  • This video is a full tutorial video showing in detail how to custom modify a PC case and install a custom LCD screen into your PC case.
The video explains how to measure and cut correctly when modifying your PC case, how to correctly use a Dremel to cut a specific size in your PC case.
The screen I use is manufactured by Waveshare and is a 5" LCD with an 800 x 480 resolution (Link below).
I show you how to use a Pop Rivet gun and how to cut out the correct shape in detailing your PC case.

Super late on this but when you're ready to mount the LCD to the tape don't remove all the protective plastic from the tape. Only peel 2-4mm of the plastic from 1 end of each strip and fold it aside so it hangs over the edge past the LCD. This will be enough to hold the LCD screen in place and make it much easier to get it aligned. Once you're happy with the position pull the backing plastic away and press the LCD in place.
It's harder to describe than it is to do and it makes a fussy procedure much less intimidating.

Oh that is a fantastic idea, my dude! Like a hospital corner when making your bed. Then just pull it out sideways when you have it aligned. I was gonna try this and that is a sweet idea.

Instead of cutting the case at 22:55 you could just have flipped the lcd screen upside down so the cables come out from the other side!
Then inside windows set the lcd screen to portrait (inverted).

On these cheap LCDs the viewing angles don't work that way. You'll get a way worse picture quality with a flipped LCD.

Instead of taking up a USB port you can get a sata power to USB and power it from your powersupply
And you didn't need to cut into the black bit you could have got a low profile cable
And I would have replaced the rivets with screws so you can take the panel off again

I started with hiding the taskbar and the clock on the system tray after the release of windows 11. I then got tired of not being able to see the time so I started to look for a clock to mount above my monitor. At the same time my aio started heating up, turns out it was dirty and ended up cleaning it. Now I want an external display to see the time (never bought a clock) and the temps of my system. So i put a 7 inch mini LCD screen in my pc because i saw it on youtube, looked really cool. but once i got it installed and plugged into the HDMI windows defaults my desktop to the little screen and i cant use my big monitor...cant figure out how to tell windows that my big monitor is my MAIN monitor and the little 7 inch one is #2 it just refuses to work no matter what i try...anyone know what to do here? the only thing ive been able to do is "duplicate screens" which is useless because i need the 7 inch for displaying cpu/gpu temps ect ect. im 6 hrs of effort into it and nothing seems to work

I know they make USB to HDMI converters for laptops, but do they make HDMI to USB converters? That would allow you to plug the HDMI into the USB header adapter without having to run the HDMI cable out the back of the case

David Maloney have you found an answer for this?

I found some articles on IoT forums that seems to indicate usb headers don't interface with the GPU, so while you may be able to make a physical adapter, the computer won't recognize the input.
