Looks great! Matt Paul at Kraken Kreations is awesome. I owe it to him for sending me most of my uk collection. Here in the States, you never find any Action Force figures or vehicles. He was the first friend I made in the collecting community on your side of the pond and he is a top notch guy!
This Action Force carrier is a long dream of mine to eventually get for my GI Joe collection. I love how it was modified for the Action Force toyline to be more of a mobile play headquarters. The GI Joe one is a plain vehicle, but holds more action figures due to the non changed sections. Great video. Love seeing worn toys restored, but not always perfect.
I just picked up the GI Joe version at a thrift store for 3.99. Inside it had a motorcycle, 16 Gi Joe file cards, and was 99% complete only missing the turret, which I patiently waited for months to get at a reasonable price, and now I've got the whole thing. The APC looks much less intersting than your version, but holds a LOT more figures. NICE.
There I was, about to finally go to sleep, but I guess now I'm gonna watch Dave clean up and rebuild a vintage toy that I have no personal connection to at all instead 😂 On a more serious note, Dave, your channel has become one of my favorites on YT by far. It's interesting and relaxing seeing you work your magic (and as I once wrote under another video, often reminds me of how my father fixed my toys) and the way you present it is in the best way reminiscent of "creative & educational" kids' shows from my childhood. A new Toy Polloi video always brightens up the moodiest day. I hope you never run out of broken toys to fix.
These are my favorite videos! I'm really surprised that a child did a comparatively good job customizing it with all that paint. You usually don't see so readily what they were going for when kids paint stuff.
I have the GI JOE version of this Troop Transport. The turret gun is completely different looking--no missiles and no aerial on top. For once, most of your toy fixes weren't super challenging, but rather required some scrubbing, and some minor construction! You sure improved this toy a lot--especially adding that third set of wheels to it. Nicely done!
Such a beautiful piece of toy history, I will get one of my own at some point, the current incomplete one I have is Jaxons, he won't let me steal it 😂😂
I had to do the same with Destros destroyer. Somebody covered the gold plastic in black model paint. Luckily I watched one of your videos the week prior
nice work. the folks who restore the large stamped metal vehicle toys (tonka, etc.) put their axles into the chuck of a drill and run the sandpaper up and down the axle while the drill is spinning. you can also use the drill method with a bench top grinder with a wire wheel attachment spinning in the opposite direction for more aggressive de-rusting. for the custom windscreen shields, you could attach them with a dab of silicon sealant, so they can be removed in the future
Hmm. I find especially with metalic paints that brushing it with 99c isopropyl turns it back into paint, and I can just take it off with a Q-tip. The brake fluid looks like it's getting underneat the paint layer and breaking the adhesion which is pretty cool.
After cleaning do you ever use Armor-All to condition the plastic? I find it helps restore some of the more caustic effects that cleaning solutions can cause and makes them look great.
I'm surprised the tabs for the top weren't broken off. I had two of the Joe version as a kid and the tabs easily broke. Not surprised to see the axles were bent though! Fantastic restoration, job well done!
I think there was a chair in the ATC for the communications officer or fire control officer at the computer area? Looks like part of the gray peg was still stuck in the center hole……..
If the seats don't fit Action Force figures properly, it isn't because they're made for GI Joe figures. Palitoy made an all-new interior for the rear area of this vehicle. The seats for the GI Joe version were different.
I have. They are great for small scuffs of paint. But will not make any difference on large areas like this. If you scrub to much with them they scratch the surface of the plastic. So you need to be careful. Cheers
Regarding the break fluid, will it also remove the "factory paint" from the toys, eg the black belt on vintage Luke Skywalker Bspin, or will it just remove paint that is equally to, lets say, Tip-Ex? 🙂
These are always great but this is of particular interest as Ive still got it and its fine. let me guess the main things that break are the catches on the side. Apart from my bloody dad letting my sister play with my action force and my bloody sister breaking gung ho's groin ??? ( that doesnt sound right) my acton force are pretty intact.
Hm. Very nice job as always Dave but I'd have kept the hatch with the P intact =) Adds a bit of history to the toy, and the color match on the replacement isn't 100%.
Wish we had things like that back in the 90's when I was a kid.
That’s one hell of a deal you got on that one Dave and you were able to restore it to a fantastic display piece. Enjoy!!👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks 👍
Looks like the infamous "P" had either siblings or friends with the same vehicle and didn't want them getting mixed up! Great video TP!!

I like that one better than the GI Joe version. 😁😁
Amazing job Dave, what an awesome restauration Hat off for the creative idea with the breakflluid, 💯
I hope the original owner is watching 😂
They'll be mortified that all their hard work has been undone.
🤣
Perhaps the original owner should be hunted down, named and shamed. Toi Polloi 3 maybe? 😅

Lucky find! It was enjoyable to see it restored to presentable. I wonder if "P"eter will ever watch this. I reckon he would be pleased.

Thanks. Glad you are enjoying my videos. Fixing toys is a very relaxing thing to do I find. And I hope that comes across in what I do and show. Cheers
Absolutely amazing job Dave, and so satisfying to watch. Great stuff. I was never into Action Force as a kid, but this half made me wish I was!
Hey Dave
You make my Thursday evenings more enjoyable, thank you.
Take care and Happy Weekend to you and MrsTP 😊

Glad you enjoyed it!
Biostrip 20 does a great job of removing paint from plastic, non-toxic too
Awesome I had this as a kid

Great job 👍
I don't know why i laughed so much at
'a child has gone to town with a silver paint pen' 😂
Cool fix. You actually make this vehicle look cool. I've seen a bunch of joe versions, but the Action Force vehicle is neat.
Such a beautiful piece of toy history, I will get one of my own at some point, the current incomplete one I have is Jaxons, he won't let me steal it 😂😂
I really need to get one of those APCs……so cool!
When it comes to the rod bending, I would probably be like Father Ted trying to fix the dent in his car.
I had to do the same with Destros destroyer. Somebody covered the gold plastic in black model paint. Luckily I watched one of your videos the week prior
Great job on restoring this awesome Action Force ATC, Dave.
Thank you much for the videos.
I love your repairs and it's very therapeutic. :)
I need one of these in my collection. :)
Glad you like them!
Wow that’s some amazing work that you did mate first class!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Impressive as usual!
Thank you! Cheers!
I love this restore

Thanks for the info

Well done! Great video. Enjoyed every minute.
This is such a beautiful vehicle. Im going to aim for one in the future!
I think there was a chair in the ATC for the communications officer or fire control officer at the computer area? Looks like part of the gray peg was still stuck in the center hole……..
Did you find what was making the rattling sound? Awesome restoration, and I want one of these to go with my GIJOES!
It was just some grit. Nothing interesting. Not an accessory which is what I was hoping.
If the seats don't fit Action Force figures properly, it isn't because they're made for GI Joe figures. Palitoy made an all-new interior for the rear area of this vehicle. The seats for the GI Joe version were different.
Have ever got the giant size Shogun Warriors or Mangler Z. I sold my guys but would love to see a restoration of them.
I've not seen them here in the UK. 🤔
Have you ever tried magic erasers they do a great job at getting paint off of plastic and can be reused with no chemicals needed
I have. They are great for small scuffs of paint. But will not make any difference on large areas like this. If you scrub to much with them they scratch the surface of the plastic. So you need to be careful. Cheers
Great job, as always!! Where did you get your spudger? The black tool you used for scraping? Ive been needing one of those for forever!!!
Thanks. I bought a pack of tools for opening mobile phones and it was full of useful things like this.
Have you tried nail polish remover or a cleaning product called simple green for paint removal?
I would not recommend nail polish remover as it is acetone based and will melt the plastic on most toys. Cheers
😊
Regarding the break fluid, will it also remove the "factory paint" from the toys, eg the black belt on vintage Luke Skywalker Bspin, or will it just remove paint that is equally to, lets say, Tip-Ex? 🙂
It really seems to just remove non factory paint. That's what I always use it for.
I have the G.I. Joe version of this, and its missing so many pieces!
We don't have emf plastic weld here in the states what would you suggest?
I'm sure others make plastic. I only use ema myself. Cheers
Is brake fluid nasty on the skin and fingers?
No it's fine. Just wash your hands well.
Stretcher came with doc figure gi joe
Came with that vehicle too.
Well what was making that rattling noise inside of it? A tasty Uzi, a tiny little microphone? The world needs to know! Or at least me😄
Just some dirt. Nothing interesting 😞
Hello I need help with my sky striker canopy the hing is broken
Hi, Check out my videos on the Sky Striker, they may help. Cheers
@@toypolloi ok thank you
Hm. Very nice job as always Dave but I'd have kept the hatch with the P intact =) Adds a bit of history to the toy, and the color match on the replacement isn't 100%.
That's the great thing with restoration and repairing toys, you can do as much or as little as you like.
