You don’t wanna admit that the bulls were literally the best built dynasty at the time and MJ was just the leader of it. No you just wanna admire Jordan and his legacy which is fine but unrealistic.
The league doesn't have the best talent ever. It has rules that don't allow you to play defense. So, naturally, we get all hyped up over all the scoring. If these good/great players were played in an NBA similar to what Jordan played, many of today's top players would be marginalized.
Basketball fans are the only fans that don’t believe in sport evolution lol, the skill set of current players are wayyyyy better than the ‘80s and ‘90s. Jordan had no comp at his position.
The guards Jordan went up against back then was posting up from half court and looking down at the ball while dribbling. Hard/flagrant fouls isn’t defense either.
@@user-xb4fm5rx8h Reasons why you are completely wrong: 1. Players of previous eras had to keep their hands over the ball when dribbling. If their hand was anywhere else it was called palming/carrying = a turnover. They also have been routinely mocked on Inside the NBA for excessively traveling. Watch any of the recent Skills Challenges during the All Star Game and tell me that looks like evolved skills. The midrange game and legit post moves have all but vanished. 2. It's an objective fact they changed the rules of the game to increase scoring. 3. The game is less physical. Less wear and tear. Almost all of the players who've played 17+ season all played between Jordan and Lebron's eras. Meanwhile players drafted around thefirst half of James' era can't stay on the court. 4. If players have evolved and become more skilled, why is it only on ONE SIDE of the ball? The scoring has gone up. There's more 30ppg scorers this year than the last few yrs combined. If players have truly evolved then they would have gotten equally as skilled defensively correct? The difference in eras would then be relatively imperceptible correct? The only reason ppl disparage previous eras is because of the white players. Yet many of the same ppl claim there's racism against Luka and Jokic. Make it make sense.

If Jordan started his career in 2003, he would absolutely shatter the scoring record. MJ has the highest scoring average per game. He would absolutely crush this league because it’s far less physical and offensive players have an extreme advantage over defense.

It's not about participation trophies. It's about respect. Why does Skip Bayless have Lebron at number 9 all time still? Why do some people continually say that Lebron is not top 10 all time and continually put the likes of Tim "Boring" Duncan, Shaquille "Lazy" O'Neal, Kobe "Ball Hog" Bryant, Magic "Party Time" Johnson, Bill "League of Scrubs" Russell and Wilt "One Man Show" Chamberlain ahead of Lebron. Some people have even claimed that Hakeem Olajuwan, Kevin "Ring Chaser" Durant, Karl "No Rings" Malone, Oscar Robertson and Stephen Curry are ahead of Lebron James. At this point, they're probably not sure Lebron is top 20 all time. Lebron will retire with 40k points, 10k assists, 10k rebounds, 2k steals and 1.5k blocks. He's first all time in points, fourth in assists, thirty-second in rebounds, tenth in steals, ninety-third in blocks and third in triple doubles. He has four championships, four NBA MVP's, four Finals MVP's, 18 All-NBA Teams, 6 All-Defensive Teams, 19 All-Star appearances, 10 conference finals championships, 2 gold medals, a scoring title and rookie of the year honors. The only thing missing is defensive player of the year. This is by far the best resume in NBA history but I do agree that Michael Jordan is the GOAT. There's no question Lebron James is second greatest all time but people still aren't sure he's even the best of his era because Steph Curry has four rings, Shaq has four rings, Tim Duncan has five rings and Kobe Bryant has five rings so people use this to say they're all better than Lebron James. This is sickening.
@@chadbrisco4042 I actually read all that. You make some fair points but when it is all said and done this is all opinion. And many of us just don’t see it your way. Some NBA players past and current have Lebron as the 🐐. But the vast majority of players and fans don’t see it that way. It is what it is. And there is far more than dpoy he is missing. He’s missing years of all defensive teams, not to mention rings. He maybe top 5 but there is an argument that can be made Kareem was better and so was Kobe. His longevity is one thing but he is missing something that keeps him out of my top 3.
@Justus Reigns DPOY is really the only thing alluding him but he was screwed out of dpoy in 2012 and 2013 just like he was screwed out of MVP's in 2010, 2013, 2016 and 2017. It kinda seems like someone out there is really trying hard to keep Lebron James from approaching Jordan. I guess Lebron got sick and tired of it and used his in-game approach Jordan in a different way then MVP's, DPOY's and All-Defensive Teams.
They did an analysis of who was more clutch with the game on the line with the last shot in the last seconds of a game-Michael Jordan had a 52% rating, Lebron’s was 22%. People seem to forget that NBA players play for championships, not scoring titles, most rebounds, most blocked shots, assists or steals….championships! None of that amounts to anything if a player’s career is full of doubt because he switched teams to purposely link up with 2 established all-stars to win rings, then goes back to Cleveland to purposely link with a young superstar PG Kyrie Irving, then to link up with all-star Anthony Davis in LA, which has now amounted to the biggest clown show in Lakers history. Then every milestone he’s ever accomplished has culminated in a losing effort, including this scoring title achievement which was topped off by the Lakers losing to OKC. Lebron’s greatness is a product of modern society’s lack of critical thinking and need to create something awesome where there isn’t anything truly amazing to see. By the way, if you compare Kareem and Lebron’s careers based on the age they started playing national level basketball (18 years old), Kareem spent 3 years in the NCAA and collected 3 championships and 5,000+ points. Lebron has no NCAA championships and Kareem technically still has 5,000+ more points and various other achievements Lebron will never have! If these modern day people want to celebrate a really good player, then let them! But 4 rings on 3 different preemptive teams and a season in which he couldn’t even get the Lakers into the playoffs….isn’t GOAT material.
This generation is delusional. This isn’t even a debate and is almost disrespectful. Even with all the rule changes to pave his way Lebron still isn’t nowhere near the player MJ was. He’s just played a long time.
Being in the league for 20 years has helped his career more than anything and is the main reason for the scoring record. To say this league is more talented than ever is ludicrous. He literally has no arch rivals to name just a whole bunch of young'ins who have a hard time being all around ball players like back in the day. Doc was average at best, so his opinion is just that his opinion. Blessings
“A league that is more talented than ever” is a pretty big statement. The drafts of the mid-80s were pretty stacked: MJ, Pippen, Mullin, Barkley, Malone, Olajuwon, Robinson a bit later. Draft class of 96 is well documented with their guys, with Duncan in 97 joining them. The 03 draft class was also stacked pretty good: LeBron, Wade, Bosh
Give me MJ’s career. He was achilles on the court! Few legends in sports. MJ, Ali, Ruth. 🐐’s! I don’t care at all for a long lasting, dimly lit candle for a career! Give me the flame thrower.
lebrons career is a lot better, he isn’t a ‘long lasting dimly lit candle’ he’s been shining bright his whole career, averaging aroujd 25+ for 20 seasons str8
Had Jordan went into the league straight from high school 🏫 and didn't retire briefly during his father's passing, who knows how many more championships he'd have. He would've definitely passed Kareem's scoring title. 😶
Scoring record means nothing towards the debate. If you don't have Kareem or Karl Malone ahead of Jordan as GOAT, then it makes no sense to put LeBron ahead of Jordan if he is #1 in all time scoring. LeBron already passed Jordan's scoring record a long time ago. There is no debate who the GOAT is. Jordan was/is THE GOAT. Jordan is the greatest player to ever play basketball. LeBron has the greatest longevity career of all time
In 1998, MJ averaged 35 ppg and was a defensive player of the year. Nobody has ever done that. MJ was also selected for all-defensive first team 9 times (LeBron 6). A record MJ shares with Gary Payton, Kevin Garnett, and Kobe Bryant. MJ also registered 10 scoring titles. LeBron has 1 (one). So, MJ has 10 scoring titles and 9 all-defensive first team. It appears that in these accomplishments, MJ stands alone. IF MJ played 20+ years like LeBron, it stands to reason that MJ may have acquired additional scoring titles and additional all-defensive first team honors due to his fierce competitive nature. LeBron would still be chasing MJ. At 40 on a bad Wizards team, MJ averaged 21.2 ppg. Everyone knew MJ was going to score, and they still didn't stop him. MJ had to carry some teams (win or lose) all on his own just to be competitive. MJ never asked to be traded or moved to another team with more talent so he could be on a super team and win championships. MJ never tried to stack the deck. LeBron has. More than once.
Sport as a team, is about winning. Sport as an individual, is about winning, & personal achievements / awards are a bonus to celebrate hard work. MJ has 10 scoring titles, LJ has 1. MJ has more MVP & Finals MVP, & more Rings, 3 peated twice. What award do you get for longevity & logically scoring sh_t loads of points while losing a lot?
Two different career paths.MJ stayed with the Bulls amidst the disappointments and failures early on in his career losing to the Celtics and Pistons in those Playoffs. He persevered and his team dominated the 90's.He did not jumped from one team to the other and teamed up with superstars to win championships!Much more MJ embraced the TRIANGLE OFFENSE system of Phil Jackson which is about ball and player movements.
He played two teams though. Well, he is Great and a Monster on the Court and all But to Me LBJ is just the most complete Basketball Player we can’t argue with that. Has higher score, rebounds, assists, blocks and Field Goal Percentage. MJ’s rings 6-15 seasons though but also Bill Russell has 11 and did it in 12 seasons. So That’s that, well again this is my humble opinion. LBJ mah GOAT! Lastly, still averaging 30, 8 and 7. 20th season 38 years old.
Y'all gone give Jerry his flower's because Jordan would've left or retired if they didn't bring any players. I'm tired of this fake ass narrative. Lebron never wanted to leave Cleveland but the owner was not willing to win like Jerry Krause
Mj did stay with the bulls he just had the bulls recruit players to help him win where Cleveland wouldn’t do that for lebron so he took his talent else where Also the business was handled differently back then so you can’t really compare the how many teams each of them played for. At the end of the day I say this is what puts lebron ahead of mj to me. Mj didn’t win those rings on his own so 6 rings 2 threepeats don’t make him the goat. Jordan miss the finals 9 times In 15 years where lebron made the finals half his career. Has better stats in most categories and had a way higher expectation coming into the league than jordan did with out ever playing a year in college Mj had no pressure coming in at all
@@d-rosejames4553 yeh bro so your saying when the game is on the line you want to give it to lebron? Lolol come on bro I’m a lebron fan but I know who I would want to win the game.
The league is going through a growth spirt as far as younger players coming in. Plus with the rules changes not allowing defenders to play hard clean defense you have a great set up for Lebron to pad stats. He's great don't get me wrong and his ability to still play at a high level physically taking care of his body is impressive but I'm sure sports medicine has improved for athletes in the NBA since the 80s. Lebron has achieved alot with alot of pressure on him coming into the league at 18 years old but saying he surpassed those expectations is a bit of a stretch. He under achieved in Miami with the talent on that team. Had Lebron won 4 rings playing his whole career in Cleveland then I could say yes he did live up to those expectations but he switched teams to join superteams so to me its not the same.
In a league that is more talented than ever? Huh? What type of drugs you on? These guys don't even compete are all buddy buddy, play no defense, and literally shoot 3 pointers 70% of the time. 😶
Jordan is clearly the better player, I didn’t even know that was up for debate. Greater career is where the debate is. Honestly I would take MVP’s and Championships because these measure peaks at any given time, individual and team. I’ll take these over any accrued records like total points because these are more a longevity and endurance award than anything.
Like Best COMEDIAN ever was just some hack doing doing Walks in a Bar jokes for the last 50 years...with next to no audience in a secluded city in Alaska?!?
Scoring has never been easier in the NBA than during the LeBron era as well. No hand checking, no hard fouls, 24 second click means more shot attempts equals more scoring and 3 point line that was brand new back when Jordan played so was not strategically looked at the same back then making scoring higher as well. Defense was also stressed more back then. If you couldn’t play defense you couldn’t play in the NBA but today if you can shoot 3 or score you don’t have to play D. There are no longer players like Rodman, Mahorn, the Bruise Brothers who’s main job was intimidation defense and rebounding.
Somehow maintained his dominance...somehow got younger through the years. Lebron Button. Let's bring up Lebron passing the all time points mark, but not MJ having 10 scoring titles to Brons 1, and MJ has the all time highest scoring average of all time. He also has won the defensive player of the year award, and is only one to win that and scoring title in same year.
Jordan had a more aesthetically pleasing style of play. He seemed to float, yet explode at any given moment and he was so technically sound and Artistic with his movements. He never seemed lost or out of place compared to LeBron, who seems sluggish and more of a "brute force only type of player". Nothing pretty or fancy about Lebron's game. Just straight up charging the basket or shooting over someone.
Jordan got knocked out of the Playoffs by the Bad Boy Pistons again and again year after year getting roughed up getting punished every year but he kept coming back little did the Pistons know they were helping a man become better become stronger pushing him to his limits eventually he overcame and swept them and would go on to become the GOAT. LeBron got swept in the finals came back the next year... no wait.. he took his talents to South Beach to join two other all-stars so they could win 7-8 rings or whatever they said The 1st year they made it to the finals they not only lost but he got outplayed by Jason Terry 😅. That's where it ended That pretty much killed his chances of surpassing MJ to become the GOAT

Easy to play defense when people cant shoot anywhere outside of midrange. The distance is literally 2-3x further now on the shots people take. Not only further, but also more accurate and on higher volume. The area would be 2x2 or so, so 4 times the area has to be defended in today’s game.
if Lebron was in Jordan era he wouldn’t be the greatest cause Jordan would make sure .. he wouldn’t get any championships.. like most of the hall of famers we know..🤔

Mostly becuase his great career didn't come with that many great accomplishments... 0 dpoy, 1 scoring title, and a losing finals record..... but he was there for a long time.
I mean he played the longest so yeah, he can break KAJ scoring record. But these two played in different era of basketball. I don't think LJ will last if he would've played during MJ's time.

That was definitely the most political answer of all time.
@@user-xb4fm5rx8h Reasons why you are completely wrong:

Just give Lebron’s fans his damn participation trophy already. The rest of us know the truth.

Shorter career, more accomplishments. Doc is being political, it’s clear what the answer is.
Jordan is the best basketball player ever and he is also the goat.
Spoken like a real man. And not crying, I need HELP.

Also the business was handled differently back then so you can’t really compare the how many teams each of them played for.

This is splitting hairs. You can't have the greatest career of all time and not be the greatest of all time. That makes no sense.
If MJ played for 20 plus seasons he would be the all time scoring leader
你说对的.
Exactly. Jordan didn't have to create contact to score.
@@jaymac4448lies you tell.
The man knows hoops. Don't forget the sometimes defense mentality. Jordan was locked IN start to finish every single game.
This is just hating at this point lmao
Jordan got knocked out of the Playoffs by the Bad Boy Pistons again and again year after year getting roughed up getting punished every year but he kept coming back little did the Pistons know they were helping a man become better become stronger pushing him to his limits eventually he overcame and swept them and would go on to become the GOAT.
LeBron got swept in the finals came back the next year... no wait.. he took his talents to South Beach to join two other all-stars so they could win 7-8 rings or whatever they said
The 1st year they made it to the finals they not only lost but he got outplayed by Jason Terry 😅.
That's where it ended That pretty much killed his chances of surpassing MJ to become the GOAT
💯 🤣🤣. You can't unsee that. D Wade and Bosh were the only ones trying. LeBron quit. MJ would never do that.
@@lifncar28 And to pour more salt on the wound Bron and D Wade mocked my boy Dirk doin the little fake coughs 😂😂 that time Dirk was sick which caused him to channel his inner-Jordan and take things personal... Lmao Dirk went and snatched that Championship trophy they thought they were gonna get 😂😂

If you want to look at a whole basketball life, not just NBA, then Kareem is the best. If you want to look at who had the most impactful NBA career, it’s Jordan, if you want to look at
Stat padding then it’s Lebron.
Kareem is not the best. Played a long time just like Lebron. Only led the league in scoring once. Just like Lebron
League so talented when you can carry and travel all game long and nobody can touch you
4-6 is considered dominance? I see nowadays participation trophies have more value than actually winning.
Every basketball player always be compared to Michael Jordan. Even lebron wears his number. Let that sink in
Shaq was never compared to Mike, wily was never compared to Mike Giannis is never compared to Mike, magic bird were never compared to Mike and countless others so you point makes about as much sense as two hot nickels🙄………..let that sink in!

What they don't tell you is MJ has more top tier records that have not been broken. MJ has more MVP's, rings, a defensive player of year, and has better free throw percentage vs Lebron which is important in terms of clutch at the end of games.
Wilt Chamberlain is the King !
@@rodneymckinnon9075 No rings.
@NBAGOATS check again fam...wilt has 2 rings...with 76ers and Lakers...but Jordan still the GOAT
Thing is MJ own the league. When he reigned nobody ate. MJ stopped other teams from getting that chip. He owned the league. Lebron only owned the East. During lebron's reign others ate. GSW won 3 times, Dallas won, spurs won. Lebron didn't stop the guys on those teams. Let's not even start with the accolades. Jordan has more finals MVPs, more 1st team all defense, more scoring champ for the season.
Nuances matter dude. I'm glad the Celtics didn't draft lebron cuz there would be no debate
So many differences you can’t even start to compare, I doubt anyone could lose their best friend best pal their dad on the hight of his prime lose all motivation, move out and come back and just become better! No way you can equal that ever MJ greatest player ever!
There was no debate to start with.
The campaign to make Lebron the GOAT is nonstop. So I'll ask name things Lebron does better than Jordan? I'll wait
Losing in the FINALS is one thing LeBron DEFINITELY does better than Jordan.....lol 🤣
@Dave Frymire let's be honest Brady became goat after winning later on in his career he won 3 super bowls in his late 30s and early 40s and 2 of those rings he was in his 40s lebron still playing and he's got 3-4 years of playing he wins 2 ring goat debate over

The only thing LeBron has over MJ is longevity.
Lbj only got length of career over MJ and that's while get less mpg and playing less games in a season
Doc said it perfectly👌. I totally agree and respect with what he said.
No he didn't say it perfectly at all. Why is everyone giving LeBron a free pass in la? He is missing the playoffs and being an 8th seed for 4 out of 5 years. Jordan at 38 was doing similar things but didn't make the playoffs because of a terrible supporting cast and a season ending injury and yet everyone to this day still holds it against him. LeBron is not dominating at all and low key has a pretty talented team it's just that he only can play one way.
This will be another bird-magic thing, the rivalry that actually saved the league in the first place
Nba will milk this mj-bron 'rivalry' for all the revenues and mileage it can bring the league

Dude, the nba doesn't play a lick of defense in this era. Jordan is no question the 🐐! Period!!!!!
Easy to play defense when people cant shoot anywhere outside of midrange. The distance is literally 2-3x further now on the shots people take. Not only further, but also more accurate and on higher volume.
The area would be 2x2 or so, so 4 times the area has to be defended in today’s game.
I think people forget that

I give lebron credit for is longevity not in term of many seasons played and games but in term of how he maintains his body ,Mj played till 40 not because of his body maintenance but because of his talent ,and knowing the fact that mj played 9 (82) even 2002-03 he played 82 games that’s speak volume of his longevity
