Funny how Im watching this video from 11 years ago, because Im planning to buy one. Yes 11 year s later since Im in Guatemala. But I just wanted to shout out how funny it was to hear the joke about 5.8¨screen. And the junk in the trunk. lol. Hope to find you guys well.
Hahaaa, I giggled at the "any girls will tell you that 5.8" is not going to be enough" - I thought it was not how big the screen is but how you use it??? LOLzzz. Good one my friends :). Love your review.
Props to Alex for understanding the allure of Mazda. It's a little different, it's a little quirky, but it's totally worth it. People need to start driving more Mazdas because it would be a damn shame if they left the US market
You guys are the Batman and Robin of car reviews online. Good job! Regarding the Mazda, if I were in the market for 3 row crossover this would be it with the Buick being my second option.
How about a head to head comparison of the CX-9 and Pilot? Or some other 3-row crossover/SUVs? You guys do a great job with the series. It is nice to have cars reviewed that normal people can afford. The big car mags and their reviews of the latest Bugattis, Lambos, and Ferraris are fun, but how many of us will ever be in the market for one of them?
The look hasn't changed much from the start of production in 2007. However 2013 gets a face-lift to bring it in line with the new mazda design language.
I think I'd go for a Durango without the RT package. It is slightly narrower and shorter, but has 2.5" more 3rd row head room. The V6 has 17 (or 22) more hp than the Mazda, and from what I've read, the actual fuel economy is better. The Durango's wheelbase is 6.5" longer, but the turning radius is slightly less than the Mazda's. Plus it has 8.4 when 5.8" just isn't enough.
Mazda skyactiv engines, that have a automatic transmission, it's not a stranded automatic, it has components of a CVT and Dual Clutch. I had a '13 Focus that had a DCT, which sucked. That's why I love my 13' Mazda3 Skyactiv auto.
Alex, I don't think the cargo room is terrible, for a midsize CUV, I think is very competitive with the rest except for the Honda Pilot. If you wanna see terrible, check out the Kia Sorrento with the third seats up, you'll be lucky to get a shoebox in there.
This CX-9 is just a refresh. It has been around for 6 years. The interior layout was actually two Gen old, u can c that red n black screen on any 04 to 09 Mazda. This car hasn't got any Skyactiv treatment yet.
I drive a 2009 cx9 GT great vehicle and at night the blue accent lighting on the shift nob and the doors is a really cool feature. Fuel economy is dismal though this engine albeit is reliable needs and update like yesterday
i understand that. My question is that this vehicle performs better than the edge even with the extra horses. It might be faster in 0-60 but not in handling and space. But yes it need a redesign but it has had it best march sales for 2013 with it refresh.
Guys, you were talking about SkyActive while describing the engine and performance. This is not a SkyActive engine/transmission. It's the same engine from 2008 and hasn't changed since. #justsaying
it 6 years old yet it still a boss compared to other suv. Only the gmc acadia can come close to it. It still the best handling but yes the interior could use some work.
I totally agree with David Malinovski about the effectiveness of the CVT. Honda has started using CVTs too and Honda enthusiast I bet were surprised about this. Butttttt.......I hear nice things about CVT if It has a Honda badge. WTH!
Love David and Alex, they're funny, knowledgeable and great hosts! I wish you guys could do an Infiniti Qx56 or Qx60 (Jx35) review though .... well whenever you do SHOUT me OUT Please (:
If you like consumer report you can see that they recently placed toyota on the most reliable and mazda right behind it with nissan dropping behind. They didn't say why but its the cvt. Cvt after a while you have to replace the belts and pulley.More money to spend. Its a nice idea and i know why they made it Infinite gear ratio but I hate it when people say it better than a traditional auto transmission.
I have driven the 2011 altima with a cvt for a week and i didn't miss the auto on urban road but on the highway it was annoying and wasn't as fast or exhilarating as a regular trans. Right now the mazda6 and the accord is leading. But sir you are wrong. When a car manufacturer make a car they give it the fuel economy rating. If they are a lot of complaining that it is wrong but alot like the hybrid fusion wrong by 10 mpg then they step in and test the car.
it actually not weak fo the suv. The honda pilot engine is way too weak and struggling to pull that. Have you ever driven this car it feel very lively.
i really don't think you have driven this vehicle because its not weak at all and the tiptronic is probably the best on the market you can actually get to the red line without the computer shifting if for you. You realise mazda design the platform ford builds it .And this engine is made in japan even though its a ford product.
What funny is your car doesn't have a cvt.Toyota is the most reliable but not the prius it pure garbage. And no they have not always used one.Why don't you gather the right info first before commenting. If mazda is so bad why did consumer reports rank it #4 right behind lexus, toyota and scion(same company, and not consumer report only). Also it show nissan breaks down more often now.Im a mechanic im not making this up. there facts to back me up. I don't mean to sound rude.
"Skyactive is just a marketing buzzword..." And "Nobody likes those pesky CVT transmissions..." This guy showing his lack of knowledge is pretty sad when he is a car reviewer.
Well look harder. it not going to last forever. If you can find anything about changing belt in it life they you really dont know much about cvt. And i didn't imply it to you only. Nissan put up a very bad and biased explanation of a cvt vs a traditional auto. In the first year they put it in the maxima it would burn out the computer and the cvt didn't last very long but maxima owner don't like to admit that. Im a mechanic i see theses things. in ny it a 800 dollar fix.
I dont mind a cvt. it good in an altima.but look how nissan screwed up the max. the maxima was a legend in the sports car segment. Now its a washed up slow fat car. The altima is faster than it.
CVT are efficient but they suck. But really how efficient. The new mazda 6 get 38 with a 6 speed auto, the honda accord get 35 w/cvt and the altima get 38 w/cvt. The nissan rogue get 28,the new cx5 get 32.The 2.0 get 35 class leading without a cvt.The pathfinder get better gas mileage because it got a redesign all the other are old.Mazda is not losing money. They sales show they went down 1.1% versus last year and they drop 3 vehicles. All the new redesign model are top sellers.Nissan sucks.

I’m planning to buy too after 11 years, did you end up buying? If yes, how is it running

@6:28 ...so smooth, no break in his speaking rhythm at all. The other guy is just trying to hold in his cookies lol
I like how Dave always matches up the color of his sport shoes to his shirts. :) That's dedication!

I have a 2009 CX9 and it's a great vehicle. It handles much smaller than it actually is. 20" wheels look great and the bose stereo kicks butt.
The look hasn't changed much from the start of production in 2007. However 2013 gets a face-lift to bring it in line with the new mazda design language.
@Badr, I'm not sure I understand your question. I'm sorry - Dave

That's his 4th appearance - only a few people have actually commented on him. Nice work - Dave
i understand that. My question is that this vehicle performs better than the edge even with the extra horses. It might be faster in 0-60 but not in handling and space. But yes it need a redesign but it has had it best march sales for 2013 with it refresh.
Nice work, you are the first! - Dave
everyman driver nation!!!!! anchorman dave for president!!!!
6:30 any girl can tell 5.8 inch is not big enough! Haha
Dave was holding in his chuckle 😂😂
I like how that was put in on a sneak tip! good one @6:29
Guys, you were talking about SkyActive while describing the engine and performance.
This is not a SkyActive engine/transmission. It's the same engine from 2008 and hasn't changed since.
#justsaying
@mark williams, There's a key hidden within the key fob - Dave
excellent review, thanks guys.
it 6 years old yet it still a boss compared to other suv. Only the gmc acadia can come close to it. It still the best handling but yes the interior could use some work.
Was considering this or a toyota highlander...currently driving a subaru outback might need a little more space for a soon to be family of 4...hmm 🤔
Mazda did a nice job on this vehicle. Alex is hysterical, but don't let it get to your head, brother!
I totally agree with David Malinovski about the effectiveness of the CVT. Honda has started using CVTs too and Honda enthusiast I bet were surprised about this. Butttttt.......I hear nice things about CVT if It has a Honda badge. WTH!
slide the second row seat forward, drop the third rol flat, slide the second row all seat all the way back.
Love David and Alex, they're funny, knowledgeable and great hosts! I wish you guys could do an Infiniti Qx56 or Qx60 (Jx35) review though .... well whenever you do SHOUT me OUT Please (:
i still prefer my 2012 Mazda CX-9 because i like to smile...we're a happy FAMILY...
wait what does this mean is this car not safe?
Did u guys do a review on the gmc Acadia?? If u didn't could u guys put it in request??
If you like consumer report you can see that they recently placed toyota on the most reliable and mazda right behind it with nissan dropping behind. They didn't say why but its the cvt. Cvt after a while you have to replace the belts and pulley.More money to spend. Dave's voiice is perfect for a motoring review...
6 years model !! do u mean that this car look well change completly after 1 - 2 years OR this is the new look ??? plz answer my Q
I can fold both third rows in mine even when the seat is all the way back! No fair. :(
This is not a sky-activ engine. Skyactiv does not have any 6 cylinders yet. This is an old Ford V6
2:55 - Is that a bird? No, it's a plane!
I have driven the 2011 altima with a cvt for a week and i didn't miss the auto on urban road but on the highway it was annoying and wasn't as fast or exhilarating as a regular trans. Why wouldnt you compare it with the Highlander? Instead you mention CRV and RAV4...
Excellent job.
it actually not weak fo the suv. The honda pilot engine is way too weak and struggling to pull that. Have you ever driven this car it feel very lively.
@3:00 what's with the superman.
Probably an ode to Seinfeld.
That was a smooth transition...any girl...not big enough...I'm still laughing
PLEEEEEEEEASE review nissan pathfinder 2013. I love your reviews!!!
what comes near to this suv. It the best handling in its class motor trends did a video "2011 mazda cx9 review".
And yet in the explorer it is slower... albeit with maybe better fuel economy!
does it have a remote start?
lol
@@everymandriver what does that mean? do it have a remote start the grand?
@@mrcarpet4u I don’t know. It’s a 2013. You can buy a remote start aftermarket unit.
The new CX-9 currently has no skyactiv technology. And has anyone heard a male car reviewer say "proper automatic transmission?"
Dave's face when Alex said 5.8 inches is not enough is priceless
! haha
No push button start? Common Mazda , and stearing wheel from 90's .otherwise looking to lease one soon
Guys, why not review the Volvo XC90 ?
i agree with the interior styling comment. but "Boss" nah. i dont think so.
i really don't think you have driven this vehicle because its not weak at all and the tiptronic is probably the best on the market you can actually get to the red line without the computer shifting if for you. Is that the Ford v-6?
Yes
6:28 🥺
wow the deer didnt run away! they r so shy in new york!!
@Milton, I would LOVE to drive and review the Acadia... consider the request SENT :-) Dave
One question. What happens when the keyfob battery dies how does one start the vehicle?

It's A Bird It's A Plane It's Superman!! (2:54)
What's up with the little superman statue?
"Skyactive is just a marketing buzzword..." And "Nobody likes those pesky CVT transmissions..." This guy showing his lack of knowledge is pretty sad when he is a car reviewer.
maybe it's bad gasoline that brings the milage down.
3:00...what is superman doing ??
nice joke alex!! haha dave was trying so hard to hold in the laugh!!!
I give it a 9.
that gas milage stinks!! my 2012 jeep grand cherokee with the v6 gets an avg of 17mpg and i drive in the city only!
lol. about the 5.8 in reference.
4:50 Dave or Alex don't know who but someone is farting!
Think you guys should work on a proper intro. The like, comment, subscribe should be at the end. Just a suggestion. Tell me what u think
Near same as the 2006 CX-9
Well look harder. it not going to last forever. If you can find anything about changing belt in it life they you really dont know much about cvt. And i didn't imply it to you only. Considering 5.8 inches is average, it would explain why women are never satisfied.
It's back looks like the Hyundai Santa fe...
man alex is funny haha .
I dont mind a cvt. it good in an altima.but look how nissan screwed up the max. the maxima was a legend in the sports car segment. Now its a washed up slow fat car. The altima is faster than it.
please review 2013 AUDI Q7
nope it just suck on gas. I bet if you put in premium it will get better.
Any girl can tell you that 5.8 isnt enough!!! Bwahahaha!!!!
You guys must be Vikings. I'll never have anyone over 6'0 in my car
5.8 inches just isnt enough! LOL
I don't know, I found it kinda funny
5.8 inches just isn’t enough…lol
Sexual innuendos jokes...funny...lol.
All our junk inside this trunk Lol!
i like the lame jokes
Yeah 5.8 inches is not enough..lol
CVT are efficient but they suck. But really how efficient. The new mazda 6 get 38 with a 6 speed auto, the honda accord get 35 w/cvt and the altima get 38 w/cvt. The nissan rogue get 28,the new cx5 get 32.The 2.0 get 35 class leading without a cvt.The pathfinder get better gas mileage because it got a redesign all the other are old.Mazda is not losing money. They sales show they went down 1.1% versus last year and they drop 3 vehicles. All the new redesign model are top sellers.Nissan sucks.
why are mazda interiors so damn boring? even "sporty" mazda3 and mazda6... boring.
LOL IT DOES !!
Hmph, nothing more than a video owners manual.
