I understand why the metalcore guys take those vocal lessons though. They have a long career ahead of them and don’t want to lose their voice before the end of their prime. It just sucks that you lose so much emotion in the process.
@@Kotsoros37Bryan has been screaming on consistent tours since at least 2016, if not earlier, with no major drop in vocal quality (if anything, his screams got better over the years), which might be misleading but hopefully means that whatever he is doing is safe and won't wear his voice out. I see why people don't like his voice, but it is just so angry and aggressive, I love it

Knocked Loose are the modern version of what Korn was in 94-97. Really raw and heavy and real. No gimmicks or clean choruses, and a little bit of unhinged danger.
Definitely an acquired taste but when it grows on you it's awesome. It's not tough guy stuff like Throwdown or Kublai Khan. He sounds like an abused child or something, it works for the image they portray- vulnerable AND angry

@KM-iv9xy I love angry vocals, and Bryan has this insane energy and aggression nobody else I've heard can replicate. But I disagree about Matt Honeycutt though, he has a different style of scream but he also just sounds pissed off at everyone and everything. Too many singers fall into the technique over emotion trap, and it is especially easy with low screams and growls, but some manage to preserve the emotion, like Travis from Varials (shame he left, but the new vocalist sounds just as angry)

Might wanna check out Ringworm if you haven't heard of them yet. The vocalist is called Human Furnace and he's an absolute unit of a caveman just screaming his ASS OFF. My personal favorite album by them is Hammer of the Witch.
They are playing in my backyard essentially tonight at Bonnaroo. And I can't wait. I've been lucky to grow up in the tiny Tennessee town where it takes place and see legends from Meshuggah to Dillinger to Eminem play in the field behind my house. Now with that said, I expect them to get a massive reaction at Bonnaroo. And with them touring with rappers the sky is the limit as to where they can go.

Not sure exactly why you mean by atmospheric but you should check out Loathe. They are like a hybrid of deftones and hardcore sound. A song to check out is called “New Faces In the Dark” or if you want something heavier check out “Heavy Is the Head that Falls with the Weight of a Thousand Thoughts”

I thought the exact same thing when you referenced Turnstile's cinematography. This felt like a cross between "Turnstile Love Connection" and the A24 feel of Midsommar, Men, etc. The straw masks might be a nod to another dark film called "Kill List." Highly recommend.
Knocked Loose have the self-awareness that a lot of hardcore and metalcore bands don’t and I think that contributes to their authenticity and popularity a lot. Mix in Bryan’s unique voice and the band’s unapologetic attitude and you have lightning in a bottle 🔥

I first saw them live with Beartooth 5 years back and had not heard of Knocked Loose before. I was shocked when they came on with Bryan’s voice and my friend and I did not like it at all. But when “Different Shade of Blue” came out I decided to give them another chance, and once I had gotten used to Bryan’s voice I fell in love with them. Now I consider Bryan to be one of the best screamers in current music and I love all of their stuff. They continue to come out with amazing music and I’m always excited for them to put out more music.
Knocked Loose is one of my favorite bands. They are amazing live also. If they ever go butt rock then that will be a very very sad day 😂 but I truly believe that they could break out into the main stream while still sounding like this. I believe they are that good.
Saw them for the first time in Brooklyn, everything is quiet now has been my favorite song by them since it dropped and when they set up the wall of death to that last breakdown it made my heart so full (And sent me at full speed into a wall of people which was a good time)
I think like Code Orange, Knocked Loose will get pretty well noted for their uniqueness and capable of similar surprising feats. Hard core is in Coachella and the Grammys
Totally agree with what you said about metalcore. The formula is heavy verse, radio rock chorus, basic breakdown. The cleans are all going for either the butt rock vocal sound, or the high pitched poppy sound. There's just no deviation from that formula and the genre has fallen off hard. Then most of the bands that are trying to take metalcore and make it "proggy" are all trying to do the exact same form of "progressive." it's all just so stale
I disagree honestly. That's definitely a close-minded perspective about the progressive-metalcore genre right now. Currents, Northlane, Loathe, Volumes, After the Burial, Erra, Void of Vision, Invent animte and Alpha wolf deliver the same concept but totally different and innovative forms of their style of metalcore. If you're referring to bands like new Architects, Sleep Token or new Spiritbox I barely think they make core music at all. Just prog metal bands

@@LasTortugasAzules nah seriously they do have different sounds. its literally the same with any other sub genre you can't have all the bands sounding radically different or its not that genre anymore, so most bands offer variations on a similar them thats literally how sub genres kinda work. and this is for any sub genre you can think of, deathhore, thrash, pop punk, hardcore etc. they all have shit tonnes of copycat bands and then a few flagship ones that bring their own small spin on the formula of the genre

And loathe definitely delivers a more deftones and chaotic sound into the genre. Erra and Invent Animate are very ambient as well. And I agree about your take on alpha wolf, they sound more similar to traditional metalcore like knocked Loose and varials, but they typically interact way more with the bands that I've mentioned

If I pick a random deathcore song right now, I could end up with something symphonic, a beatdown band, blackened deathcore, a more groove based band, thall, or a half dozen other sounds. If I pick a metalcore song at random, the odds of hearing something totally formulaic are way higher I'll never give up on metalcore, because I've been listening to it since back when people just called it "metallic hardcore." I'm not writing it off forever, and yeah, of course there are still bands doing cool stuff. But I don't think it's even debatable that the metalcore genre is going through a mediocre phase right now

They've managed to develop their sound in a way that stays true to their original sound, while somehow getting more 'Knocked Loose-y' with every release, which is a line very few bands ever manage to ride for more than one or two albums
They are legit and my fav “newer” metal band. I love his high pitched screams and how clear his annunciations are. Dope ass band. A little organized chaos is fucking great. They’re on my bucket list. 🙃
Bryan always sounds like he is totally lost his mind. Beyond aggressive or angry. Just pure madness and insanity. And I love it. Just like Mathes brothers from Orphan (ex-Strangled) - so much raw emotion 🤌
I saw Knocked Loose open up for Gojira. I had never heard them before, but a ton of people 20 years younger than me were very excited to see them. After watching them live, I can safely say that the future of metal is safe.
My first time listening to a knocked loose single here. Immediately notice the mix is raw but energetic, Metalcore BOSS pedal being chunky and the kick drum pushing air directly into my face. And the beat variation in the breakdown keeps the groove moving without staleness.
im not a knocked loose fan, but when i hear them, they remind me of how TDWP is unique. they dont sound the same but they both just do whatever sound/style they want.
I love how oldhead Finn is about shit. Homeboy is having the time of his life watching knocked loose and still mentions minor threat and youth of today. Love that shit. But yeah. I have been physically injured at a knocked loose show and as a proud kentuckian i will go out of my way to be injured again.
Knocked Loose are one of the few bands ive been generally impressed with in recent years and saw them twice last year in Leeds and then at Outbreak Fest in Manchester. Hoping to get a ticket for them playing the dome in London in august, which is a 600 cap venue. And the thing mentioned in this video is they have adapted to many different festivals as in August alone there playing Bloodstock which is mainly metal, and then Leeds and Reading fest which are now more mainstream rock and indie.
I like that they just do all the good parts of hardcore like everything is groove+hook+yell +breakdown repeat. It’s simple and fun. I would never walk passed a skatepark alone without a handful of acorns you can throw under one of those whipper snappers boards if they look at you wrong.

Knocked Loose is to Metalcore as No Pressure is to pop punk. Both bands are doing awesome things with the genres and keeping the scene alive.

im not a knocked loose fan, but when i hear them, they remind me of how TDWP is unique. they dont sound the same but they both just do whatever sound/style they want.

I have been physically injured at a knocked loose show and as a proud kentuckian i will go out of my way to be injured again.

Knocked Loose are one of the few bands ive been generally impressed with in recent years and saw them twice last year in Leeds and then at Outbreak Fest in Manchester. Hoping to get a ticket for them playing the dome in London in august, which is a 600 cap venue. And the thing mentioned in this video is they have adapted to many different festivals as in August alone there playing Bloodstock which is mainly metal, and then Leeds and Reading fest which are now more mainstream rock and indie.
The comparison to dance music was accurate IMO, it’s catchy without a verse-chorus structure in the way that a lot of house music is

I like that they just do all the good parts of hardcore like everything is groove+hook+yell +breakdown repeat. It’s simple and fun. I would never walk passed a skatepark alone without a handful of acorns you can throw under one of those whipper snappers boards if they look at you wrong.
