i wanted to do this but after watching your very informative video i choose to no longer do this
Why not? What are the parts you're most afraid of
I don't think you understand the amount of laughter I was to obtain from your comment
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us
This was excactly me. 😂
If you know, what you are doing, nothing will happen. Or use a old laptop screen with a LVDS/eDP controller.
My monitor must have been sweating bullets while showing me this video
I personally think this is the best DIY use case of a transparent display ive seen. Looks great, love everything about it
i got my nephew a H510 for xmas. i also happen to have a old lcd monitor laying around. wish me luck lol
Hey how did it go?
@@jordancst115 he's still working on it
did it work
Probably dead now... Wired the main power line from the house to his LCD controller board.
Are u Alive? How did it go?
I can't stop thinking about this guy invention of black light
Wow I thought RGB was for the cool kids, this is next level
RBG is for the cool kid, this is for them nerds who got left out because he used pc and not console
I really watned to do this but after seeing the amount of stuff I don't know how to do I unfortunately thought otherwise
don't give up bro. You only need a screw driver and a soldering iron....and water :) U only risk 5 dollar on a second hand monitor.
I actually thought it easier than I expected xd just take your time with it and you should be fine
I just learned about this mod and this was the first video i found about it. Awesome job and craftsmanship! I'm going to start sourcing parts to do this for my winter project.
Ok this is definitely going to be my next project, like this is the coolest thing I've seen in a very long time. Just gotta find an lcd that would fit my case.
That's so not what I expected but a thousand times cooler :D.
You are talented and more importantly, you are the coolest computer guy in the world. I'm on it.
Great tutorial, I was able to do this project a few years ago but using a raspberry pi inside with a video loop and accessed via vnc to keep PC free of extra work. Great job!
I've been thinking about doing this mod myself for a few years now, especially now I'm thinking about a new build. The pi-route is the way I'd go too, set and forget, maybe hook the pi up to on-board usb for power and script the display loop on startup.
Rpi 4 is out would be a good time to do it. Send a link to yalls do it yourself mods. Would like to do it but all the volt meter work intimidates me
The coolest I've seen in a while. Thanks for sharing.
Great guide! Love the close up on the antiglare peal!
Why did water work though? Is that normal for anti glare removal, regardless of brand? Would never have thought it'd be that easy...
@@NVRMTmotion The water wears down the adhesive holding the sheet to the LCD but it needs time to penetrate the sheet. That's why it takes such a long time.
This is actually really smart how it works.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but when the screen turns on its opening the filters that would normally allow the backlight to come through which would be coloured from the reflectors, but since there is no backlight panel, or reflector on the screen it just turns transparent.
Yes! That is correct. White on a LCD is not actually showing white, it's just letting through the white backlight.
@@Ananords Thanks for confirming.
I've been contemplating doing it to my case, but it has 2 glass panels so I'm thinking of getting custom ones made for it.
But for now ill enjoy being able to see into my case until I can afford upgrades lol.
@Ananords so the LEDs that were put on the sides and top are there so that the black objects moving on the display screen are viewable right? They can be powered from a separate power supply?
@@TheSocialPraxis yeah, the extra light strip's are just to light the inside to make it more obvious. So if you haven't already got rainbow vomit spammed throughout your pc you'll probably want to add a light in
@ethancotton1549 😅😅 🌈 rock! Don't have them tho.
Thanks for the response 🤙🏽.
Amazing, I wish I had that kind of skill and knowledge.
Wow !
wonderful idea, looks amazing! thanks for showing
thanks man, I made it. Saw same thing on reddit two years ago, been thinking about it since
drop dead gorgeous !'m going to have to try it
@Ananords really great work...
That’s super cool I’m gonna try this on my next pc
Coolest thing I have seen in a PC!
Oh man, this is an Awesome mod.
I'm thinking about trying it myself. Nothing to loose, the LCD you use is available for 20€ and i got the same case.
Only think you loose is time, and i was thinking about doing case modding for so long, so this is a good starting point :'D
Also thanks for your written instruction, you clearly got my sub for this! :)

i have the same monitor, AND the same case. gonna try this out for sure
nothing to lose either, the monitor was free
Great video. Would you explain a bit more about the wiring as shown on the diagram in details with another video please?
Amazing mod, need to learn this.
I have the exact monitor, but don’t have the time to sit here for house on end to try to do this myself. Might wait until summer
I did this same mod with a Dell studio XPS 9000, looks fucking awesome with a painted white interior and the outside blacked out
This was cool ...nice job.
I did this on the same case in march and I used the 1908fpt which fits 100% perfect on the side panel.
what case?

SUPERB AMAZING IDEA BRO !!!!!
would be super nice to see a showcase of how the items OTHER than the screen were hidden away
Awesome DIY vid! Any tutorial recommendation on how to find certain voltages in power pins?
Take a continuity test between one of the mounting holes (often grounded) and the pins to find GND. Then, measure voltage between that pin and the rest. You can also try googling the serial number of the power supply and driver board.
The schematics for the board are usually available on the internet but it's also very common for the traces to be labeled.
You Sir ... Are Awesome!
it's verry nice , good work !
looks nice!
Pretty sick man !
I have the same case, wondering how to hide the small board that runs the length of the screen? Do you have any pictures of how you mounted the controller board? Thanks!
I just did this mod with a simpler monitor I found for free.
It was cool at first, but you have to have a shitton of LED backlighting for it, and it bleeds out the side of the case pretty bad.
Maybe not great for the h510 case, but it’s still cool
Hallo bräuchte sowas bitte ganz tolle Arbeit
I did it. To make the screen more transparent, set the monitor settings brightness and contrast to maximum. And Bad Apple is best wallpaper for this project. Let me know, if you will find more cool black and white wallpaper c:
Wow this is sick looking
I have been keeping my eye out for this display for a few months now due to its aspect ratio and just picked up two for free, i could use any panel with an LVDS driver board but wanted this screen because of its shape but the ease of using the existing driver board is so trivial its not even worth using an aftermarket LVDS board and to make things even easier, my screens board has the voltages printed on the PCB next to each pin!
ого, это же потрясающе!
Just ordered the exact screen you used and am gonna make this! Its awesome
Good luck 😊
how did you determine which 5v connectors to connect to your psu? I dont understand how you foudn the continuity of the 5v and did you connect them yourself, o did you mean that theyre already connected by design and determined through the continuity tests? confused on this part.
i love this ur amazing u got my sub. I will build this
U HEARTED MY COMMENT!!!
Thanks for the sub! Really appreciate it:)
You know I'm curious why someone would give this a thumbs down. To me it's clearly a very clever build that was recorded and edited very well. A lot of hard work went into the build and the video production.
One thing I'd like to add is that this looks like a great opportunity to use a raspberry pi zero to drive the display without using the PC's GPU. The Pi zero can easily do 1080P video with VNC access.
Pi is what they are using for smart mirrors. So yea it definitely would work.
thumbs down.
Nice a cleaner version of what I made a year prior and mosquito made like 2 years before me
So cool, nice work. Was it easy enough to find a display the same size as your glass? I bet you could get an old one for free.
That tweet brought me here. Gotta buy an old monitor now!
I was wondering if this was still being talked about, and done by case modders. I did my own snowblind mod, but my variation uses all plug and play componants that are powered off of the USB of the motherboard, including the display, granted it is more expensive than the tearing down an old scrap monitor like most people do method but, it is still cheaper than buying the case from ibuypower, and it can be done to virtually any case, and swapped between cases pretty easily. I bet even a small form factor pc could be done. Good work. I may post a video of my version so that people who want a version that doesn't require soldering can try my version.
I really want to watch your version as I am trying to do this on my own but I don't know how to do soldering and don't have the equipment.
@@BlahBlah-oj2dy ok. I'm actually going to do a refresh of mine as I found better light strips for the back lighting, so i'll work on getting a video up.
@@ZXR_SBK When do you think you'll have it up?
@@poke__8413 I have the first part filmed already. I'll finish filming tomorrow after im off work, so should be posted late tomorrow or early Saturday.

This is insane
Hey, I’ve always wanted to try this. I think I understand everything up to the point of powering it. In this video you’re desoldering from the Power supply board, so we’re does the screen draw power from?
I need to figure out how to do this on a 65” Smart TV!
Wow this looks really easy and simple!!
10:28 :
I mean it's really not that complicated all things considered
I agree just go slow it's not a race once you get past your own self doubt you will be surprised what your capable of 🙂
woaw u got a new sub :3
what a ducking legend
Ill try it today mate I bought the same screen as u did. U put water on the screen to remove the top layer right ? Any Otter Tipps u didnt put inside this awesome Video?
Is there maybe a lcd screen to buy and easier to mount cause i have the same case and i wanna do this but its to much work to do
What white rgbw strip did you use exactly please and thank you I want to get ever part exactly the same as you and any extra advice I'd appreciate to the moon and back lol 😅
Does this work for any other displays? Im hoping to use a laptop display on a glass front panel since it would be alot smaller
Which one of the cables are the ground for yours? We have the same exact board so i'm just going with your same stuff
Why did you remove the "top layer" as that looks to me like you just removed the polarization filter and is required for an LCD to work. Or was that a different layer of film/plastic? Because when you remove the polarization filter all you see is straight through (with a backlight, white) so I'm not quite sure what is going on lol.
That's the AG coating, the water helps separate it from the polariser.
If you don't do this you will have the foggy look.
Is this sharing a hdmi part of the computer or does it have its own display input from something else? What is the power requirements to run something like a transparent lcd panel, Can it run on 12v?
Thanks a lot for your video !
I'm trying to do the same thing, but my LCD controller has two 5V pin, two 12v and 4 GND..
Should I use two molex inputs or can I use only one and connect the 5V to the two 5V pin and same thing for 12 V ? And what to do with these 4 GND pin ?
Thanks
I want to ask, are there 2 foils that need to be removed? the one from the front or from the back? one is darker.
What film do I want to remove, and is there a way to recognize if it's the layer I want to remove or the polarizing layer which I should not remove
How is it you can see the screen without the polarising film ?
so if i find the same monitor and copy what you did it should work?
Great video. But dang if this isn't perfection with video music selection on the intro.
Did you see the "new" display of Sun Vision "Featuring RLCD Technology" ?? Are you able to replace the backlight with a mirror or any other reflective material to convert/make own RLCD ? some kind of DIY.
did you need to ground the monitor before doing this?
If so, how? Where can I research to safely do this.
Thanks in advance
Would you say that 19 inches is the right size for this case? I just so happened to find almost the exact same monitor (mines the ultrasharp 1908fpt) laying around unused.
Edit, just realised that your monitor was 4:3, whereas mine is 5:4... Good? Bad?
Amazing, I would love this but i'm not good at all with anything like that this
Attempted to do this with an lg l1952s-sf, it wasn't as clear as your's, it was like looking through foggy glass and no amount of lighting helped. it had anti glare layers on BOTH sides, eventually scrapped it :(
You should try this with the hyte Y60!
Lol that’s awesome I am actually in the middle of the same project. With the same case as well. Where did you hide your board that is connected to the screen?
Awesome! I just have it at a 90 degree angle, so it's laying on the inside of the case. It just barely fits if you put the panel as far back as possible.
Does transparency depend on the LCD matrix? disassembled with a passive 3D monitor is still cloudy, I removed the film from the front normally. The question is for 3D some other layers or TN matrix
I'm trying to diy a transparent lcd on side panel
The old power comnector to the screen is lost and I was wondering if the screen can be powered threw the pc psu
you think you'd be able to change the size? I'm building in an itx case
Super Cooool!
There are widescreen USB powered LCD screens that seem to be suitable for PC case front panels. 16 inch wide 16:9 ones
Now iBuyPower sell your creation, amazing video by the way
by taking off the polarising layer surely you wouldent be able to see the image??? When i took it off mine you could only see the image with the layer on.
Which side of the film did you remove? I removed the front side and my display doesn’t look anywhere as bright as when you test yours
You need white background to make it brighter.
This works and looks best in white casing.
I am guessing you did this in a black or dark color casing.
Hey, What liquid did you used for the Removing Process of the Top Layer? Iwan to make my own cause its so Cool:)
Water
wow OMG!!!!!! i will find older monitors
i try it!
amazing
hello sir, really nice video, can i do the same with an old laptop screen ?
Is this possible for the H1? That would look so awesome.
Wow, just need to find a monitor of the exact size for the Fractal design POP air
