I was laid off, well actually fired; however, I was given the choice to resign. Bad thing was I only had like $1k in my account and I had to ask for my dad to help pay off some bills. Fast forward 6 years and I have a fully funded 3-6 months, a month and a half worth of expenses in my checking, and dividends of $100+ a month. Always make sure you have some savings to fall back on because you never know what life may throw at you. Even with building up all these reserves, it still gives me anxiety to know that I am disposable.
That sucks man. That's the way they usually do it. When I worked at Candid, they just opened our new headquarters building and then less than 3 months later they laid off 70% of the staff by email. Remotely locked us out of our laptops and the building. Look into the WARN Act and see if they violated it by not providing notice.
Got laid off no warning 3 weeks ago I thought everything was fine
So sorry to hear that
