      You should separate all your multitools in different categories and select the best of each category.
      A lot of people would get the best tool without having to buy a full collection.

    Very good video, diezelle57. Obviously your needs are significantly different from mine and therefore so is your concept of what an EDC system should be able to do. I can't imagine carrying that much weight around. Both of these kits have to weigh about 2 pounds. A ratchet? A bit extender that you can't even get out of the case?. Really? I have both a Wave and a Surge. In both cases I carry the tool and a single AAA Maglite. With the Surge I also carry a couple saw blades. That's it. If I'm in a situation where I need a ratchet, a long screwdriver, or a Torx bit, I'm pretty certain that I'll be able to find one within easy walking distance of the tool bag in my car. That said, you have an infinitely better idea of what you need than I do. More power to you.

    • @diezelle57
      @diezelle57  5 років тому

      The idea to understand well is decoupling. For example, on one side I hold a nut with the pliers of the multi-tool, on the other I screw or unscrew the bolt using the ratchet. The ratchet is stored in the case of a single multi-tool, this is less bulky and lighter than carrying two multi-tools. The Swisstool Spirit Plus set weighs 377 grams. Adding a mini-ratchet to a Leatherman set will add only 32 grams. My complete Wave set weighs 426 grams. Obviously, what a proposal, everything depends on the circumstances, we can in many cases be content with a Wave without accessories, or even Skeletool. Thank you for your comment :)

    • @michaelcolloton6971
      @michaelcolloton6971 5 років тому +1

      As I tried to make clear, I understand and respect that your needs for a multitool are different from mine. I must say, though, that I'm shocked that you can put all that stuff together with a Wave and the whole kit only weighs 426 grams. That's about what my Surge with a leather case and a Maglite weighs. My Wave kit is similar, but weighs about 310 grams.
      You have obviously invested a lot of thought into your kit. I'm very, very impressed.

    • @diezelle57
      @diezelle57  5 років тому

      I confirm, 426 grams:
      - Wave⊕,
      - 5 compartment sheath,
      - bit kit,
      - removable ring,
      - belt clip,
      - extender,
      - 1/4" SOG socket adapter,
      - 1/4" socket adapter (homemade for Leatherman bit drive),
      - standard bit holder,
      - mini ratchet.
      Thank you for your feedback :)

    May I know your opinion, how do you think about cutting hook? Is it useful? Is it important to have in an EDC+survival multitool?

    • @diezelle57
      @diezelle57  4 роки тому +2

      The hook linked to a quick-opening blade can be important for cutting a seat belt ... but this blade is serrated and not pointed on models without hook (Wave), we can do without.

    Hi diegel,
    Thank you for your great job, I enjoy you reviews a lot! Please, reply to my question: what would you prefer/recommend (I'm really hesitate) : Leatherman Surge + 2 bit sets + bit's extender (with old good nylon sheath capable to hold all the stuff) or
    Victorinox SwissTool CS Plus (MFR # 53946, includes some bits and wrench, leather pouch). Once more, I'm hesitate, but tend to Surge direction. I will leave this comment on your latest video too, to be sure you don't miss it.

      @@Durwood71 From my personal experience Victorinox Do not stand behind their Warranty. Victorinox gave me the run-around for the Jetsetter.
      Leatherman has a more Industrial design and stand by their Warranty.
      In a Serious Survival situation, when you're cold,wet, hungry, (in a fight/flight scenario) and limited dexterity in your fingers,i would love to see if you'll be able to get those Tools out from that Spirit or Swisstool. Yes it's on the outside but it is so tightly packed and so reliant on those small nail nicks- it will be to your detriment.
      With the leatherman Classics- Wave,Charge,Surge,Supertool 300 or even the Rebar i could get those tools out with ease. One hand opening blades even the Rebar blades are easy to get out with Large Nail Nicks.
      You even get better Blade steels 154cm /S30V and 154cm cutters. I prefer to have a tool that i can use when shit hits the fan with tools that are easy to deploy.

      Blue Gear ... You're exaggerating. The tools on the Swisstool X are not exactly difficult to open, even in a worst case scenario. I could open it one-handed with no problem if I really had to.
      As for the warranty, I've never had the need to use it, but they have an excellent reputation. Your situation is the exception, and I suspect there's more to the story than what you've said.

      @@Durwood71 Im not exaggerating. It is fact. Ease of use when your fine motor skills are compromised is something often overlooked by many. I have been in such situations, it is not pleasant.
      That doesn't mean i dont use Victorinox, i edc a classic/rambler (with my Leatherman) and i love the compact. Love the alox models. My favorite is the bantam alox.
      That being said i would Not go out in the field with any plier based Victorinox for warranty reasons and more importantly deployment of the tools.
      Also I like what Tim Leatherman has done and i personally prefer to stick the Original manufacturer when it comes to Plier based multitools.
      However i respect your opinion and if it works for you, i'm glad. Everyone has their likes and dislikes.

      Blue Gear ... I've never had a problem opening my Swisstool even in less than optimal situations, so it seems to me that you are exaggerating. Besides, I also carry a Benchmade Mini Griptillian and a Leatherman Tread, so I'm ready for the zombie apocalypse.

    De l'enfantillage? Eh ben pour moi le multitool qui supporte toutes les comparaisons est justement un Victorinox, déjà rien que pour la qualité de construction, l'ajustement précis et la résistance à la corrosion.
    Avec un SwissTool X Plus Ratchet il ne manque déjà aucune fonction. Mais quand on a une clé à cliquet, on a besoin que d'embouts pour la partie "serrage" qui n'est en plus pas pratique à utiliser sur l'outil. Je remplacerais donc le petit tournevis par la lame dentée et j'y apporterais juste deux avantages trouvés chez Leatherman: les coupe-fils remplaçables et le support "tige T" (T-Shank JigSaw) en remplacement du cruciforme.
    Cette fois y aurait donc les deux types de lames, les deux scies, deux limes, les ciseaux, levier, burin et support de lames amovibles! Qui dit mieux..? :-)

      Vous n'avez pas compris mon propos. Un propos pourtant à la compréhension d'un enfant. Alors je vais vous expliquer : Victorinox multiplie depuis des décennies, par la simple opération de panache des outils, ces modèles de "couteaux suisses". S'agissant de pinces multifonctions, Victorinox n'a jamais produit que deux modèles, le Swisstool et le Swisstool Spirit.

      diezelle57 Oups, je ne m'attendais pas à cette réponse.. Moi qui ne comprends même pas des choses à la portée d'un enfant, j'ai honte maintenant :-(
      Comme je me sentais tout bête et à la fois honoré de recevoir la réponse d'un expert mondial, maintenant que j'en connais un j'ai voulu saisir ma chance et chercher le fruit de votre savoir. Je me suis lancé sur la grande toile et.. ce que j'ai recouvert en tapant Diezelle57 ben c'est pas ce que je pensais :-((( J'ai vu qu'il n'y avait pas que Victorinox ou moi qui ne sommes pas à la hauteur, mais en fait un peu tout le monde.. Devant tant de connaissances, je me suis senti indigne d'être abonné (my bad, comment j'ai pu être aussi prétentieux en cliquant sur ce bouton rouge? Mais bon, je pensais que ça parlait de choses intéressantes avec simplicité..) Bref, j'ai maintenant rectifié cette erreur et je me sens soulagé. J'avais pourtant mis un smiley, mais j'aurais dû faire comme les deux autres personnes qui ont osé commenter: sans trop argumenter. Par contre j'écris mieux le français..
      Pour le petit cliquet, vraiment..? Dans un "coffret de visage"? J'aurais plutôt pensé trouver ça dans un "coffret de vissage". Mais bon, je m'incline face à l'Expert Mondial, qui distribue les bons points mais aussi les perles :-)))
      Allez, je vous laisse entre vous.. #arrogantmental

      Il est vrai que le désabonnement d'un individu réduit à faire les poubelles de mes fautes de frappe ne soulèvera pas la consternation ! :)
      Il peut disposer.

      diezelle57 Mouais, heureusement que je ne me suis pas attaqué à pire, j'ai vu qu'il y avait de la matière sur quelques sites que j'ai pu parcourir, mais bon d'autres ont l'air de s'en occuper.. Vous n'avez jamais essayé de chercher votre propre nom sur le net? J'espère que c'est un pseudo (+ pas de visage, pas de voix..) Effectivement c'est mieux.
      Il dispose sans regret :-)

    Leatherman est 100% mieux pourquoi parce qu'on peut bloquer tout les outils et les couteaux la pince et juste l'outil par excellence le plus indispensable et on peu sortir et refermé les lames à une main se qui n'est pas possible chez Victorinox

      En effet mais le Swisstool Plus (donc avec les embouts et le cliquet) permet de réaliser des opérations supplémentaires.
      C'est la raison sur laquelle je montre, dans d'autres vidéos, des ensembles Leatherman dotés d'un mini-cliquet :
