Anyway Shawn, I'm a big fan! I got really sick unexpectedly and am pretty much bedridden 18 hours a day. (Long story) I had to sell my collection of 23 guitars including 3 Les Pauls. One of which I had made to my secs at the Gibson Custom Shop just to keep a roof over my head until my SS Disability case got approved (2 1/2 year wait) I quickly had to get off of my "guitar snob" kick but was so pleasantly surprised to find out that you REALLY COULD FIND A PLAYABLE, GOOD SOUNDING GUITAR FOR UNDER $300.00! So you and Cathy always put a smile on my face no matter how much pain I'm in and I look forward to seeing new posts from you when they come out.

Found you by accident and this turned into my favorite guitar channel. Already made me feel like I can do half this maintenance/repair stuff by myself, and to quit worrying about the name on the headstock. Appreciate that.
That’s not how I use my fret erasers, I go over each fret lengthwise in three ascending grits, 220, 800, 2000, and the frets come up like mirrors. Takes a little bit of effort but if you’re gonna be playing it, it’s well worth the effort.
The channel is growing nicely now, 100k by the end of ‘24 I predict. Happy to be lip-flappin’ since it was only 9k or so.

Probably an unbranded Epi from the same factory in China. Good find!
I picked up a classic sunburst Firebird with mini humbuckers from China for under $250. It's got a Richlite fretboard and aside from the mini potentiometers, there is not one thing substandard on this guitar. The switch is stamped Epiphone and the neck has a scarf joint, but it is a great toy, not sure I'd use it on a gig since it tends to squeal at high volume, but though an Orange amp it sounds fantastic.

I been following your channel for a little while now and I love it. You've inspired me to work on my own guitar and other people's as well. I really haven't dove deep into any yet but I will soon on my own. I'm really thinking of converting my squire strat into a hardtail and HH set up. My only issue with a strat style guitar is the placement of the top volume knob. I have a habit of rolling my volume off unintentionally while playing. I would also like to polish the frets and swap out the cheap tuners with some quality lockers. So far all I've done to one is adjust the neck, the bridge, the pickups and intonate. I would really appreciate any advice you could give me on what kind of hardware to use and the correct way to make it a hardtail. Thanks in advance and I will keep watching and learning from you. Keep doing what you do from a Georgia fan

I love firebird pickups, have a couple of Lollar's in a Shijie Telecaster (TLV Classic P-90), replaced the P-90 pickups that were excellent. The pickups on my Epiphone Firebird, which is built just like the Gibson version (similar anyways), with a neck-through, and real Firebird pickups that SOUND like it. I paid about twice as much as this Firebird not on amazon cost, I wonder how they would compare? Maybe with Cathy's pickups the Epi would wilt...? Of course we are talking about humbuckers vs Firebird pickups, which are more like a fat single-coil sound, so it would be a dual to the end of love.............!

I remember those first Applause acoustics. They had cast aluminum fretboards, frets, support rod and all cast right in. They finished it black to look like ebony. The neck and headstock were one piece composite, also finished to look wood. Never did get one but they were real durable, had a unique sound and very affordable, so I kinda wanted one in those days.

That is a Chibson- I saw the Firebird logo and the Gibson sticker at 2:52 when you opened the box. I think they leave those stickers under there to get it through customs, then you decide if you want to use the stickers or not. I had a real 2019 Gibson Firebird previously and I ordered that exact guitar in gold and it was the same packaging, with the stickers under the guitar like yours.
The image I saw of it on Ebay was a bolt-on neck, which I thought was fine for $200. But it came neck through! It's remarkably similar to my real Firebird. They must have the templates from Epiphone. Like it or not the builders in China are doing great work these days, for a 90% lower price. The only thing is, they are not doing the walnut stripe through the body over there. But you can only see that if it's a burst anyway.
Got a kit guitar recently. Both the bridge and stop piece were epiphone with the logo slightly scratched off.

That’s a home run for me! I love a Firebird style guitar, and WHaT!? How does she do it???? The pickups are fat and spanky at the same time… great single coil tone and full humbucker tone too. I always thought that a humbucker that holds its own when coil split is the mark of a truly high quality pickup build. All this, and you are in the Sunshine State too? I am a St. Pete guy and I love it here. You may be high in the running for “luckiest man alive” with me.
By the way, you were on the Selman Expressway there - it’s all beautified for tourists. The Gandy is the old bridge across Tampa Bay that connects Tampa and St. Pete. If you stay on the Selman long enough heading west out of Tampa you end up on the Gandy bridge
