I always loved "annoyed Sonic" from the original game when you stopped moving. He tapped his foot and look at you as if to say "wtf man! Let's go!"

My favourite 4th wall break is that line from Conker's Bad Fur Day. "I will be king, didn't you see the prologue" made me laugh.

Absolutely nothing on this list even remotely compares to Psycho Mantis. That dude was one of a kind. Deadpool doesn't count since that's his entire thing, so when a serious game (well, "serious") suddenly whipped out a fight where you had to fight alongside yourself, that was impressive.
I'm sooo glad Earthbound is here. Besides the praying for us thing, there are a lot of other 4th wall breaks, like the tip moles telling about the screen flashes, the arcade punk telling you to go back there once you finished Earthbound (which is funny since you can't finish the game without getting through him), and a billboard in fourside telling about the meeting about Earthbound 2
Doki Doki Literature Club guessing my ACTUAL name during the freaky Monika section scared me more than the characters being deleted

When it comes to things that should get a reboot/revive it's definitely eternal darkness on the top of my list
Absolutely what I've been saying too! That game was just too damn good! It's a crime, really, that they haven't brought it back! I mean, Shadowman was given the remaster it so badly needed, so why not Eternal Darkness?
Maaan Conker don't get enough credit for how entertaining that game was

Off to a good start number 20 is Jak 3 that's hilarious I love that game.
What about Bravely Second? Several characters stare directly into the camera and either ask you for help, make fun of you or scold you for your actions.
Don't discount the first game as well- same ideas, after all.

Almost every unit in "Warcraft 3" and "StarCraft" have quotes about "breaking the fourth wall".
The Arkham Asylum Scarecrow sequences were some of the best in gaming.
I remember the Hyperdimension Neptunia games did a lot of fourth wall breaking, Neptune was the queen of doing it
In resident evil 7, Lucas will let you know if your health meter is low during the barn fight with the fat molded.
My favorite 4th. wall break in gaming was actually not a scene at all but a part of the lore.
I speak of a part of the Destiny 2 Lore.
The Ahamkara, to REALLY oversimplified it, are dragons that even after death grant wishes but allways with a bad/evil twist, while whispering in your head driving you insane.
A indication that one is in your mind and influences you is when they talk to you with a phrase like "O Warrior mine..." or " O Killer mine...." and so on.
While reading some Lore about them they talk about wanting to be free and adress the player as "O Player mine..."
Implying that they not only know that they are in a game but that they see the player and since you heard the "O Player mine..." Phrase are probably allready in your head.
I'm ten seconds into the video and I already know number one will be Psycho Mantis

My favorite 4th wall breaks growing up were in Sly Cooper. Sly sarcastically making fun of the controls to Bentley in the first game.
I gotta be honest but when I was playing the Arkham Asylum game for the very first time I legitimately freaked out thinking that the game had broken and then I was like oh my God thank God

Those Scarecrow sequences are trippy. They almost make the game a full-blown horror game.

Conker's Bad Fur Day's ending has to be one of the most depressing endings I have experienced in gaming. Yeah, there's the interesting fourth-wall break, but damn... it hit me with an emotional gut punch I wasn't expecting :(

@@wuojotteeka9186 while it was said several years too late for the players to be spoiled in his own universe he ended up predicting the future since the poor sap who used what he called a bad pickup line was Anakin Skywalker the episode 1-3 hero and the episode 4-6 Anti-hero( Anti-hero because while he was acting evil he was being manipulated into it the whole time by Emperor Palpatine).

My favorite 4th wall break is actually from Dragon Ball FighterZ with Whis at the end of the first story arc asks the player if they wanna learn more, and to play the other story arcs in order to learn more.

You forgot the ratchet and clank reboot were the plumer tell’s ratchet that he will see them in the next reboot.
I remember a glitch in Knights of the Old Republic 2 where when you meet Atton, there's an option that mentions how he looks different or something like that and he replies with a comment about the game designer and his agent.
It isn't a glitch. It's a easter egg unlocked on 5th playthrought of TSL

The fourth wall break that stood out to me the most definitely had to belong to Splatoon 2's Octo expansion, mainly because agent. It looked at the camera and then smiles at you. The player that always gets me tearing up with joy sadness

I have a small one from the Ratchet and Clank Reboot (2016). At one point in the game, our heroes are forced to follow a plumber character around through one of the levels. It’s very difficult to notice, but right before the plumber slides down a pipe and disappearing he says, “See you next Reboot!” (Or something to that effect)
It’s not acknowledged in-game (Ratchet’s next line talks about the plumber sliding down the pipe), but it’s a neat little reference to the fact that the game is a reboot of the 2002 original.
One more recent one that I laughed at was in KH3. When Axel/Lea is going to be killed he snarks," do you know how many people back home I've got rooting for me."
This works on two levels due to Axel's popularity since he was introduced in Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories but also he was originally planned to be killed off in KH2 but due to his popularity they decided to keep him in the series. So he is basically saying I'm way too popular to be killed off.
In Super Mario 64 if you collected 120 power stars, Bowser will say "You better keep that Control Stick smoking, I'll be waiting."

Providence of Bravely Second does not play by the usual rules of a turn-based RPG. Take too long, and it will enter your commands for you. Then it drops all pretense of fairness and tries to make you delete your save data, though thankfully the party is able to stop it before they are all deleted.

I like how in the Shantae series, Squid Baron is well aware that he is in a video game, but none of the characters know what he's talking about.
Silent Hill Shattered Memories also gives you the ability to call a help line. The Konami representative says that since you're calling from Silent Hill, she can't help you.
Don’t forget about Um Jammer Lamy. That PlayStation sequel was famous for some of its fourth wall breaks in the parappa franchise

i love video games and 4th wall breaks, but not just the ones in the games! any form of media with 4th wall breaks amuses me!
I thought for sure Bravely Default would be on here. The plot involves parallel worlds and implies the real world is the "Realm of Gods". The last boss wants to destroy the gods realm and the players implore for help. The 3DS camera then turns on and makes your face the background literally looking down on the fight.
I was hoping to see that too. It gets even crazier in the sequel.

My favourite fourth wall breaks are from the danganronpa series, specifically the second game.
Monokuma beats up Usami and turns her into Monomi. Monomi then says “H-How…? Even the display (name tag) changed to Monomi!?”
Monokuma says “only a total hack would wait until the end of the story to reveal a cliched twist like that!” Which is exactly what happened in the first game, with the same twist too. Right after, he says “Quick, someone get a plagiarist because I feel like I’ve heard this story before!” 💀💀
Monomi says at half time in class trials “everyone do your best! Don’t lose yourselves! And don’t forget to save regularly!”

Nothing from the Banjo-Kazooie series? Nuts and Bolts is full of them thanks to L.O.G. There’s also the endings to all of the games, Stop ‘n’ Swop stuff and Bottles and Gruntilda threatening to erase your save file.
