As an owner of 3 MINIs, I'm so happy to finally see you make a video!! Thanks from the USA!!!
So you buy a limited edition mini GP with 306 bhp on the front wheels. And then when the first set of front tyres is worn you decide to buy Nexen tyres 😔
Yea its a cheap ass
Exactly, who even let you put those tyres on?! Full wrap but weak tyres, get the priorities straight :D
@@jonnyronnyroker crazy to think why you would put such a tyres on that type of car ,especially on the front .
yh first thing i would get is good tyres and an lsd
Ridiculous. I run pilots on my 250 hp R55 and I still wish they had more grip. Damn hipster mini owners give us all a bad name. 😖
The JCW GP3 is a very underappreciated car, I love the platform... most people don't know what it is in the states. I have not tracked mine yet, but on the street very few cars (if any) can keep up with me on a curvy backroad. The mechanical grip on this car is immense (even after I switched to Continental DWS for the winter), straight-line performance is savage it's almost too much car for the street but I like extra. The steering is a bit... odd as well once you figure it out your good but there is a learning curve.
I also understand Mini enthusiasts are divided on this car, the lack of manual transmission and that the GP3 is nothing like older Mini's it's no longer a car you can rev out, no manual transmission anymore, it's pure BRUTE force, tons of torque with an 8 speed automatic, it's closer to being a FWD M car than Mini anymore. It shares the same B48 engine with the F40 M135i (which unfortunately is not available in the US, because people here are fat, dumb and mostly don't like hatchbacks). In my opinion the Mini is even more savage than the M135 because it's only 2800 pounds and sends all it's power to the front wheels. Mini never wanted the GP3 to drive like the old Mini's... this car is essentially an experiment of HOW FAR could Mini engineers take it with what was available. Even the fenders are from leftover/recycled I3 material, I say I'm impressed with it. The car makes you WORK for the performance, not as easy to drive fast as my Type R was but when you get it right she rewards you well.
Its sucks we're getting less manual in new BMW and Mini line up... honestly I don't mind older models.
@@BboyVReck you couldn’t put a manual in this car. It’s too much power. You need both hands on the wheel.
@BullyBoxer too much power? Type R has slightly more horsepower than gp3, and it can handle power just fine in a manual.
@@BboyVReck Two different manufactures... The JCW GP3 has a lot more torque stock than a Type R does @332tq and it's making all that torque at only 1750 rpm. *EDIT* I also forgot to add the Mini has a TON of torque steer and it does not have a dual axis suspension to mitigate*. It's in your best interest to have two hands on the wheel when driving a GP3.
The Type R makes 295tq at 2500 rpm which is good but the GP3 torque hits alot sooner and harder than the CTR. The CTR also has a transmission that was designed specifically for that use case. Mini never designed the F56 manual transmission with these huge torque figures in mind. The regular JCW F56 manual only has 228hp and 236tq... I've heard the input shafts are too small to reliably handle the massive torque of the B48.
Some people (I was one of the unfortunate ones) decide tune their Type R's for more power and torque but I would NOT recommend this, especially if you drive the car hard or track it. The Type R has enough of a cooling problem stock, if you try to push more power out of that engine you are asking for trouble... it's part of why I have a GP3 now. It does what my modified Type R was able to do and it does it better with an actual proper cooling system to match. Even upgrading the radiator, grill and intercooler won't fix the cooling issues on the Type R, it's a flawed design.
I believe Mini did their testing when developing the GP and manual was considered. However, the cost of designing a new manual transmission was not worth it for a limited edition car. Better to just purchase an already available transmission (the Aisin 8 speed) that is rated for the power. It's an excellent transmission. My GP3 would torch my Type R off the line and it's not even a comparison. Even if I had the perfect launch in a Type R with perfect shifting it still would not have a chance against the Mini.
@gravityhammer25 yea I figured. My last comment is bit rough. Now that you mention it, BMW don't have proper manual transmission for this high powered engine in any there FWD platforms. If it's existed maybe that would be a option.
Great, very capable car, and I like when the engine is stock so it runs like it's supposed to. I thought it was overpowered but I was wrong. Thanks to the owner and Misha for this!
The Mini GP3 is honestly so damn slept on - been waiting for Misha to do a video on this. It's definitely on my wishlist of cars to own, and a must to experience! This video has made me want one even more. 😩
They were almost $50k new. You can see why most buyers weren't excited about a $44,000 mini cooper.
@@borderwave2 exactly
@@borderwave2 And yet people pay 65k for a boring A4 Sedan or even worse, 100k for a RS3 😂
@@B__L everyone thats ordering one at Audi right now, could be more if you take all the extras
@@Malar1898 Imagine spending 50-100k on an Audi S3 over ANY 911. Couldn't be me.
Yes Misha, finally a Mini! Would love to see a clear lap with decent tyres on.
The genuine excitement of spotting a tiny ass gurney flap, i lost it xD Right there with you man!
Ide love to see Misha in a well sorted original Mini on some sticky 165/70/10's, now that would be fun !
Or.... A Mini VTEC 😉
7:33 RIP that massive bug 😢 Also, thats pretty impressive acceleration, goes to show 300 hp is too much for average person to handle around the ring
My manager mentioned one of these to me at work the other day! Great to see a good review and test drive! Definitely be showing him this in the morning... Great vid Misha
You simply have to say that Misha is a great driver... He makes it all look so easy and effortless.
Im so god damn happy theres a mini cooper video. Its my dream to drive the Mini on the Nurburgring!
The sound of the MINI very impressive and love the video!!
hi these are cool ! ive driven a gen one mini and its quite impressive, it feels like a series one bmw hatch but more like a go cart, really nice suspension even stock, i love the interior with all the big gauges and aircraft style switches! This car is a lot more of a car than the one i drove, it was a checker flag model if that means anything
I had a 2nd gen mini with the JCW tuning package, JCW suspension and the full GP interior + aero. That car was a foot shorter than this one and you could put a lot of camber on the front tires from the factory. I put a Quaife LSD in it and it was god at taking corners. I did autocross in it and also did the Tail of the Dragon.
The GP3 is an amazing underrated car, especially when setup properly! I bet you would prefer the heavier but awd JCW Clubman with the same motor.
Loooove minis. Ty for driving one. Such fun cars
I'd love to see a rearview cam. Get to see closing rate of faster cars and overtake reactions.
Omfg yessss! I love my gp3, so happy to see this!!!
Unfortunately, we don't have Nexen semi slicks tires in Europe, but in South Korea they're running with Nexen N'Fera SUR4G which are super sticky :D
Finally a mini 💪💪💪💪
we love that foot pov🔥🔥🔥 Misha is the king of the Ring🤘
Mini's are always so nice to send it in the corners 👌
I always wanted to visit the ring, be even better to ride with Misha, amazing driver, true wheelman, dude can pretty much drive the crap out of anything, love the vids, keep doing what your thing
some semi slicks and proper brake pads this thing will go like a rocket
Misha great driving as always.
Such a shame it's automatic ,a mini should only be manual in my opinion its a more involving driving experience ,still a really good car would love to drive one around the nurburgring one day , great video Misha 👌👍
aaaaand the tyres are gon haha she flies ! its good now and has great potential, i love the aero kit
I think it´ll be a lovely car on track with some coilovers, decent brake system, sticky tyres and a little extra power 😎👌
Those poor tyres, begging for mercy the whole lap 😂
Would love a Mini GP3... would have loved to have been a passenger on this one! Thanks Misha
6:14 so that's how it looks like POV-ish-style when someone takes that shortcut!
Love i!t
I must say I see many cars with Nexen tires at the Nürburgring. If you are not in full send with them they seem to be ok for the money. Those tires were up against a FWD 300hp Mini GP.
Great video Misha. What do you think Mk7 GTI Clubsport or mk7.5 GTI TCR?
as a mini enthusiast, the gp models are a great underrated car, especially the gp2
Fun lap to watch! And that bird has impressive aim🤣🤪😎🙊🙈
YAY! A lap with a MINI 😁😁👍👍
Hopefully you'll be able to do a lap in my MINI next year... 🤞
Love the MINI's 🤟🤟
i have a r56 jcw that i just built a forged engine in. once im finally done with the build i would def let you drive it on the ring!
Misha, can you please explain your braking during the segment starting at 11:11. Your're pretty deep into braking before the bump, off, then slightly on after, before the curve.
He does that so not to trigger ABS over jump.
It was a pleasure to watch
Nice ride, sad the yellow flags. Nice sound ^^
Lovely lap, goes well
CRX at 4:31 is awesome. Hope you can get a fast one of those on the channel.
I H8 the turn signals & Original new ones were terrible sine the cylinder head was a mounting point, and not enough clearance to re-deck after the head gaskets failed.
Love this!!
Misha love your videos man keep doing what you’re doing! I’ve been learning a lot from you. Quick question…
What is your current daily driver? 🤔
Polestar 2 if I watch his videos enough
Wow nice performance 👏
The Mini GP3 has same Engine and Gearbox as the 1er F40 M135i xdrive. The frontbrake is same as M135i xdrive.
Interesting mini
The last 3.39 seemed speeded up! 🤩🤩🤩
Need a better lap with a more up together GP3 pls . 👍🏼
has anoyne tried falken azenis fk510 on the track? How are they doing?
Props to the MB for attempting a detour and reducing his lap time. If you aint cheating, you aint trying!
the part I really come for is the debrief at the end of the lap
02:32 he loves Goooooold! accents! (Austin Powers reference)
Interesting tyre configuration 😅
Misha: what have you done to it?
Guy: I wrapped it, and I drove it here from Holland.
You need to try a R56 !!
That wing 😮😮😮
Such a smooth lap. I think that Suzuki was a Swift not an Alto.
Better tires and that mini would fly
Was that fly the size of a golf ball??
Good video
That's fast Mini.
Beautiful car!
But I don’t understand why you not put good tires on such a car…. Pilot super sport or goodyear f1 super sport or ps4s….
It enjoys the driving so much more and more reliable even on just street.
Besides that love it!
Unless I was mistaken and misunderstood what was being said, I was flummoxed as to why the normal street tires were on the front while semi-slicks were put on the rear. Of course, it’s quite possible I misheard.
What did you think of the transmission? That is the one part of the car that gives me pause given all of the other GP's were manual and this is a rather basic automatic. Girlfriend has JCW with what I believe to be the same 8 speed and it is fine but a bit lackluster for a car that is otherwise phenomenal.
I'm not sure about the GP3 or JCw but the normal Coopers do not handle that well in my opinion, they are way too bouncey through corners, but the automatic transmission does really statisfy for a normal car, much better than the mercedes a/b/cla class dsg's
The F56 LCI Cooper S came with a Dual-Clutch Transmission but it can't handle more than 400nm Torque. Thats probably why the JCW and GP3 got the 8 Speed "Wandler".
But personally i'd get a Cooper S with DCT, throw everything out, Recaro PP, Downpipe+Intake+Tune, Semislicks on Protracks, JCW Brakes and be done with it (Should stay below 30k)
i have heard and read alot about the 8speed new transmission vs the 6speed old. Less problems on the old one thats why the gp3 got probably a wandler because the dualclutch couldnt handle the torque?
@@TheSlash389 the DCT is a 7-speed. But yes it cant handle the torque safely
@@Malar1898 sorry i meant the 8speed wandler was probably the better solution then the 7speed dct. I guess the 6speed wandler is also more robust then the 7speed dct. And you can always go with the manuel and replace clutch and shifter maybe.
got to try a elantra n
hot hatches for live 🚗💥
do more of these
Fuuuuccckkk that’s fast!
Can you do something with an Abarth on track maybe to go on with smaller car content.
Ondanks de minder goede banden een zeer mooie ronde!
been following twenty-one_gp for quite some time, very fun to finally see misha use it on track!! Awesome car!
Great to see a mini on the channel but a shame it was on a crappy tyre setup - who does that mix of tyres?!! 😂😂
brilliant car looks capable...see someone came off a gsxr slingshot there☹️
Why the grippier tires on the rear on a FF car?
I think this could be the 'safer' way to set it up if you had to have a weaker set at all (correct me if I am wrong) but it means you will drift out and get lots of understeer as he did, but I would not have even contemplated having Misha drive it with weak tyres personally as it should have better for him to drive it. I think you can actually hear the tyres struggling to grip under braking too. It is a high performance Mini, it deserves some very good tyres.
Well, after that lap he’ll need some new front tyres anyway. 😅
Perhaps he’ll spend it on a set of Michelin SPC2s as per original spec.
RIMAC ON NURBURGRINGGGGGG
You havent mention the weight of the car
I like MINI on the Nordschleife 😊
Why he don’t put the stickiest tyres to the front of the car ?
so nice car, really
Yeah man. Whot a car. Better tyres and it's gonna be a beast. One tried racing me ages ago. He dusted me. 😂
7:33 bird poop and silence
For a second I thought your passenger was Linus Tech tips lol
Awesome real life karting, Dude got smile on the face whole time, so much enjoyable
Rip to something vs windshield at 7:33
Game now is comparing the Auto Addiction videos with you passing by lmao
Greetings from Malaysia! 🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾
nice 🔥🔥🔥
It's quite odd that the GP3 redlines at 6000. Cooper S/JCW has a 6700 redline.
One day I'll see you in a turbo R53. Awesome video; shame about the tyres.
R53 was supercharged.
R56 was the first turbo charged Mini
@@Jaws677 A stock R53 is supercharged yes
bring a r53 mini
Fake sound from speakers are killing me!
What are those driving shoes you wear? I know Adidas
pleaaase finally drive a tracktool mini in 2024
Bring him well build r53 and let us hear that whine
Seen through glass with a beard haha
just needed better tires, oof.
dont understand why people put shit tyres on good cars!!!!
6:12 AMG entry velocity too high. Audi steer imitated at that moment before overlanding like a Fin in a Volvo
Would you be able to find an R56 generation S, JCW, or GP2 to review as well?
R53 JCW or GP would be more interesting as it is very neutral in handling compared to newer gens
@@wassilia1234 r56 jcw cars are the last true gen of mini's
@@Modmaann I must disagree. R56 has unreliable engine, worse handling and weight distribution, lack of supercharger and is just slower than R53 JCW/GP. Might be similar outside but lacks some performance features that first gen offers. Also tuning-wise the Tritec engine can handle much more. Engine is capable of 400HP without any internal changes and the ported head can withstand up to 600HP.
