    There is a newer 5 qt option available now. It's the 10 in 1 model FD101 - I'm a small family of 2 and we just purchased the 5qt and it's awesome. It does comes with a broiler rack it also has the dehydrate, broil and has other key features. Just wanted to share this info in case anyone else had a smaller family and wanted more features.

    Thank you Louise!! I has to call Ninja today because yesterday I burned food I was reheating on air crisp function and I mean I burned it to a crisp in under a minute, noticing the Fan was not on. I tried troubleshooting but the fan didn't engage on any cycle forcing me to call. Since it only has a 1 year warranty, and since I bought mine in March 2020, They said it has to be replaced. I have the OP40208 8 quart and have used it a minimum of 4 times a week so needless to say, I got my money's worth! They offered a new version of mine which is an FD402 regularly with 30% off and will get it within a week. I loved the features in the new one with the thermometer, but, I have wireless probes I use in mine and The FD402 I'm getting has a reheat and sous vide,, two features my other didn't have so I'm happy. You should have a Food Nerwork TV show or at least be the official spokesperson for Ninja! Your recipes, explanations and product reviews are far better than any Ninja spokesperson or Ninja cookbook!!

    I had just purchased the newer 6.5 quart Ninja and a little later watched this video. When I checked my purchase I found it indeed had the "inferior" basket and rack so - on your advice, I canceled the new (stainless) version and ordered the (all-black) 6.5 quart Ninja which had the "superior" basket & rack. Actually saved money on the deal as well. Thanks for this video - it saved me from some inconvenience down the road : )

And now I've watched your channel and you are wonderful and I thank you for all your information you are great and I'm not just saying that I'm really happy that I found your Channel. And now they come out with the Speedi... how confusing is this?? LOL I purchased two models of the Ninja on Black Friday and Cyber Monday LOL and now I see that there's a Speedi... one of the main reasons I would like one of the Ninjas is because of the sous vide function. For some reason I'm obsessed with sous vide for the last year and a half don't know why. Anyway this is a lengthy comment and I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your videos. Kudos!

    I have the original 6.5 qt model. The only time I like using the pressure lid when not pressure cooking is the Steam function. The presets for the time and temp on the steam function work perfect. The time can be changed, but that’s just messing with something that doesn’t need to be fixed. Otherwise, I have glass lids from other pans in my kitchen, and I like to put a 10” or 12” lid over it when simmering. I don’t like that the pressure lid needs to locked into place for non pressure functions. I’m just not comfortable with it. I won’t use it. I believe Instant Pot comes with a clear lid. It’s okay. I don’t need another lid in my kitchen. But I will put a clear lid over it every time. I also bought a 9” silicone disk to line the bottom of the pot when air frying anything messy. It works great, and I would suggest Ninja consider including one in future models.

    I appreciate you taking the time to make this video (in fact all your videos). I had the Foodi with the basket and gave that to my daughter. And now I have the sous vide one. I love it! I prefer the one with the black rack instead of basket. And I don't miss the reverseable metal rack either. I'm glad the lid is not as heavy and didn't even notice the heat of the lid!!! I also have the Foodi grill with the temp probe, that's where I do cakes etc. I love the shape of that for mac and cheese... Basically, I wanted to sous vide and to pressure cook. So again Louise, me having been in the food service industry for many years, I know how much it takes for you to create these recipes and then after all of that, you or someone has clean up the kitchen! We bought the 5qt about three months ago for just my wife and I. We've used every function (except yogurt) a few times and my only issue is the slow cooker takes so long to heat up, the first time we used that function we thought it was defective (once it does heat up though it's great). We haven't yet encountered a time where we wanted to layer our cooking, so not having a rack isn't a big deal. We're only cooking for two, so we usually don't have a lot to throw in the pot or basket. All that being said, I do wish we'd bought the 6.5qt, just so we'd have the option if we wanted it. But we do really love ours and would highly recommend everyone have one.

The 8 qt. combo is 25 lbs. and way too large for me to handle. There is another 5qt model - the OS101 (I purchased it in Dec 2020). It doesn't have an air crisper "basket", instead it has that plate that comes with that newer 6.5qt and it does come with a regular metal rack.

    • @TheSaltedPepper
      @TheSaltedPepper  3 роки тому

      I just found that out. I think it's only offered at Target, somehow I missed that one when doing research. They have so many different models, it's crazy!

    Nicely done. I would seriously consider the upgraded 6.5 qt, but the fact that it gives off so much heat is a deal breaker for me. One of the great things about the Foodi IMO me is being able to use it in summer without warming up the whole room.
    I do love my Foodi, despite wanting an insta pot/casori the year I got it. I literally broke my toe on it when it was under the tree and was geared up to hate that little booger. Love it tho, and it's the one extra appliance in my kitchen I would not be without.

    • @TheSaltedPepper
      @TheSaltedPepper  4 роки тому +2

      It does get warm to the touch, but I haven't noticed that it gives off any more heat than the other ones do as far as heating up the room goes. I wouldn't let that factor into your decision to upgrade.

I also have found that most of the accessories from my insta pot works great with my ninji foodi I am so happy cause I really didn't want to rebuy all my stuff. mine is all digital with the dehydrator but doesn't have the yogurt function which works for me cause I do not make yogurt Thanks for making your videos I Love Love Love your channel

    Ninja Foodi Pro. The plate is fantastic. I air crisp about 4 pounds of bacon a week. I don't have a dish washer. Cleaning the plate in the sink is SUPER easy and fast. But I agree, you NEED both the OP302 and the new FD302. By the way, the pots and accessories can be shared.

    • @TheSaltedPepper
      @TheSaltedPepper  4 роки тому

      Oh, that is interesting! Do you just pile the bacon up on the plate? It seems like it would be so much of a pain to work with.

      @@TheSaltedPepper I just cut 1.5 pounds of thick cut bacon in half, separate the bacon and kinda lay it randomly on the plate, overlapping is OK, air crisp at 130° for 16 minutes. Crack the lid a few times to rearrange the pile of bacon. Start Nibbling when done. Can use the plate in either my OP302 or FD302. So convenient to have both.

    I received the OS101 9-in-1 5-qt for Christmas, which seems to be more of a fusion of the 6.5 or 5-qt models you reviewed. Used it twice that day! Had to replace it via Ninja Support because the Sear/Sauté failed. (Side note-the support was superb and they shipped the replacement when they got notice from FedEx that my unit was received for shipment, so was only out of use for five days from Monday shipment to Saturday replacement.) The OS101 is a good fit for my wife and me because we cook mostly just cook for the two. So in three weeks of use, I’ve tried several recipes using air-crisp or pressure or both. Having no previous experience, so I’ve found it just quite a paradigm shift. Love the convenience.

    I love my foodi except for one thing.... I live in an RV with limited counter space so when I want to cook out of the way, I prefer to put in on my stove on a cutting board. Because it’s an RV the microwave is close to my stove. I was a removable air fryer top. It’s is a huge juggling act always having to work around it.

    • @TheSaltedPepper

    Hello, Louise. My wife and I love your show! We just bought an 8-Qt Ninja Foodi. During her first trial run a few moments ago, we noticed the pressure cooking lid is loose when placed on the Ninja and locked. Is that normal? In addition, the valve indicator to seal or vent floats. It is not like on your Ninja. When my wife switched the valve to vent after pressure cooking, it would vent and stop venting quickly. She had to turn the valve to vent several times for it to finally stay venting. Did you have the same experience when you pressure-cooked for the first time? If not, do you believe my wife's Ninja Foodi may be defective? Please let us know. We love and enjoy your shows very much along with your presentation style. It's not boring like other cooking shows. Thank you and best wishes.

    • @TheSaltedPepper
      @TheSaltedPepper  3 роки тому +2

      Tell her to turn the valve to vent until it clicks. It sits up on a little ledge when fully vented. The lid on the newer models does seem looser than the older models, but I haven't had any trouble going under pressure.

  • @derby1263
    @derby1263 3 роки тому +1

    Logically speaking I think the plate is a very good idea in the new food . When cooking whole chicken in the big basket. Where the chicken touches the sides its pail in colour. But I see it could be at a disadvantage when cooking a facility size portion of chips/fried

    • @TheSaltedPepper

      Personally, I think the 6.5qt is fine for a family of 4. The only advantage of the 8qt is a little more height for larger meats and of course you can make bigger batches of soups and one pot meals.
