would you EVER want to trust your life to and call a "Survival Kit". If this is your Survival kit... You have a ton to learn. They are filled with all black items that "Look cool" appeal to the eye but in reality could get into a situation FAR FAR Worse than if you had nothing. That knife...When hardly any pressure is appied tothe side of it the Blade Wobbles in it... They often do not Stay locked open and the locks collapse under pressure. Just because it looks cool doesnt mean its what you want to call your "Survival Knife". They fill these kits with filler items youre never going to use most of the items in this kit. Theyre made with the buyer in mind put in flashy items in tactical black Slap Survival on it and will sell to anyone who doesnt have a clue what theyre doing when it comes to surviving. Just because you could make it work in the worst case scenario doesnt mean you should throw it in the car and check the box" I have a survival kit". The way you speak and scraped that ferro rod tells me you dont really know how to use that equipment or about it. Those rods are covered a layer to prevent corrosion of the ferro rod. That little TINY rod is the only rod in those kits usually to start a fire to survive and they absolutely suck. Theres an outdoors guy who made a video trying to start a fire with it and could not get enough spark and it flew out of the bracelet and was never found again and hes actually an experienced bushcrafter with a well established channel. Look at other videos on these of people giving their honest review. If all you want is to check a box... "Items to survive" Take a book of matches wrap it in thread with a fish hook and a razor blade and call it good. Throw it in the car. Fishing, fire, cutting tool check. The reality is sadly... that would probably get you further in a situation than this kit would and that is a very sad excuse for a survival kit. Just because you would buy that knife at a gas station for 15$ doesnt mean the kit is worth it. The knife is absolute poorly built junk. The mylar blanket is made of the absolute cheapest material they can make one from and rips instantly. The Bracelet is not real paracord... it tangles badly youll almost never get it untangled. The ferrorod on that sucks. The button compass will probably leak and not work. In real Survival you do not want a BUTTON COMPASS... You want a baseplate compass or a Lenstatic Compass to shoot headings not general directions. SAVE YOUR MONEY. Buy a quality knife of the best you can Afford Any Mora is 100X better than that junk. Buy a Bic lighter wrap a few feet of jute twine around the lighter Throw in some matches dip the heads in wax. . Go to wal mart get you a Mylar Blanket for 2$ Get you a one liter bottle preferably aluminum so you can boil water or cup and bottle set. Get a Compass and learn how to use it to walka straight line. If you want a ferrorod get one of Quality Firesteel.com has great ones... start BIG... Buy two one to practice one to dedicate to your kit. You could even buy a cheapo UST off Amazon or walmart for 8$ its 1000x better than those bracelet ones. Get some good line strength fishing line a couple sinkers and some hooks make your own fishing kit. Put it into a small plastic bag. Find you a signal mirror. Get a decent quality flashlight be it a small one or hand sized one. those simple items would help you survive 100X better than anything in these cheap flashy kits. Yes I typed a few paragraphs but I want people to know the truth and ACTUALLY SURVIVE and not leave their life up to the fate of a poorly designed inferior quality kit.
I bought this on sale for $14.99 - the knife was worth that alone.
