@@UltraMegaSeaMonkey Some articles about the elephant man refer to his pendulous skin. "The bulk of the disease was on the right side; there was enormous hypertrophy of the skin of the whole right arm, measuring twelve inches round the wrist and five inches round one of the fingers, a lax mass of PENDULOUS SKIN, etc"
This is a great album, definitely one of the classics but it does have their earlier style. I think you would probably really like some of their mid and later material: crack the skye, one more round the sun, even their newer album which is great (hushed and grim).
One of the best metal records ever. All mastodon albums rule but their stretch of remission/leviathan/blood mountain/crack the skye in easily one of the best 4 album stretches in metal history. Mastodon never misses. Also shout out Brann Dailor one of the sickest drummers alive, Brann also does a bunch of lead vocals on their last 4 albums and occasionally writes some riffs for them including the blood and thunder riff,he’s an insanely talented musician. Mastodon has 3 vocalists too which is part of what makes them super unique. Troy sanders the bassist and Brent hinds the lead guitarist are the 2 singers on this record, Brann had yet to do vocals yet for them. Anyway I’m rambling but mastodon rules so much.
Mastodon's first three albums end with a tribute to the elephant man
ummm I didn't know Pendulous Skin was about the Elephant man.

One of my all-time favorite metal albums!
So far I've only grown to love it more with each and every listen so I'm sure it won't be long until I'll be saying the same thing
Check out more Mastodon! Blood Mountain and Crack the Skye is masterpieces equal to this one
