Having a gay son or daughter doesn't mean you failed as a parent. It's disowning them or making change because the parents' are more concerned for their own self-image, that's when they fail.

"I'm not changing, there's no changing me. God knows I tried." I see the comments from people who don't have a religion that talk about people who are gay and religious, and here's the thing: you've never lived with a God that you consider your friend and protector. You don't know how hard it is to leave everything you love, your homophobic parents and family, your life falls to pieces around you. You can call religion the problem all you want, but you've never lived under that continual fear that you'll fall into a life of sin. I still have PTSD from the late nights of crying and reading scriptures that tell me I'm a sinner, but I also have good memories and testimonies of my church. It's hard to walk away from, impossibly so.

Hi, Natalie. Attacking one's beliefs, whether once held or they are in the miasma of reconciliation, often springs from a sense of betrayal. You seem to have a wherewithal and conscience rooted in the best intentions of Christ. His grace and compassion exist within you. Because of these qualities, you have the capacity for love as friendship and companionship. The negative ideas and projections of God were thrust upon you by company who fundamentally misunderstood Christ's gospel. Cherish the memories wherein the Gospel illuminated your soul. As for those dark, lonely, sorrowful nights... Imagine them as stones in a luggage. A luggage you have been carrying all these years. Who is saying you have to continue carrying that luggage? Not Christ. Not me. And, now, not you. Find a natural ditch along the next grass path you cross and drop that bag of stones. Say good-bye, and, when walking away sing your favorite hymn :)

“You never asked if I was okay.” This is what SO many survivors say. What happened here isn’t okay and what we are doing to women in Texas isn’t okay. These are often the hardest things to speak about because they are so traumatizing - which is why you need to ask.

Lucas Hedges' best performance yet, in his most challenging role thus far, where he gives a moving and authentic portrayal of a young man trying to form his identity against his environment. Russell Crowe, as well, is in particularly fine form, here, delivering nuanced work that never turns his part into a one note caricature. Shame on the academy for overlooking these two very strong turns.

It is disgusting that people place their beliefs of the supernatural above people that are right in front of them in real life, in the natural universe we live in. You only live once. It’s really a personal relationship with the Creator; Jesus Christ Himself that maybe you’re having the real problem with. Re: SIN? Every human being has sinned > there’s no way around that fact rt now. The Bible has a lot more interesting things to say than the negative stuff you’ve come across. I can sorta say I get it. But there’s a very powerful reason behind all this. So don’t attack the Bible unless you’ve read the whole thing & 💯% have a crystal clear picture of it all, I’ve been told that it’s similar to a huge puzzle that you have to find the pieces & precisely where they all belong & then eventually you’ll see the much bigger fuller puzzle.

What I like about this movie is none of the family are “bad” people. Yes terrible things were done and it’s important to know that it’s not always just bad parents/kids when bad circumstances happened. I’m glad the parents despite taking their time learnt and listened and accepted their unintentional harm and he accepted they thought they were doing the best for him but still put up boundaries to protect. For such a sad story the ending was good. This is what I consider that most people are doing the best they can with what they have. What people have/know might not be right but most people aren’t heartless just uneducated or unaware. Yes some bad people out there but I give people initially the benefit of the doubt they were doing that they thought was the best with what they had. It’s how they react after they are given the correct information that is more important in the long run for me.

As a Christian I would naturally think that other sexualities aren't right.
But I respect that and wouldn't hate those sexualities through actions nor words.
I'd do nothing to show my respect.
I'd just focus on following what god has for me instead of focusing on others.

But by posting this comment you are already disrespecting other sexualities.

"My beliefs." What astonishing vanity. What remarkable self-pity.
