Thank you very much, especially for the shots from the end of the pliers! Yes, my new SwissTool cuts about the same, maybe a little better. I'm sorry, I'm upset. I would like a complete lack of play in the pliers in my case. Apparently victorinox makes a sight on the cut of the wire, and not stranded wires and thin wires.
Excellent comparison! 👍🏻 I own both and I find the Swisstool to be much more practical as well as far more refined and much better built than the Surge. The attention to detail, smoothness, comfort of use and overall precision on the Swisstool is just second to none and unsurpassed by any other multitool I've tried so far. Absolute winner for me: the Swisstool. 🥇 I repeat: FOR ME.
In my opinion, the wire cutters on multitools are for cutting stranded and solid wire up to 12 GA. And of course tie-wraps. Heavier wire and cables should be cut with side cutters.
hi. i wonder if Swisstool can cut chainlink fence with no marks or deterioration. its basically 3 mm hardwire. huge advantage for Surge with replaceable cutters. but most of us use multitools in emergency only and if i can use a cheaper multitool or a dedicated tool, i do so. thanks for demonstration.
Yes, I just purchased a Surge for this reason. I wish Victorinox would have a swisstool with replaceable wire cutters, as I much prefer Victorinox quality and precision.
I cut cables often on Garage Doors. .if I need to ..and tension is on springs..(Dangerous) I sometimes use tin snips for extend reach... Sometimes I use Grinder with cut off disk..if I am making Torsion Cable... another great Video..
I saw that pliers on my Swisstool X have a little wobble when I fully unfold the tool, not more than half mm. I just notice that fact after 6 years, and im still wondering what might cause that wobble.
Thank you for the video, I made a similar comparison between this Victorinox Swisstool and the Leatherman Wave and cut a wire with a diameter of approx. 2.5 mm with the pliers. Conclusion: With the Victorinox Swisstool, the cut went through once and was as soft as butter and therefore without any problems (and this several times), but the pincer joint of the Leatherman Wave broke through on the first attempt and was unusable. I sent the Wave back and got an exchange product without any problems and I tested again ..., unfortunately the pincer joint of the Leatherman Wave broke again (also on the first try!) The poor quality of the Leatherman Wave put me off buying another Leatherman multitool. Therefore, despite this very good video, I am not convinced of any Leatherman multitool (not even the Surge). After this experience, I no longer have any confidence in Leatherman.
victorinox should really contact knipex and put their stuff in the pliers, those rock:) but funny to see your mangled swisstool still cutting better than the fabled cutters of leatherman>
haha great observation i never thought of it, but for long term definitely they use bolt cutters, a multitool is not designed for that type of hard work. a MT would maybe do the job 1 time and have it get dull

You can send Swisstool to Victorinox for pliers repare/ replacement…. Thank you for great and useful videos!
I own both and I find the Swisstool to be much more practical as well as far more refined and much better built than the Surge.
The attention to detail, smoothness, comfort of use and overall precision on the Swisstool is just second to none and unsurpassed by any other multitool I've tried so far.
Absolute winner for me: the Swisstool. 🥇
I repeat: FOR ME.
You can buy replacement cutters that still don't cut as well as an old Swiss Tool.
In my opinion, the wire cutters on multitools are for cutting stranded and solid wire up to 12 GA. And of course tie-wraps. Heavier wire and cables should be cut with side cutters.
@@MECCANICISTA082as if you know better 😂

why do i have the feeling that a victor from the 80's would last longer than one made now
Both are premium quality multi-tools
hi. i wonder if Swisstool can cut chainlink fence with no marks or deterioration. its basically 3 mm hardwire.
huge advantage for Surge with replaceable cutters. but most of us use multitools in emergency only and if i can use a cheaper multitool or a dedicated tool, i do so.
thanks for demonstration.
That’s for sure asking a lot from a multitool, but would still be fun to see. That why I keep a small pair of bolt cutters in the car just in case.
Yes, I just purchased a Surge for this reason. I wish Victorinox would have a swisstool with replaceable wire cutters, as I much prefer Victorinox quality and precision.
QUE BUEN VIDEO. ES UNO DE LOS POCOS CANALES QUE PONEN A PRUEBA REALES LAS HERRAMIENTAS. SALUDOS DE MONTE PATRIA CHILE.
I cut cables often on Garage Doors. .if I need to ..and tension is on springs..(Dangerous) I sometimes use tin snips for extend reach... Sometimes I use Grinder with cut off disk..if I am making Torsion Cable... another great Video..
Excellente vidéo, merci
Thank you for the video. I love the practice!
I saw that pliers on my Swisstool X have a little wobble when I fully unfold the tool, not more than half mm. I just notice that fact after 6 years, and im still wondering what might cause that wobble.
I expected that the Surge would clean cut the stranded wire easily from behind the plier head. Never tried mine like that.
Thankyou
if it is damaged just from a few tests then the quality is not there, maybe needs harder steel
I sent the Wave back and got an exchange product without any problems and I tested again ..., unfortunately the pincer joint of the Leatherman Wave broke again (also on the first try!)
The poor quality of the Leatherman Wave put me off buying another Leatherman multitool.
Therefore, despite this very good video, I am not convinced of any Leatherman multitool (not even the Surge).
After this experience, I no longer have any confidence in Leatherman.
Did you just say the JOINT of the leatherman broke? As in the pivot point on the plier head?
Or are you talking about the actual wire cutters?
What are the creatures making all the scary sounds in the background!!
Replaceable cutters on the surge.....leatherman wins hands down on this one
Victorinox 👑
Victorinox if you ever see this video please look at the Description thank you 🤞
victorinox should really contact knipex and put their stuff in the pliers, those rock:) but funny to see your mangled swisstool still cutting better than the fabled cutters of leatherman>
Victorinox 100%!!!!
VICTORINOX 👑👑👑👑👑👑👑
I still will go with the Surge!!
great, victorinox spirit is good, I sold my wave, victorinox spirit has everything and works fine.
5:40 the pliars missalign as you point out, imo for 150e unacceptable. My grandpa's pliers from the 50's have harder steel than these
The jaws are not misaligned, they are bent. This is normal when cutting such a cable. I would like to see your grandfather's pliers :)

It seems to me, that your swisstool is worn out...
Read description :)
👍
Love all the thieves in the comments looking to see what tool will cut through chain link fence.
A thief could use better tools than pocket pliers to cut through a fence.
haha great observation i never thought of it, but for long term definitely they use bolt cutters, a multitool is not designed for that type of hard work. a MT would maybe do the job 1 time and have it get dull

#diezelle57 amazing video 👏
Swisstool for me; smoothe operation and basec tools.
