I think they could make a good PG-13 Spawn movie if they wanted to. The problem with most of the action and horror movies that get a PG-13 these days is that they didn't start out as PG-13. instead they take scripts that were clearly meant to be r rated movies and dim them down until they can get past the MPAA with PG-13. On the other hand, both infinity war and endgame had some pretty graphic violence(Loki gets choked to death while turning blue and veiny, those devil dog things get their skin burned off going through the barrier, Thanos gets his arm chopped off, etc) but managed to get by with a PG-13 and still be really good. If they started out aiming for PG-13 from the word go with Spawn, they could totally do it justice.

Don't know if you notices, but in most episodes they usually have the person most familiar with the subject guide and almost host the review. So most likely it was planned that way from the start. I think it helps give the reviews a bit more substances and makes them more watchable, because I rather watch someone who is super passionate about something talk about it than someone who vaguely remembers it or doesn't really have any experiences or isn't really knowledgeable about it. You also gotta remember, the most important part of these reviews (at least IMO), isn't just to talk about what they thought about the movie but also what they remember about when it came out or any nostalgic experiences they have with it. The guy that played the clown in the nerd episode was absolutely fantastic and after hearing some of his opinions and conversation he seems like a really interesting person. Really appreciate the extra mile they went through to make a great episode.
This movie is similar to Jumanji, in the sense that they just need to re-release a "Special Edition" with updated CGI. Also, the soundtrack for Spawn was actually a very cool concept - creating mashups with rock bands and hip-hop/electronic acts. You guys should definitely give it a listen!
Spawn is one of the most underrated comicbook character EVER! I mean, seriously the character has a badass design, cool story, and a great atsmosphere. The character is right there to pick him up and make a great videogame or movie. But sadly over the years he didn't have the love that deserves. kieran 7th most popular of cinemassacre lol.
You're top 3 for me buddy.
Todd McFarlane did the animation for the HBO series, and also did animation for Pearl Jam's Do the Evolution, Korn's Freak on a Leash, and Disturbed's rendition of Land of Confusion.
Gotta say, justin told a while to grow on me (from back in the nerd roast days) but really like him now. Very dry but very witty too 👍
And him in the clown guise was spot on!
John Leguizamo was legendary as the clown. It was perfect in Spawn. I believe he stole all of the thunder in the movie.
Audio hurts my ears, echoes from the guy on the left register in the right speaker.
Omg I love it! A tie in to the Nerd vid! Cinematic universe! Seriously, great way to showcase that Clown costume/performance.
Kieran, you're my second favorite of Cinemassicre crew! Only next to James himself! Love you buddy, dont be down on yourself! Hahaha
An interview about the new Spawn movie said that the transformation when he dons his outfit is so weird that it's something we'll never forget
Spawn and blade were one of my favorite movies I've watched when I was a kid both of those movies
Even though the CGI hasn't aged that well they still hold up as the definitive rare gems as the years progressed
As the biggest Spawn fan, I will say, Blade was a better movie.
Here's to the seventh most popular member of the Cinemassacre crew. Appreciate you, Kieran.
Dude Family Values Tour 98 on VHS!!!! That right there is absolutely amazing. Do you guys do mail-order rentals? It's been at least 15 years since I've seen that.
I love how the beginning was a continuation from the angry video game nerd episode of the spawn games.
Love your vids! You should review Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny soon too
Yes! Such an underrated flick!
The guy that played the clown in the nerd episode was absolutely fantastic and after hearing some of his opinions and conversation he seems like a really interesting person. Really appreciate the extra mile they went through to make a great episode.
When I was little I wanted to rent Spawn the movie but my mom accidentally rented the hbo series. Fun times.
How fortunate
Well it was a good accident the HBO series was good
Dude, I went to Suncoast video and did the same when I was a kid. Thought it was the movie.
Do I see a "Max Headroom" cover on the shelf...? :)
i loved that movie as a kid... but then again, i also liked darkman when i was a kid.
Darkman is a guilty pleasure I love how Sam Raimi it is.
Nothing wrong with liking Darkman
I'd love to see y'all do an episode on Kung Pow! Enter the Fist and see your opinion on how they made it basically splicing into an old movie.
I knew you guys were gonna do Spawn after the latest AVGN episode
Same here.
Nothing gets past you... It's almost like they said they would at the end of the video
The last few rentar reviews are some of the best. Keep up the good work!!!
The audio mix hurts my ears using headphones :(
Don't use headphones?
it's constantly, rapidly oscillating left to right. skipping this one because it's literally nauseating to hear.
Thank you. No one is mentioning this...
@@erichquinones598 don't be that guy that plays videos out loud?
My introduction to spawn was this movie. I never fully got into it until years later
I appreciate the enthusiasm but dude on left has to calm the fk down
This movie is similar to Jumanji, in the sense that they just need to re-release a "Special Edition" with updated CGI. Also, the soundtrack for Spawn was actually a very cool concept - creating mashups with rock bands and hip-hop/electronic acts. You guys should definitely give it a listen!
The movie was OK even though the special effects are dumb.but the best of the movie is the OST
I Still have it.
It's one of the few CD's I have never once regretted buying.
Also it had a sweet spawn mini poster.
The creature roar at 00:14 what's that off, it's driving me nuts now?
A dragon out of Game of Thrones is the best I can do.
They used it in a lot of cartoons back in the day
Hey Kieran you're my second favorite cinnemasacre member.
2:36 Family Values Tour!! I had that CD when I was a teen, and remember it came to Jacksonville Florida
"The seventh most popular member of the Cinemassacre crew" OH NOT IF I HAVE ANY SAY MISTER.
Spawn is one of the most underrated comicbook character EVER! I mean, seriously the character has a badass design, cool story, and a great atsmosphere. The character is right there to pick him up and make a great videogame or movie. But sadly over the years he didn't have the love that deserves. I hope his inclution in Mortal Kombat 11 be the beginning of his popularity again.
