That thing is AMAZING! Only Swamp thing I have in my collection is the DC Icons and it kinda looks like a zombie. I'm not much a fan of the character, but I would grab this piece just to appreciate it on my shelf. It reminds me of the old DC Collectibles deluxe figures that towered over everyone else.
I just got him, at last, and I love him! It's just I do agree with the idea of getting more of that brown or a darker color around. But it's a beautiful figure! It moves a lot better than I expected too but the forward crunch is surely missing since the head can't move that much and considering how tall he is. A complete review, man!
Such a great piece, I’m coming around to your thoughts on the broad traps, it’s definitely more iconic, I wonder how much Todd’s classic line is hindered by Rebirth designs. The good news is Swamp Thing grows and shifts so they can release a smaller more classic figure later. My fav detail is the Roses on his back shoulder. The thigh rotation is a tough nut to crack. I’ll always be dead against straight up thigh cuts, since in order to pull it off you have to give thighs an unnatural perfect cylinder shape so it doesn’t create huge cut blocks when you turn. On the one hand the sculpted butts allow no gaps with lifted leg poses keeping the curves of the rear unbroken, but then you sacrifice swivel when straight standing. Considering the human thigh doesn’t actually swivel that far at the hip it’s less of an issue, but what people really want is the knee and lower leg positions to swivel outward. Ironically it’s already been solved in the MK line with the ingenious double-hinged knee swivel joints, dunno what the hold up is bringing it to DC. Can’t wait to see your Lobo review 🤘
The Rebirth fixation seems like a corporate mandate, I can't imagine those being the preferred selections for the standard/classic versions of the characters. Thigh cuts are terrible. It's one of the worst places to put a break in the sculpt. It should be one of the longest unbroken sections of the figure, not cut in half in the spot where there are prominent muscles or fabric folds. They aren't going to be able to get rid of the inner leg gap under the pelvis, so if we lose a little extra but in there too I can live with that. It's still preferable to the huge gaps in barbell leg figures.
@@JoshFromBefore Agreed, adding a swivel to the longest strongest part of the human body is insane to me. It’s like adding a swivel mid-skull under the eyes so figures can look around. There’s a reason the most expensive companies like Mafex, Revoltech, Figma etc all never have thigh swivels, they’re unnecessary and as ugly as it comes.
Finally managed to get mine after months of waiting. My local Target had two and they were smart enough not to get the Platinum Edition that only figure customizers would want. I LOVE the figure! I've said it many times. The face might not be all that makes a figure, but it can break one. And Swamp Thing is spot on! I would have like to have seen more color variation in the figure. Some more noticeable browns for branches, and maybe some yellow and reddish brown thrown in there. Missed my chance for the awesome New 52 winged one. But, side note, I don't think there are enough figure customizers out there to justify releasing an unpainted artist proof as a variant when the opportunity is perfect to issue a cool repaint that maybe captures an older look. Ex: blue and grey Batman instead of black and grey, or the Gold Label Azrael they did. The Platinum Swamp Thing could've pulled from one of Swampy's more interesting Injustice 2 shaders. That game is a gold mine for alternate color palettes for Gold Label or Platinums. What a great opportunity to release alternate Lantern Corps versions of GL characters, reminiscent of War of the Green Lanterns.
Agree on the thigh articulation. I trim the butt off the leg sculpt for most of my McFarlane figures. Some have a gappy diaper so I leave those alone but for most it works. It’s such a simple mod.
That’s interesting, I’ve never needed the thigh twist extreme enough to carve out the butts but I’d love to see some examples. I’ve done the Dremel ab crunch mod on a few figures though since it’s always invisible.

I like the large size on him, how does it compare to the dc essentials swamp thing figure? I feel like this tramples it, I hope we get a man thing also
Just wondering. Has anyone else preorder this guy from Amazon just have him delayed. Then get him at a later date and he's the gray artist proof variant?
Yup happened to me and I was really disappointed. I don’t understand not having them be separate listings. I’m really worried about this since I’ve seen some people get the “platinum” editions of some of the dark knight returns line. Hope they change this practice cause I’m just gonna keep returning them..
I don't know, I think it's a cool figure but for me the price is not very attractive. I would have preferred a smaller, cheaper one, in the size range of Devastator.
This toy is pure eye candy. Loving it!
King Shark filled the box nicely.

A fantastic figure. Thanks for sharing. Another one for the list.
I completely agree with your point about crediting the artists
I waited a long time for mine, and I wasn’t disappointed. This is definitely my toy of the year. It could easily be a BAT.
what an amazing sculpt! I agree they deserve credit on the box.
this was the figure that got me into collecting the Mcfarlane DC stuff. (especially their mega figs)
I bought the new 52 antlers version, I'm excited to put him on my shelf.
Can’t seem to find him on Amazon to purchase?
The antlers version is only exclusive to GameStop
@@DR676767 just bought him thanks
That’s really awesome 😎 Swamp Thing figure!
I'm stoked for both versions of swamp thing
GameStop has Swamp Thing in stock and on sale right now for $33 and the GameStop exclusive Killing Joke Joker on sale for $16.
Awesome ordered mine

Wow! Had no idea Swamp Thing was that huge! Thought he was the same size as Darkseid. Absolutely beautiful sculpt work on him too! Tremendous figure!
He's huge, probably a little too big for Swamp Thing but I'm not going to complain about it lol
I remember seeing him that huge in the Batman animated movie with Harley Quinn and Nightwing.
I agree with you on the anatomy. Swampy should have had bigger trapezoids behind his neck and somewhat of a hunched back. Great review 👍.
Ayy homies got his own intro music now
Great review man. that fig looks dope
Thanks Nicolas
I can’t wait to get this guy
1:30 Yeah definitely, McFarlane should credit who are the artists involve in making these great figures. I mean Banpresto or Figma is doing it afaik
Nice new intro man!
Thanks!

GameStop had him for $33. Ofcourse I scooped him up. 👍🏻
That's like stealing. Good on ya man! 😁
Gonna touch mine up with some paint
A little bit would go a long way, he just needs a little bit more depth and contrast.
I would like to see a classic Doomsday with that size
Nice intro
Thanks!
I bought that same figure today at target 🎯
He’s awesome!!! I’m gonna sell me DC essentials Swamp Thing cause this one is so much nicer
Popeye would eat this Swamp Thing out of a tin can.

Wow are you confused him with Man Thing!? 🤷♂️ I think this captures Swampy perfectly. Tho my favorite is still DC Multiverse Con version!
Not Man Thing, I meant something closer to the old Bernie Wrightson artwork. But he's still awesome, one of the best Multiverse figures so far imo.
@@JoshFromBefore Yeh, you aren't going to get anything that cool from a mainstream toy company.
I bought both the Regular and GameStop Exclusive, but I might sell the GS version, I prefer the head on the Normal Release

A bit too big, but the best overall Swamp Thing made. Still waiting for that perfect classic Alan Moore Swamp Thing
Definitely a little too big but I'm not going to complain about it haha
I don’t think he’s too big
I feel like swamp thing should be Darkside size and he should be swamp thing sizs
I just bought 2 gamestop exclusive 3 jokers comedian joker out in the wild
Nice find!
What do u call those clear platforms your figures are standing on ( your detolf)so that they are elevated?
Those are acrylic risers, there are a lot of great options on Amazon
Great looking figure but I always thought Swamp Thing was the size of a tall human being. In the old 80's TV show he was just a tall man.
He can change his size. Check out the comics.
@@hulksmash8159 oh I didn't know that. I'm only familiar with the TV show swamp thing.

I think its great for the price but you should sign up for target circle you can get him for %25 percent off and free shipping.
Hopefully they can do one like that at some point in the future, Devastator size really is more accurate imo
For 20$ though (that how much i found it)he is 👌👌👌🔥
