It is so hard to watch the parents at the execution. We know John is innocent but they think he is a raping, baby killer. John had a way about him that seemed to soothe people at times( in the movie, idk about the book). I read a comment once that said they thought one of John's reasons for going through with the execution, besides the reasons he gave to Paul, was to give the family closure. The reasons that we heard him give were good enough for me to try to understand him wanting it to be over but I really liked that comment. It gave me a sense of peace that wasn't there before when watching the parents. John obviously tried very hard to save the girls when he found them so it's easy to believe that he could also want the parents to have a sense of closure that they would not get if they knew he was innocent. Wild Bill was already dead. Idk that it would do them any good to learn that they invited the killer to their dinner table. Also, did you recognize William Sadler (Heywood) from Shawshank?

The whole cast is phenomenal but wild bill is played by Sam Rockwell. Easily one of the most overlooked actors out there. He had played some great roles over the years. One movie that doesn't get talked about nearly enough that he stars in is "Mr. Right". Check it out if you ever get a chance!
Speaking of Disturbia, it was loosely based on Rear Window. That is an amazing Hitchcock film that you gotta watch on your channel sometime. It’s one of my favorite films period
I've seen this so many times and I still cried. It breaks my heart and it hurts to watch it, but you just have to watch it. I think I like seeing how it makes reactors feel; so I can judge you. Kidding kidding. But I do like seeing how everyone reacts to my favorite movies. And seeing emotion on others faces, it makes it hurt that much more.
I know what you mean... comparing others' reactions to your own- THAT is EXACTLY what caused me to discover the whole "reactor phenomenon" after I saw "INTERSTELLAR" on my own. It's EXTREMELY rare (and prior to age ~30, virtually nonexistent) for any movie to make me cry. But a handful of years ago, "Inside Out" almost did it (I was watching with others, so intentionally but painfully suppressed any tears)... and a few YEARS after that... "Interstellar" ACTUALLY did (I was ALONE, so I did not hold back that time) ;) In fact, "Interstellar" got me TWICE during the movie, and at the second time, I thought "Ohmigosh, WHAT is this movie DOING to me- does it do this to OTHER people???" Then I started looking up "reactions to Interstellar" lol.
THANK YOU! 32:13 you’re the first person I’ve seen on UA-cam who left this quote in their reaction video; most only leave the line about people being ugly to each other. Btw, I recently found your channel when you posted Hunger Games reactions, so I have to point out that the mother of the two little girls is Katniss and Prim’s mom. Haha. (I assume you recognized the actor who plays their father, because he’s in so many great films, including various Darabont ones like Shawshank Redemption and The Mist.) I can’t say whether something is better than something else, only which one I personally love more, and while I love Shawshank- I love The Green Mile even more. It’s tied with several other movies as my very favorite. Speaking of my other favorite movies, multiple actors in this are in Saving Private Ryan. If you haven’t seen that, I’ll just give you a hint and point out that it’s extremely popular for UA-cam reactions. 😉
Sam Rockwell is one of my favorite actors of all time... And he just was so despicable in this movie! You definitely should react to some of his movies, like Moon, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Seven Psychopaths, even Charlie's Angels was a good role for him.
@@DavidWright1138 I thought Mr. Right was funny and he was charming in the role. Which in itself is funny. But, yeah, I generally don't recommend it to people. I mean, I won't dissuade them, but there are lots of much better options to see first. lol
This movie is amazing but the book is better as it usually always is and it gives more detail into what the inmates have done thats why, while del is kind of lovable here but in the book its like "eh do we feel bad for him?"
Shawshank and The Green Mile are also both Stephen King adaptations, as well as being directed by Frank Darabont. Edit; I’m crying right alongside you, bro 😂 Don’t be ashamed
John was the smartest man in E Block; he dealt justice when it was taking too long for sentences to be applied to the worst of the people around him. Paul does "give the order" to fulfill two promises: one to the state/penal process and one to abide by John's request to be done with it, to stop his pain.
The actor that played Billy the Kid was Sam Rockwell. He also played Guy Fleegman in the movie Galaxy Quest the same year. Rockwell is an amazing actor... Mice live about 2 years so Mr. Jingles lived about 32 lifetimes. Extrapolating for Paul he might live 2,500 years...
Omg I cried when I first saw it. And I cried when you cried again. A beautiful movie. But what makes me wonder if the mouse lived so long and Tom Hanks’ character as well did the women who got cured from her tumor did as well?
Stephen King is known as the King of Horror but some of the best movies based on his work are not horror, but human stories: Shawshank, Green Mile, Stand by Me. There is horror there of course, but it’s based on the horrors committed by humans, not monsters or otherworldly creatures. He remains one of my favorite storytellers to this day.
The ending got me the music an the scene together is when it hits hard. Even the part where Melinda part with him wondering around in the dark. Great movie!
A common field mouse (like Mr Jingles) will live at most 2 years in captivity (12-18 months otherwise). Mr Jingles was 64 years old at the end of the movie.
Sam Rockwell is such a good actor, and he really makes hateful characters come alive. He got an Oscar for playing yet again another hateful character in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. I recommend that, too. He also did an outstanding job in Jojo Rabbit, and in Galaxy Quest. "This is a supernatural movie." Well, it is Stephen King.
You make a very good point, in the South in the 1930's he would have been hung from the nearest tree but due to his size they would have probably had to shoot him. Maybe because there was law enforcement present, that is why the search party did not take justice into their own hands.
It’s good your crying, your suppose to feel the hurt, that’s what John Coffe felt all the time. A great movie about how ugly people can be in this world, and how beautiful some are💜. Your a human with feelings, that’s beautiful 💗. God Bless🙏🏾😊
Doug Hutchison deserved an Oscar for playing Percy, probably the most hated character in movie history. An innocent man with the initials J.C. who could heal people and raise the dead and was executed, sound familiar? Did you see the Halo around his head during the Flicker show?
Also, another amazing film that you would most certainly enjoy I'm sure, is the 1995 Kevin Bacon and Christian Slater powerhouse that is _Murder in the First._ I guarantee you will never forget this film and the acting there in. It's set in 1930s Alcatraz. I would love to see you and or anyone react to this awesome film.
That so great you watched this movie its the best movie ever made I think. It makes you feel every feeling in 3 hours!. It is indeed Oscar worthy, but never got any, just like 'the color purple' and if you watch that you see how it is on the Oscars.. It makes me sad.. But thank you for this one and please think of the color purple to watch to.
Bro. This is truly a very sad and emotional movie. However, there is happy news. Mr. Jingles won an Oscar award for Best Supporting Rodent in a Drama. 🐀🐀🐀
I cry every time I see it. It's such a hard mix of emotions. He is innocent, but wants to die because his daily life is so painful being around humanity.
I tumbled to the fact that Wild Bill had killed the girls real early, but I think I was the last viewer on Earth to figure out that the guards intended to take John to heal Melinda Moores. Check out the book; it's definitely worth reading, and you'll see what a fantastic job they did of bringing it to the screen.
Have you seen Schindler's List? I couldn't find it on your channel (yet); I know that. I can relate to you (being wary of long movies) BUT that's [another] one that actually kept MY attention for EVERY second of it! THIS is my favorite reaction of yours (utterly beautiful reaction!)... here's one reaction to your reaction: 35:00 - "Holy shit" - yes, exactly my thoughts whenever a movie "gets me" that way, too. Especially since it's so rare when it happens to me (apparently for you, too- I've skimmed your channel!). I found your "rank Pixar movies" video and was excited to see you place "Inside Out" so high AND mention you're into psychology; on that note, I have a story about my first watch of "Inside Out" you might find interesting: Long story short, one scene / line from "Inside Out" (at age ~30!) basically got me addicted to tearjerkers. While never having previously thought very much about shedding tears to either movies or life in general, and not doing it myself often at all... after Joy's line (while stuck in the pit) of "Do you remember when she used to stick her tongue out when she was coloring?" ... THAT got me so good that I almost instantly shed tears right in front of the roommates I'd been watching with! But I REALLY didn't want them to see me do that, so I held it in (that was PAINFUL though!) Then, a short while AFTER the movie, I realized I was CRAVING MORE TEARJERKERS. Upon doing a bit of research, I concluded I'd probably [still] gotten a flood of those "feel-good brain chemicals" - endorphins and oxytocin (which can get released with crying)... accounting for the craving. Frustratingly though, although I proceeded to allow myself to pursue more tearjerkers, I discovered it was notoriously difficult to find one that actually made me cry. But some successes have included "Interstellar", "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," "My Girl", "Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind" and (the following one is animated) "The Land Before Time". Those LAST two resulted in the MOST intense cries of my LIFE. The former was one I quite recently watched, but they WERE a very long 7 months apart from each other, lol.
Nobody escapes the tears 😢 Even the hardest people I've seen go by the point you did. No shame, I cry every time I watch it. This is my favorite Stephen King adaptation. 👍
I can't even continue when they get to the execution of John .... and my heart breaks for poor Del. This is one of the movies I always love to see reactions to.
This is the 1st time I've thought about this watching a reaction or watching this movie. If he was able to give some extra life to Tom Hanks, it makes so much more sense now when he says that hes tired. It never says so and I've never read the book but does that mean that John coffee could easily be a couple 100 years old?
So back when this came out My family was watching altogether as Friday family movie night after getting movies from Blockbuster(yes, I’m an elder millennial) At the end when John is dying everyone including my father is just ugly crying and sobbing. All of the sudden we all hear this strange loud noise and everyone turns to see one of my younger sisters. She was making this crazy high pitched noise. I began to get angry because I thought she was laughing during this gut punching moment. Then we quickly realized she wasn’t laughing she was hysterically crying uncontrollably. Once we all clocked it for what it was we turned back to the film together and began crying even more😭😭😭 One of the saddest movies we have ever watched.
I enjoyed your reaction to the Green Mile. Your most liked films (Shawshank +Green Mile+ The Mist) were Stephen King novels that were adapted to the big screen by Frank Darabond. It is not unusual to see some of the same characters in movies starring Tom Hanks. It's what makes the magic. Be well.
I bought the 6 books as they came out, one every month. I kept them until I had them all, then read them. I just reread them last week. It is odd but it is one of the few cases where I prefer the movie.
It was anticipation overload. Book 5 ruined me. Someone stole my copies, but I wasn't mad, I hope they enjoyed them and were as changed by them as I was.

This movie makes everyone cry, welcome to the club.
The whole cast is phenomenal but wild bill is played by Sam Rockwell. Easily one of the most overlooked actors out there. He had played some great roles over the years. One movie that doesn't get talked about nearly enough that he stars in is "Mr. Right". Check it out if you ever get a chance!
Yes, I agree 100%. He's great as Captain K in Jojo Rabbit. He's amazing in Seven Psychopaths as well.
I love Mr Right so so much, I first noticed Sam Rockwell in reboot Charlie Angels as Knox and went back to watch his complete Filmograpy from the 80’s
This film always makes me think about how old John might have been. Enjoy
All the cast is amazing in this, but I also love David Morse! So underrated :(
Speaking of Disturbia, it was loosely based on Rear Window. That is an amazing Hitchcock film that you gotta watch on your channel sometime. It’s one of my favorite films period
We love and miss you Michael Clarke Duncan.
"Interstellar" ACTUALLY did (I was ALONE, so I did not hold back that time) ;)
In fact, "Interstellar" got me TWICE during the movie, and at the second time, I thought "Ohmigosh, WHAT is this movie DOING to me- does it do this to OTHER people???"
Then I started looking up "reactions to Interstellar" lol.
Haha. (I assume you recognized the actor who plays their father, because he’s in so many great films, including various Darabont ones like Shawshank Redemption and The Mist.)
I can’t say whether something is better than something else, only which one I personally love more, and while I love Shawshank- I love The Green Mile even more.
It was a really horrible action rom-com that should probably be avoided at all costs; but I even liked him in Mr. Right (plus Anna Kendrick was cute).
I felt bad for him. Sure, he's done some terrible TERRIBLE things but I couldn't just not feel sympathetic.
Shawshank and The Green Mile are also both Stephen King adaptations, as well as being directed by Frank Darabont.
Edit; I’m crying right alongside you, bro 😂 Don’t be ashamed
"I wanna punch that man in the throat" - Truer words have never been spoken.
Great reaction. You're a new man now.
True
One of the best movies of all time, I really enjoyed Paul's bond with John Coffey
Percy is easily one of the most hated villains of all time. And I think Wild Bill comes 2nd he was just a monster.
So glad you reacted to my favorite movie of all time! I’m glad you enjoyed it!!
A common field mouse (like Mr Jingles) will live at most 2 years in captivity (12-18 months otherwise). Mr Jingles was 64 years old at the end of the movie.
This is my all time favourite film. Never fails to make me cry
Dude what are the odds ? I just finished rewatching this movie !
Darabont wrote this screen adaptation of Steven King’s 1996 novel of the same name.
Sam Rockwell.he’s great Actor!
This movie is absolutely amazing! Great reaction!!
Thank you!
You are sooo Right!Every reaction on UA-cam on viewers watching this Movie is the same.Teary-eyed.One of the most heartfelt Movies of all-times.
Frank directed, Shawshank, Green Mile & Mist which are all Stephen King books. When he directs a King movie it's been pure gold!
And apparently King prefers Darabont's endings as well.
"I don't wanna cry today" Well, I would suggest shutting the movie down then. lol
Michael Clarke Duncan won a People's Choice ans was nominated for an Oscar
You should react to The Mist. Another Stephen King adaptaion directed by Frank Darabont
Doug Hutchison deserved an Oscar for playing Percy, probably the most hated character in movie history. An innocent man with the initials J.C. who could heal people and raise the dead and was executed, sound familiar? Did you see the Halo around his head during the Flicker show?
I love this movie, it’s my favorite and I always need to cry 😭 best story and the acting is so amazing
Ggggrrrreeeeaaaaaytttt movie. Highly affecting.
The best film of all time. Nothing is as powerful as this
This movie is based on a Stephen King book, as was Shawshank Redemption and The Mist. 👍
Great reaction for a cinematic masterpiece. The final act always evokes tears 😢 Keep up the great content!
I cry every time I see it. It's such a hard mix of emotions. He is innocent, but wants to die because his daily life is so painful being around humanity.
One of my favorite movies ever, a must-watch personally. Superbly well done, and amazing reaction
Everything you said is soooo Right On!
This is one of my top 3 movies. Stephen King is my favorite author. And this adaptation is without a doubt a masterpiece.
Have you seen Schindler's List? I couldn't find it on your channel (yet); I know that.
I can relate to you (being wary of long movies) BUT that's [another] one that actually kept MY attention for EVERY second of it!
THIS is my favorite reaction of yours (utterly beautiful reaction!)... here's one reaction to your reaction:
35:00 - "Holy shit" - yes, exactly my thoughts whenever a movie "gets me" that way, too. Especially since it's so rare when it happens to me (apparently for you, too- I've skimmed your channel!).
I found your "rank Pixar movies" video and was excited to see you place "Inside Out" so high AND mention you're into psychology; on that note, I have a story about my first watch of "Inside Out" you might find interesting:
Long story short, one scene / line from "Inside Out" (at age ~30!) basically got me addicted to tearjerkers.
But I REALLY didn't want them to see me do that, so I held it in (that was PAINFUL though!)
Then, a short while AFTER the movie, I realized I was CRAVING MORE TEARJERKERS.
A common mouse's lifespan is 5 to 7 years, which means Mr. Jingles is around 55 years old.
John Coffey has 'the shining'
Most likely yeah
One of the saddest (if not THE saddest) movies ever made 😥
So back when this came out My family was watching altogether as Friday family movie night after getting movies from Blockbuster(yes, I’m an elder millennial) At the end when John is dying everyone including my father is just ugly crying and sobbing. Once we all clocked it for what it was we turned back to the film together and began crying even more😭😭😭
One of the saddest movies we have ever watched.
I cried too, even after multiple times watching this
Dudes was in The Green Mile, Shawshank Redemption, & the Mist
I enjoyed your reaction to the Green Mile. Your most liked films (Shawshank +Green Mile+ The Mist) were Stephen King novels that were adapted to the big screen by Frank Darabond. It is not unusual to see some of the same characters in movies starring Tom Hanks. It's what makes the magic. Be well.
John Coffey-Jesus Christ. Ty for your honest reaction.
Frank Darabont also did Delores Claiborne. Also an excellent movie.
