The first time I heard PMG I couldn't believe what I heard, have been a devoted fan ever since 🎸
After a gig by Pat and his band, he once earned the front-page puff headline "Divine Knockout" in my local paper.😃
We can't forget the genius of Lyle Mays.
it's always Lyle
Lyle has been following and was going far beyond Sergej Rachmaninoff...
PMG saved my life in that the music, first heard in 1979 gave me, my life a direction or better said, a real heartfelt joy and I've followed it ever since. I continue to listen and admire everything that I hear from Pat and his groups, and every other connection to a great musician that Pat has shared the stage with over all these years. Lyle was one of the best keyboard players I've ever heard and very much missed. This band is very very special, Mark Egan and Danny Gotlieb, with Pat and Lyle, I just can't put it into words.
know what you Steve mean about this band and Pat because it reaches right into the depth of your soul essence and DNA , I use to think "I wish there was a way that I could connect my brain and feelings to another human so they could experience this joyful bliss and this all consuming emersive experience " next best thing is knowing others appreciate the music you yourself enjoys ;D thanks for sharing your happiness with others
Best liveband ever. Its been a pleasure to be a big fan of pmg for 45 year.
Outstanding and so poetic
I know. PMG live would be a blessing 🙌 🙏 to see 👀 come here to Durham NC for an evening 🙏. I miss you Lyle. I remember back in Oakland California growing up my brother loved jazz. I would listen to him playing an A.M. radio station, K.R.E. radio off the Bay Bridge where it would broadcast from and he recorded the station for the jazz onto cassette tapes. I messed up and recorded on some of those tapes 🤪😭. He was so mad 😠 😡. But I came across the Yellow Jackets and Pat around 76 or 77, maybe even before. But I've been following Pat since then. One of the greatest groups of music all time.
With Danny Gotlieb+ Mark Eagan!! Of course, these super rare recordings are recorded quite well!
Thank you for this Mr. Ian!
Pat and Lyle were an amazing team. RIP Lyle. I love this - thank very much from Melbourne, Australia.
Thanks a lot for sharing this great concert from the early years. I am from Bremen and a big fan of pat.
The Unity Village here is something else. There's even a sigh from Mark's bass.
Miss them very much. Only saw them 8 times.
Anche giovani ma suonavano con una classe da veterani
Like this more intricate version😊
Pat's style is unique. 😎
isn't it : )
Wow! Up until now I had only heard PMG on To the End of the Earth! Nice to hear this gem! No repeated songs! 😉
introduced to this wonderful musicians work in the 80's by a dear darling man Steve Palmer whom is a great drummer himself , loved Pat Metheny every since
Now with the Pat and Lyle. You're winning me over, Civil one. Thanks, pal. Fond regards from Cape, Cod, MA, US.
Thanks for listening my friend! Very cool you are from Cape Cod. I am in Massachusetts as well, but closer to Worcester. Thanks for checking out the channel 😊
This one's way better than the 1977 recording you uploaded. RIP Lyle !
Nice thanks💕

This photo is not from this show, even so from this period.
Thanks. How do you know, though ?
@@TheSoteriologist That's Steve Rodby on bass, but I think it was Mark Egan playing at this time.
you are very dedicated to Pats music ;D LOVE his music
@@TheSoteriologist Also because there is a Synclavier II in Lyle's rig. PMG didn't get that until 1980.
Take that tape and send it to a professional studio that can time correct it and fix its wow and flutter issues and then repost this using the corrected tape.l
