question, do you go to actual stores or do you just buy online on amazon/ebay? Ive always been confused as to why people actually go to stores for dvds?
@@Haleyncasey bro what? Do you just not go to stores to shop for anything? Or is it just DVDs that you feel aren’t worth the trip to go somewhere for them?
@@packedentertainment2866 there are a lot of things that make more sense to buy at a store rather than online - some obvious ones like food and clothes. dvds, Im not sure why you would go shopping for when buying and searching for specific movies and shows is so much easier online. You could literally spend like a couple of hours just searching for lets say five movies/shows youre trying to buy on dvd at different stores (and likely not finding anything!) vs. taking like 10-20 mins online just comparing different prices/shipping. So I do find it interesting that people actually shop for dvds- especially people that collect movies/shows thats more than just the current mainstream/most popular stuff.
My husband and I have a pretty good size dvd collection probably 100-200 if I had to guess. However my uncle passed away 1yr ago and I choose to inherit his dvd collect, which is about 2,000 😮. They’re currently in boxes, but I’m so excited to have them out one day. He was single, never married, and no children so that’s what he spent money on. I have a dream of potently opening a video rental store one day and being able to share them with others who also miss renting actual movies. ❤
Wow! Its great that you have those to remember him by! I once found so many awesome movies/tv shows at a library bookstore and it seemed like they all came from one owner who had very specific taste in horror/thriller/BBC detective things. The older ladies that run the place said it was an older man who passed and his family were cleaning out his home.
Damn that's kinda sad actually. I feel like I'd turn out to be exactly like your uncle (I'm single, child free, not married) lol with a massive physical media collection after I die with no one to inherit it 😂
Another source for DVDs and CDs is library book stores. Most libraries have them. I usually go to the main branch. They sell them for $1 either a movie or a set. The other day I found some that were still in their original wrapping.
What dangers of streaming? You can literally enjoy both. I fucking hate normies and young people getting into collecting and shit. Yall ruined record collecting, but letting Taylor Swift and that fat blonde chick print their shit music on vinyl.

Back in the 90s when DVDs first came out, they were telling everyone that VHS tapes only have a seven year lifespan. Trying to get people to upgrade it’s probably the same thing. People are saying that there’s a lifespan on DVDs thinking that maybe streaming would be better, however we both know it’s not. 2:42
Hip hip hooray for physical media! No one in my life understands why I still buy blu-rays and DVDs, but you summed it up. And yeah, nothing can beat their special features. I still love to watch the movie with the director’s commentary.
Please keep doing videos like this! I've been collecting movies since i was 12-13 (25 now), seeing collection videos like these is always so comforting
As a long time physical media collector, it’s way cool seeing the younger generation getting into it. I hope you find your favorite version of “Shutter”. I’ve got a pretty well curated collection of DVDs,Blu-ray, and 4K. I can’t begin to tell you how many times I’ve sold various formats only to repurchase as missing a special Feature from a older version bothers me if I love it…😂😂
I love thriftbooks! And I agree, while streaming is pretty convenient, I much prefer having physical media! Just knowing I have this and it's mine, nobody can take it, is a nice feeling. And watching special features is so unique and fun.
The delayed gratification comment is so true. I've been trying to build up my book library with older editions by thrifting more than buying them for a markup on something like pango...and when I manage to hunt one down, it feels like such an accomplishment.
DVDs reign supreme! My collection is somewhere around 4000-5000 - all DVDs because many have never gotten a Blu-ray release in Australia or were the more affordable option
I am literally salivating at the sight of the size of the selections in these stores. I have nothing like this anywhere near me 😭 I’m now living vicariously through this video
Your last dvd collection video inspired me to start digging through those $5 movie bins at Walmart and target! It’s been really fun slowly filling out a shelf

I made it a game of trying to get them for $10 or less. Now I'm super happy to have my collection, especially during periods of time when I couldn't afford internet.
An enjoyable tour and I am envious that you have a great store like 'The Cave' - that was awesome. As I am now 75, my ability to walk around is not what it used to be. been waiting for this! currently trying to rebuild my dvd collection that my parents unfortunately gave away years ago lol
Target used to be so great, but after their remodel, it’s so small and awful! Makes me so sad. So I’m very happy you made this video. Physical media for life!
I actually found a sealed DVD of Pulse at my local Half Priced Books. I was excited to find it because I’ve really wanted to watch it!
Great video. I am so thankful for my film/TV collection especially these days with all that is happening with streaming. Long live physical media!
this was so enjoyable!!! you should do more
I just wanted to pop in to say thanks to this video I finally took a chance on second hand DVDs and bought the original Halloween and Halloween 2 on DVD from eBay because they're no longer available in stores in Australia so thank you!!
this is so nice and comforting to watch ! the cave is my fave place to get my physical media too !!!
