Before I bought my MK3s someone asked if I wanted to have a 3d printer as a project or use a 3d printer to enable other projects. I chose the Prusa.
Yeah that is a good way to put it. 😁👍
So got a mk3s during the start of 2020. It has been a solid printer. The community around it is amazing. I have done some mods over time. Dry bearings, pitstop extruder, Ikea lack enclosure, octoprint. It has also been great, I do wish I had a bigger print volume. I pre-ordered the prusa XL but it has been delayed. I have started looking towards the Voron 2.4 series.... They look like some next level stuff, the print speeds they have are wild. Also just today I got a Elegoo Saturn 2, and am in the middle of installing a flex plate on it.
That's interesting to hear, the list of upgrades that is. I have a Saturn 2 but still need to get a flex plate for it, it does print fine without it but I like flex plates.
So I bought a Voron 2.4 last year and I have printed all the parts already.I just haven't had the time to put it together. Oh and it's the 350mm one too 😁👍
Yeah. years ago I bought a tevo tarantula for 200. By the time I finished buying rails and ed3 hot ends, etc. I could have just bought a 600 dollar prusa ( or whatever they cost back then) BUT I will say I learned a lot ( though I was terrible at bed leveling).
I know what you mean about the learning part and that has came in very handy for sure. I'm liking a lot of the newer printers just coming out of the box with all the upgrades I would have done. I'm doing a video for my 2nd channel right now about the new ender 5 S1. It comes out of the box with auto bed leveling, all metal hot end, direct drive, filament runout sensor and is a core XY
I have a MK3S that I hadn't touched for over a year and when I started it up the other day I was able to print the torture test with no issues, every other printer I've had required me spend hours on end re-calibrating it after not using it for a period of time. I don't know if the mini has it by default but I highly recommend replacing the bed's springs with nylon lock nuts and using the octopi mesh leveling plugin to get the bed level once and for all so you never have to deal with the springs weakening over time.
The mini is solid mounted so it has no bed springs
Thanks for convincing me to go with an ender-5 plus. 🙂
Haha no problem. Did you see my video on the ender 5 S1? ua-cam.com/video/axjwXuMiiaU/v-deo.html
I'm a jewelry artist and was thinking about getting something like this. One issue I have is the textured lines that stand out. Is there a way to smooth out the model so you have a smooth surface?
What are you wanting to do with the prints you make? Are you wanting to use them as is or are you wanting to do lost wax casting?
@@GomeowCreations Wax casting.
@@shaunhall960 Sadly this isn't the style of printer you want to get to do that. Check out this video I made showing how I do it with resin 3d Printers
ua-cam.com/video/t2H_lV8IOyY/v-deo.html
Prusa does sell a resin printer that you can find here bit.ly/PrusaSL1S but I also have links to other resin printers in the video I linked to as well
Here are some castable resins:

@@GomeowCreations Thanks, I'll check it out.
If u make jewelry buy a resin printer.
Wow. Used to be $350. I own 2. Had to refit and tear apart the hotend after the first print to reseat the ptfe tube. After that it's just been cold pulls foray clogs. I paid $650 CAD for mine. Dont think I'd pay $450 USD now though.
👍👍👍♥️
😁
😁
Randy are you going back to making jewelry? That is why I subscribed. With all these 3d printers and review that is not a craft.
Yes I'm, I made a new channel for all the tech and 3d printing stuff. There are just some left over stuff I had to make videos about an this channel due to my deals with the companies
5:04 Stop, no, and don't!
Why?
@@GomeowCreations Risk of deforming; would rather rub off or pull on those few strings.
It's not going to do much if anything if you aren't using super thin walls. I have never had a problem doing this to be honest.
@@GomeowCreations Plus, there's the chance of molten strings ending up on the print.
Yes there is a chance for a lot of things but they can be easily fixed for the most part and will not always happen. But you are free to do it however you like. 😁👍
