That number is only from Steam, I'm not defending the game in any way but you seem to have wilfully neglected the fact that the game is also on PC Game Pass, as well as Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation 5.
While we don't know how well the game sold on consoles, I would imagine it did better on PS5 than Steam just based on the sort of games that do well on that platform.

Part of the problem is that many companies get money not from selling games, but from selling stocks or get investment from companies who care about DEI. So it would continue until those people would give them money.

Which, while possible, is very hard and time consuming/resource wasting to do so. As long as we have the old games to fall back to (my backlog is in the thousands of games btw), we have all the entertainment we need until we die tbh.
If they stop to make games now, I've got enough games to keep playing for the next 100 years without even repeating one of them, let alone replaying them every several years like I do. I will not live long enough to play all the games I got right now. (and since they are all backed up in my HDDs, even if they remove them from the market or ban me from the internet altogether, they can't erase my drives and backup drives).

The source for this info went straight to Grummz, so it's unknown how real or not that is. But the info he was given was that the main character was not black and SBI "made" them change that.
Considering SBI's modus operandi, as stated by Kim Belair herself, is to bully devs (sometimes by targeting HR) until they get the changes they want, and race swapping is something they're known for, it is, at least, believable.
and dont forget the forced karen lesbo hairstyle. The second I see ANY female character in a game with that half shaved head bs.. its an IMMEDIATE ignore... its like a batsignal for shitty games now that SBI has their hands in.

The core problem isn't SBI influence. The core problem is the team of developers dont like gaming, don't like gamers, and just think it is an audience to milk money from. There is 0 passion in these type of games and you can see the difference so easily.
And if you're an average developer, you probably have no choice in the matter and have to code whatever slop gets assigned to you during a 12 hour shift for years and years. This is why a lot of people say that if you love games, you probably shouldn't get a job developing or playtesting them, there are exceptions i think but i can see it being a soulcrushing industry lately (i'm only talking about the average AAA studio wageslave of course).

I think saying SBI is a good reference for that though. People associate them with essentially coming into games & making them more crap. Also since SBI are still prominent & getting hired on games I think focusing on them is fine until they are essentially wiped out & then it's important the message is conveyed that them getting erased isn't a massive win because 5 more will pop up unless game developers realise that their presence is an actual hindrance to the games existence.

One of the big problems with sweet baby inc is that they can legally bully smaller companies with DEI policies. Sometimes what they’ll do is they will go to a company that isn’t “diverse” enough with its hiring choices, and they will give them 2 options. Option 1 is hiring them to get assistance with meeting legal DEI quotas, which allows them to exclusively hire people who believe in their agenda instead of talented developers. Option 2 is not hiring them, which causes sweet baby to then sue them for discrimination. If we want real change, we need to go after the laws that give them this power. The problem is, the laws that give them this power come from the Civil Rights Act, and when normal people who haven’t read the civil rights act and don’t know it follows the same logic as affirmative action hear anyone criticize it, they immediately call them a racist and refuse to hear them out.
can't they supersede this by hiring people that fit diversity that DON'T work with SBU? i mean, come on! somebody in the higher ups has to know one non white male that can fill in the gap for them! even if for the moment!

The great thing about Dark Souls was that you had character customization. You could make the character however you wanted. You could make your character hideous, beautiful, super skinny, fat, alter your skin color, male, female, buff, stout, the sky was the limit. Why? Because of choice. The story didn't care about who you were.
Maybe if they were aiming for a Souls-like game, they should have had the same idea and had complete character customization. Of course, they wouldn't, though. I wouldn't be surprised that some of those numbers are reviewers and once they're done, that number is going to be much lower.
I LOVE when games do that, when they let you be whoever or whatever you wanna be even if you're not that in real life, why doesn't sbi allow character customization ?

It baffles me that people still don't get that this "modern audience" isn't an existing audience, it is what they are trying to create. They will keep doing this until you're too exhausted to keep fighting it and just go "weeeell it is the only games there are, fine".

It won't work, UNLESS they find a way to remove all the old games from all platforms from the market, making their games the only choice we have... Which, while possible, is very hard and time consuming/resource wasting to do so. As long as we have the old games to fall back to (my backlog is in the thousands of games btw), we have all the entertainment we need until we die tbh.
If they stop to make games now, I've got enough games to keep playing for the next 100 years without even repeating one of them, let alone replaying them every several years like I do. I will not live long enough to play all the games I got right now. (and since they are all backed up in my HDDs, even if they remove them from the market or ban me from the internet altogether, they can't erase my drives and backup drives).

Diversity hires are mostly in place as a shield for the companies doing the hiring. If your work force is diverse it is a lot less likely to get sued over not hiring someone for perceived discriminatory reasons. Another reason they may pass over more qualified applicants is that they could potentially have to pay them more.
Simple example, Company "A" wants to hire a new paper pusher for their paper pushing department and has two applicants. Applicant 1 is a young black woman fresh out of college with zero paper pushing experience. Applicant 2 is a 30+ white man with six years of paper pushing experience. Applicant 2 seems like the better option as they would need less training. However the paper pushing department is entirely white men and most of them are nearing retirement age. At that point the favor shifts back to applicant 1 for several obvious reasons. They can pay her less since she doesn't have experience. That lack of experience means she won't have to be 'un-trained' of habits learned elsewhere as well. So now if applicant 1 gets the job it may seem from an outside view that she was a diversity hire but that may not really be the case. The most qualified applicant is not always the best choice for a company. I would be willing to bet that a sizable portion of what are perceived as 'diversity hires' weren't actually hired due to race or sex but because they could get away with paying them less.

They are learning. The problem is, a game that comes out now has been in development for 2-3 years, so even if they see the problem now, they can't fix it for this year's release. There are many companies (not just in IT and gaming, in other industries as well), that are starting to down-size or outright fire their DEI teams. Plus the main research every DEI nutjob cited as their "proof" turned out to be as valid as the "MMR causes autism" paper. It will be some time before we see the results though and in the mean time, the companies will try to paint their current DEI projects as something else to fool us into buying them, so be careful.
