A honest man you are Darren, you’re a man that can admit when they’re wrong and improve. The thing about UA-cam is everyone sees your mistakes, but there are good people that watches and point these things out to you not to put you down but to help out. The next new build you do (if you ever do one) you surely won’t make the same mistake twice🙏🏽🙏🏽 love the channel 👏🏽👏🏽
So nice to read in the comments there are people who are giving tips and tricks to Darren. I follow Darren and his buildings about two years now and he always admitted mistakes.Thats what I like,an honest hardworking person with integrity. And he helps everyone who needs it and as a good captain of a ship,he is leaving the building site as the last person.
Well done Darren. It’s actually a sign of high intelligence when you admit that you don’t know everything and are willing to learn. With the ever changing regulations a professional like yourself has to keep on top of it and that means learning new things and sometimes stopping doing things you’ve done for years. That can be hard sometimes. The brickwork’s looking good too!
Good that you take on board what you were not aware of, good that someone passed the info on to you and you did it, thats a win win. As you say, you cant know everything. Well done Darren. Stay well.
Good stuff. Owning mistakes is a great advertising for your work. I'd use a builder like you, knowing that when you cock up you also fix it straight away.
Hi Darren, dont know if you are aware, you could have bought those trays with the flashing already attached, which would make it easier as you dont have much brickwork above, (weight wise) when you put your flashings in at a later date, be mindful you dont weaken the brickwork ( as in cracking the joints, as you have little weight above to keep it all together) just a heads up mate, the last thing you want is going back over work that you have already done, i couldn't see if you raked out the bed joint 👍
Darren I wonder if your case could fall under this rule : "Cavity trays should be provided at all interruptions to the cavity (eg window and door openings and air bricks) unless otherwise protected (eg by overhanging eaves)." There is not much height until the wall will be protected by the eaves here. It just seems like the typical overkill that building regs seem to require.
Humans make mistakes buddy no shame in that ! It’s how we learn no one is born perfect !! Without mistakes we can’t improve Nice video buddy many people should and will learn a lot from being humble 👍👍😂
Mate your doing a grand job, I'm a youtuber as well and video my day 2 day life and I make hundreds of daily mistakes and although I usually don't make the same mistake twice, I sometimes make new mistakes, but it's Part of being human and we never get it right, we get it as near to perfect as we can, and as long as everyone is in good health and doing what they enjoy and make a living, then who in this world is Mr perfect??? But loving the progress of the new build, also would love to know how is the cowboy build coming along or have u finished that job?
Hi Darren I know it's building regulations but those stepped cavity trays I think would make the wall weaker .would the wall be able to withstand stong winds
Darren, this was not your fault. This is another example of a wasted day of your labor because the developer and architect omitted important information.
Build, repair and restore came over the Glen like the Bengal Lancers, a nice gang of lads but with no time served men...just a bunch of likeable chancers 😂 Great content though 👍

Darren, it could have been worst. It could have been raining, honesty is the best policy 👊🏾

Good honest man! What an asset you are to the building trade.

I’ll be doing rafter work next week, so I been watching your process as a younger contractor. Always open to new. Great job

Yeah I did take them
Out in anticipation of the flashing. Thanks for the tip ill look out for those trays for my own future jobs 👍🏾

Its over kill there is no need for them in Jersey we make a verge at the end
Yes as any water flows down the trays you only need a weep vent at the bottom .
Nice job Darren.....we are all on a learning curve.
I agree with the trays for the water issue but I would think the trays would make the wall weaker.
That was a lot of work Darren, must be frustrating for you. But looking good now it's done.
Well done mate👍👏
Every day is a learning day mate.
Really enjoying this series.
Any way lets forget work.
How is your baby doing.
darren remember noone is perfect and we always learn from our mistakes i would have you for a builder any day of the week make sure you rest xx
I would consider bringing the roof a bit up, so it’s in line with the neighbors. Saves a lot of trouble and potential leaks.
Were not allowed. The planning approval
Is based on our roof being lower like this.
Stepped trays should have been but in another scenario when abbutin an extension to existing it never happens.

Hard work! Do undo redo. Thanks for the update!
Excellent 👍

Fair play mate. True gentleman
Nice work impressive
Well done mate, nothing worse than re-doing a job…. Happens to us all, hang in there my man 😃👊🏿
We move forward, mate. Nobody is perfect
Hi, Darren. Doesn't adding all that plastic sh*t make the brick bonds weaker?
Yes but they seem to want trays everywhere these days. Never seen any problems on older houses without trays but hay ho
@@markrichardson5295 That's what I thought, Mark. Thanks for the reply 😀

Hello Darren
I don't understand how water can get in the cavity when you felt and tile over the cavity !
It’s why your not a bricky I guess
Driving penetrating rain on the face of the brickwork.
I didn’t know this, i have learn something also as well
10/10 for effort
Best builders
👍🏾

Not really as any bricky will know you needed to put them in pal ! But 100% agree it should be on the drawing

I blame the architect and the dodgy drawings.
@@copiousfootnotesYep, flashing details should be on the architect's drawings
