Great review, as always! I cannot get over the size of this figure. Absolutely dwarfs the DCUC version. Can't wait to pick this up! My only other takeaway from this is how much I really hate the bio cards with the photograph of the toy you JUST BOUGHT. Bring back the cards with the comic book art already!
I think it became a cost thing. Each art work costs money and sometimes better to get have a bit more creative leeway for a better product. From what I heard DC is very conservative. You won't have full access to their library.
Looking back at the Mattel Swampthing reminds me of the nightmare days where neck movements were not something we can take for granted for action figures....
Absolutely love this figure. If they would have included the wings with the horn version I possibly would have wanted it because it's such a good mold but I don't have a connection to that design. What needs to be talked about is not knowing if you were getting the painted or artist proof version. Looks like the Dark Knight Returns figs is coming with that 50/50 chance of getting the artist proof versions again. I got lucky with the Swamp Thing but if that's going to continue my luck is sure to run out. It would just make me rethink pre-ording and hunt in stores again.😩
In the bio there is an error, “covered” is used twice. Also the origin is the classic one, are they ignoring the Alan Moore “Anatomy lesson” issue now?
The size was the only thing that made me not order him. I guess it's because I grew up with the live action films, TV series, and older comics. So to me Swamp Thing is bigger, but not a giant.
@@hulksmash8159 No I get that, but to me 7 to 8 foot was the size I personally liked. He's a fantastic figure. The size just put me off. If he stood the same height as that Lobo that just released, I would have pre-ordered hum in a second.
Okay, but did you read all of the New 52 Swamp Thing title? Scott Snyder's great horror epic, and then Charles Soule's awesome world building leading to a war of avatars? It was fantastic! I don't know why they're calling this figure a "Rebirth" Swamp Thing considering he hasn't had a solo series since his New 52 one was cancelled, barring that one miniseries one story arc by Wein and Jones. His appearance is straight up Jesus Saiz style from Soule's run. That's Swampy from The Killing Fields or The Sureen if I ever saw it!! And I finally managed to get one of these bad boys. My local Target had two. At least they weren't that dumb artist proof one. I'm sure action figure customizers would be screaming at me for saying that. Why release an unpainted version for a niche of a niche market when a game like Injustice 2 gives so many color palette options for characters? Also, thanks for the posing ideas. I have one of my Hazmat Batmans and my TSS Poka Dot Man on both their knees. Really makes them stand out on the shelves.

anyone have this figure and it is not as vibrant a green as seen in other reviews online? Mine is dull and seems like they skimped on the paint since, i believe, the plastic alone is gray.
Considering he's a deluxe/ mega fig his package is so empty. I got mine and I was just disappointed. The spike hand is dumb. I feel like the stand should of also been alot bigger. I loved the figure out of the box but he's to big. And my other issue is the feet. McFarlane needs to improve ankle/feet articulation for his bigger figures. Plus some alternate fist hands would of been great considering just how damn empty his box is. Just paying for scale is nonsense to me. Alot of the plants could of used better paint variation. The sculpt is amazing but it's not painted to showcase any of the details. Its frustrating because there's a great figure here that with some tweaking and way more paint could go from really mediocre to insanely great. McFarlane desperately needs to ditch the diaper as well. He just needs to improve in alot of areas moving forward. At least give us the alternate heads. I don't see anything to justify the extra price point other then his size. Overall I would say he's the best DC figure he's done so far but that's not saying much because so many of the figures in this line are crap.
Not bad in being able to point out areas in need of improvement, but I have to ask: if you really think almost all of McFarlane's DC figures are crap, then what justifies a great action figure for $40 or less to YOU?
This is definitely my favorite of the year, 2021. They could’ve easily made him a collector build, but they didn’t.
Just think back 2 yrs…could you imagine Mattel doing this? Or ANY of the stuff Todd’s done so far? Todd’s absolutely crushing it

I feel Todd started to veer away from showing the comic book art on the cards when he started to go with his own 'interpretations' of the characters 🙌

I just generally assume that there will be errors from time to time because Todd isn't a huge DC guy.
