I completely agree about the importance of physical media. Streaming services can be so frustrating when movies keep disappearing or aren't available when you want to watch them. I have a large DVD collection. ❤
Yeah, for example, I bought a DVD of the movie Antz, so I could listen to the DVD commentary, but also me having the DVD is good, because if it’s ever not on streaming services for free, I can just watch the DVD free of charge.

I mostly love old movies from the golden age of Hollywood because that was when movies were better than today . My mom and her brothers and sisters grew up in the 60’s and 70’s and the love for old films have grown in the family
When I go to thrift stores and pawnshops I've always have the patience to look at ALL their movies. I got so many Criterion and uncommun movies for 1 to 3$ bucks.
Buying physical is the way to go. Even if you buy digitally you don't own the movie. The digital store you buy from could lose the rights to what you bought, and then you won't have it. It's sad that most streaming series don't get physical releases.
I have quite the collection of movies/ tv shows myself for the exact same reasons. But I really enjoy the movies from the 1910s 20s and some silent.. very rare but just notices HBO max has them now!
I think it's so sad that so many tv shows don't get DVD releases anymore!! And when they get removed from a streaming service, especially if it's a streaming service original there's no way to watch it anymore. There are so many of my favorite and comfort shows I can't watch anymore 😔
I’m old school I buy my old tv shows on dvd. 📀 and know they don’t sell them anymore it’s good to buy the DVDs when there available cause in the future they don’t sell them anymore and hard to get
I completely agree with you on physical Media. It's important to have because you can watch it whenever you want or have time and it's with you for as long as you want it. Streaming services take stuff down all the time and there are too many of them. Cool movie collection 🆒😎👍
I feel like I need to go through my DVD collection and see what I have because they are in a box. My favorites are my two Criterion DVDs. I got Double Indemnity and All About Eve and they are gorgeous. Love seeing what you have for DVDs 💿
Having a collection means no more Netflix, you own them, no internet need, it will not go away like other streaming services have expiration dates of licensing also sometimes the one you wanted to watch is not available. Not just that lots of dvd's are 1 dollar or less which is no brainer to buy them.
It's really hard for me to choose just even a few of my favorite or most cherished items in my physical movie collection! I have a good number of limited edition releases, some just limited overall or some that had standard editions released afterwards. I have some titles that are no longer in print and are not widely available anymore. Of course I have certain collector's editions with nice packaging and with extra stuff. And overall I just have big collection and am into boutique labels. SO. ...I have big collector's edition boxsets for Casablanca and the James Dean Collection, which I'm really happy to have. Casablanca is particularly a sentimental item because wanting that release is ultimately how I discovered The Criterion Collection and so many more movies! I'm so, so glad I have Criterion's release of Harold & Maude. It's one of my favorite movies and it's now out of print. Paramount put out a new release of it but I've heard it's not as good and it doesn't have as many supplements. And lastly I'll just say my Harry Potter series steelbooks. They are actually French editions that I got a handful of years back because I love the cover designs! They say the titles in French but I don't really mind because it's the only thing that's actually French about the release and I know French.💿
it sucks sometimes living in Australia because we don't always get a local release of some 4K movies V for Vendetta was one such film so I had to import it through amazon US
I'm getting on a bit but I find it great that young people are still into older movies like Casablanca! I was an early adopter of DVDs when they started in the early 2000's (having already made a massive VHS collection) but now I've mostly upgraded (again!) to bluray. I got too many titles that I'm proud of but I suppose the one I'd choose is my 'World of Wong Kar Wai' bluray set (Hong Kong arthouse film director). A bit pricey and hard to get now but try to see his films if you can (I recommend Chungking Express and In The Mood For Love). Well done on the video and good luck with the collecting!
Not every film needs to be on 4K, of course. But hey, if a movie is available on blu-ray, don't settle for DVD. Both picture and sound is 4 to 5 times better.
I have been collecting physical Media ever since Video Tape Players became mainstream and a VHS Movie was $70 to $80, this of course was before Video Rental Stores became popular. The entire concept of replacing physical Media with Digital copies and Streaming Services, is all about control.
Another thing to consider it that streaming services edit some videos too. I found this out when me and my fiancee were teying to watch movies together. I live in Canada and she lives in the U.S. I have a big dvd collection so some times I would use my dvd and she would use Netflix. We would both do the count down and press play at the same times and threw out the movie we would have to re-sink cause Netflix had edited out scenes. I love having the hard copys and when I really like a movie it's fun to go threw the bonus features.
I also bought Over the Garden Wall immediately after the HBO Max purge was announced because it was clear animation was the most likely to get erased from HBO Max
I have an extensive collection of dvds and blu rays i dont bother with streaming sites for the reason you said streaming sites are unreliable and films are always taken off half the films i got you probably can't get on streaming sites
A couple of years ago my Mom wanted to move to her home country and for me to join her. She talked it up big time, and told me to start selling my stuff so we could move. Two months later she said nah, and I sold 25% of my collection for about 3k. I was so choked, I sold off rare titles I got from ebay and really personal ones. I recently went thrifting and maybe found one of my movies at Value Village. Physical media is always king.
I loved your collection of dvd and bluray movies i would really like to see your movies in the binders please it mean a lot to me to see new movie titles to add to my physco collection cheers iam from northern ireland 😅😅😅😅

All I know is I buy music and movies on Kindle and all of it disappears. I go to my DVDS and they NEVER let me down. The kind of convenience I need is having the hard copy!
One of my favorite shows is Dickinson and I hate that it’s only on Apple TV which I don’t find worth the subscription because they don’t have many options. I wish they would release Dickinson physically, I would immediately buy it

My biggest DVD Collection is James Bond. I have both Sean Connery (6 Movies) and Roger Moore (7 Movies) Collections. Holiday Inn is a racist version of White Christmas. It came out years before WC. Same director. Holiday Inn has a blackface scene that is super cringey. You're better off with WC. They are basically the same movie but with WC you're not getting the blackface scene.
