One thing I do appreciate is the seemingly multiversal constant that is whenever the world goes to pot, Green Arrow and Black Canary become focus characters in fighting the apocalypse.
I mean, to be fair, Arrow Fam fans need more W's in general. As many W's as they can get, really. And you know. When it comes to apocalyptic stories, Oliver is at a good power level to be an underdog in the story, but is still popular enough to sell books! So hell yeah! Keep winning Arrow Fam folks! May Green Arrow and Black Canary keep stopping the apocalypse!

If you had a vampire Dick Grayson dating Starfire in Teen Titans Go!, it would have a much different vibe because they have a known history as friends that the Dick and Star in this comic don't. I didn't even realize right away it's the same characters.

I was reading DC vs Vampires as each issue was released, it was really interesting, but at the same time I agree with all the problems that you mention. That’s why I haven’t read the sequel.
But I didn’t know about the artist, it a shame that he is such a horrible person, his style is really interesting.

This comic reminds me a lot of Marvel Zombies. Interesting concept but requires serious mental gymnastics in order for the story to work.

DC established that Dracula couldn't handle solar infused kryptonian blood so these must be space vampires
Dang it’s sucks to hear about Otto. The only think I liked about this series was the art but great now that has a caveat.
5:20 7:15 the "need to be invited to get in your house" rule is more complicated than people think, mostly because it depends a lot on what the vampire in question considers an invitation, Bram Stoker's Dracula for example, he was able to get inside Lucy Westerna's room to feed on her because she slept with her room's windows open, Dracula considered that an invitation, after all, if she didn't want him to come inside her room why would she leave the windows open for him?
Hal Jordan being obviously evil in this story is hilarious.
When I saw the very start of DC Vampires, I just felt in my bones it was gonna turn into a mess. I don't know why, but I guess my instincts were right for once.
Lord, I did not know about Schmidt. I loved his art in Green Arrow.

glad I'm not the only one who didn't like the ending of this book, it left such a bad taste in my mouth that I don't even care about what happens in World War V. doesn't help that it seems to mostly focus on the Bat-family (Barbara being the vampire queen, Damian being a rogue vampire, issue #2 spoiler I found out about from a short) like come on DC you can focus on other characters it won't kill you

When I first read this, I guessed that the King of Vampires was... Alan Scott. We saw early on that a Green Lantern ring can counteract a lot of vampire weaknesses, Alan lived in Gotham during the golden age, and he's got some vampiric traits already (wears a dracula cape, weak to wooden stakes, hasn't aged since 1965).
Anyway, I didn't like this comic, but I did like this video!
DC Vampires is peak comicbook. It's so silly, it's impossible for me to get mad with how stupid it is at times. That whole thing with Wondy being hypnotized made me roll my eyes for all the reasons you can imagine, but after I got over that it's been a real fun read.
All I have to say about this book. Is that vampire Diana.. Is definitely something. Just.. Oof.

I was so in on this book for those first few issues and then the reveal hit which smacked of "the readers figured it out way too soon so we have to change everything up and break the entire series to justify a shocking twist and then basically spend an extra 12 issues fatalistically accomplishing nothing" I hate that I rea the entire thing and spent as much as I did on this.

Did they ever explain why the vampire curse changes the heroes personalities? I get they wanna drink blood now or whatever but why does just turning into a vampire make Nightwing and Superman of all people perfectly fine with taking over the world and burning down the White House

Ngl this book sounds like ass. It would already be unappealing for me considering the whole “becoming a vampire makes you pure evil” shtick is my least favorite kind of vampire story, but between the Bat-worship in the beginning, the characters often acting stupid or out of character, and every twist either being predictable or random, I don’t think I’d get anything out of it. At least the people who do enjoy it are getting a continuation.
I really liked this comic when it started out, but I kinda stopped reading comics because I was too busy for a while. I was so disappointed when I came back to find it had devolved into just discount DCeased. The murder mystery plot was so interesting, and Vampire Hal was so hateable, but the book gave all of that up by the end of the 6th issue.
The world-building felt really confused to me. If Nightwing became King by killing the Queen, why did no-one else do the same to him? It's weird to see Hal and Diana, both MUCH more powerful than any normal vampire should be, be so loyal to Dick, yet both Barbara and Damian just give no shit about vampire hierarchy and actively work against their king.
The comic is not all bad (there's this one scene I love from All-Out War where Midnighter and Vampire Prometheus have a stare down, both having their brain computers calculating the optimal fight plan for them, and after a moment of silence Prometheus goes "Nah you win" and just kills himself), but I was heavily disappointed by the end. And not to be a downer, but World War V is not shaping up to be any better.
If I had a nickel for every post apocalyptic DC storyline feauturing a classic horror trope, in which Alfred Pennyworth inherits one of the mantles of the deceased Hal Jordan thanks to his own inner strength, to protect Damian Wayne...

My best friend and I are big fans of DC vs Vampires… the original. Our party’s DnD campaign is based on the main series. All Out War is pretty okay too, but the new series (World War V) is a massive miss to me. I usually don’t like Matthew Rosenberg’s writing, so I’m not all that surprised, but still disappointed so far.
Every time this happens i always wonder don't we have like 4 or 3 heroes or villans without solar powers than can deal with this also wouldnt Superman who either be inmune or the worst vampire in the world

The first issues set ground rules as plain as day for how the story would work, detective mystery, batfam as main characters, etc. which separated it from dceased.
Then it shit on it all AND THEY KILLED NIGHTWING AGAIN. As it is now, it’s just a worse version of DCeased
Did anyone else think DCeased was really bad? Maybe im just being a stick in the mud but sometimes im just sincerely interested in things I feel to be quite bad being huge successes. Other examples being like the original Ultimate Universe or Civil War.

I was actually very interested in story but then it fallowed typical comic book bs and then I just felt dissatisfied like I could see this be so much better

I dislike the story... it feels too artificial to make the world end... are you telling me that Damian could resist the vampirism mind effects but not Superman? that Diana couldn't break free of the mind control after being converted... that Martian Manhunter didn't instantly try to read everyone's mind to find what its going on(I barely know about this one is possible buuut it's comics and I can easily imagine the esper character being able to do this...), so many little things that make me think how, why... If Batman its as paranoid as the internet make him to be He would have dozens of plans ready for any kind of infiltration war and the like. 6/10 entertaining I guess but you need to not to think too deeply about it to enjoy it.

I was in love with this story when it started, but by Christ the ending was so damn lame and screamed sequel bait. It just felt so flat. The whole who’s turned who hasn’t was great even though the lore kinda was never set in stone. I wonder if there was an exact list of who was on which side
The sequel has been alright so far some really random changes(Damian) but overall not bad. Though the artist can go right to hell

Also, I’m nerdy enough to know that multiple characters here would have immunity to vampirism, which I get doesn’t really matter since out of continuity story, but still makes it hard for me to get immersed and enjoy. Like, the beginning just had me thinking “why didn’t Hal’s ring purge the vampirism” or, better yet, “why didn’t the ring immediately restrain Hal and alert the Corps that he had something weird going on with him”
