Josh has a new video up demoing The Reaper! He plays his way better than i do!!

Affinity over the Sonic series in Fender, the company spends more on QC on better brand, only get the 2/3 model Bullet/Sonic model.
First! 🤣🤣🤣 Only dummies don’t hit the free like and subscribe button on great videos!
the change of pole pieces in the pickup was something I never thought about and never seen anyone doing it... super!
We appreciate you and Cathy sharing your experience and knowledge with us, thank you!
I can't help but notice that beautiful LEFT handed hollowbody behind you, nice to see some Lefty love as I'm a lefty and a Big fan of your channel and your work, awesome stuff Man, love it!!!
When I saw you singing I cracked up... For a second I was thinking that you was putting out a full song.
I'm still early in the video...and to me those stock pickups sounds REALLY good.
They are! That's why I knew a magnet change was a good choice. It warmed them right up.
@@scarmyguitar they sound gooder after magnet swap
Hi there i really enjoy your videos, iam not a musician myself but I love the fact you get this cheap guitars and make him sound better so clever...cheers Phil from Newark on trent here in the UK
Thanks for weighing it for us, I'm gonna grab one... Your are the first I have seen change pickup magnets...I really enjoy you breaking things down and helping us realize how simple all this can be...
It's amazing what you get for $100. It seemed pretty good right out of the box.
Leo Fender employed the "3-Saddle Bridge" design on his (original) BROADCASTER. This was NOT an accident. There was method to his madness.
The unmistakable, unique "Telecaster Tone," which cuts through any mix and some folks have described as "an icepick to the forehead," emanates from the bridge pickup which sits right below the strings at their shortest distance from the bridge. Two strings share each saddle of the bridge.
When one of the strings is plucked, its' "partner string" on the same saddle, vibrates "sympathetically" with the 1st string creating sonic harmonics that NO OTHER GUITAR IN THE WORLD can produce.
I paid $1, 500.00 for a brand-new American Fender Telecaster in the 90's and was disappointed to see that they had switched to a "6-Saddle Bridge" design. ☹
Damn! That thing looks great for $99 dollars!
I just gotta say it. I was 16 in 1998, and i worked all summer long at a truckstop, washing trucks and whatnot...i saved my money and 700$ cash later i bought a brand spanking new Candy Apple Red American Standard Tele. Its the best guitar in the whole damn world and nothing can beat it. (I exaggerate ofcourse) ...but, i still have her and shes awesome!❤
Lux as in Deluxe, without the “De” or the “e”

I just watched his vid and he rocked it and I loved the reaction of everyone who played the Reaper and loved how well they accepted it a a well made and designed guitar Kudos to you and The Reaper
Very impressed at the quick, nonchalant magnets swap to genuine Alnico 5's. I've just replaced the entire pickups in the past. The Tele neck pickup cover removal reminded me of my first genuine Tele I bought used in early 1986. It was my first professional grade electric guitar, an early 70's Fender Telecaster. The original pickups were microphonic with weak output. I intended to wax pot them, as I had successfully done other pickups. I mistakenly raked those metal tabs of the neck pickup cover across the wire windings. That ruined the pickup and was only fixable with a coil rewind. Through most of the eighties Semie Moseley had his Mosrite guitar manufacturing shop local to me in Burke County NC. I contacted Semie and took that Tele neck pickup to him to rewind. Never actually got the pickup back, but it was cool to visit his shop then in 1986, and two more times the following year.
That ending was awesome 😂 Great video Sean. Would you be interested in doing a vid of a neck repair on a Dean Stealth? It's a hardtail. No Floyd or anything. Just thought it might be a cool video 🙂
Wow man!!! You surprice me !! Nice playing and vocals
Caught josh's demo of the reaper... awesome that everyone loves it! Hey Sean, I know you don't like Glarry but could you do a video on the GIZ-102, it's a set neck version of an Ibanez AX series. I think you're going to enjoy this one. Trogly likes it. Giggity
I probably should have gotten one of these instead of my Squire Affinity and upgraded it. But, I had no idea about how to do these things until I started watching your channel. I'm so grateful for all you've taught me with the videos. You have a lifelong viewer, member, and friend in me.
Glad I could help!
Hey Shaun, is there any time frame 9n the new super strats, 8m 8nterested in purple
I’m loving your videos. Luthiery is magical and kudos on your nice hat;o)
Thank you kindly!
Whoa Nelly, Watch out Fender,, $99 Guitar , And Mr. Scar doing simple Upgrades, And Tweeking, It A Bit, This Guitar Plays Great, Thanks for this Video here, Cousin Figel
I actually like that and the blonde neck is different but suits that color on the body
No Kathy Klassic pickups? I got a Lyx pro amp and it sound great. The case is soft pine and dings easy but it still sounds good.
Sorry, I bought an Affinity Tele, butterscotch, maple neck, new, 1/4” crack @ the neck pocket for $80.00
Hey Sean, love these videos. And man, you were rocking using those jamming tracks...and you sing dude killer. I'd love to see a video of you going over the amp or software you use and what speakers if you're using a program that goes through your computer. Awesome videos man. I really appreciate all you and Kathy do for us viewers on your channel
Gotta get me a set of those universal wrenches for the "Pickle Bag" I keep in my truck (in case I get in a pickle).
I've seen a lot of attempts at universal wrenches but those have thin enough sides to actually be useful.
Both QVC and Bed Bath and Beyond are selling the LyxPro, so it must be good. Great vid, don't think I want a Tele.
Is this what you use? Schatten Magnet Polarity Tester
Other than the finish on the back of the neck, I like it. All those upgrades are what I do on a kit anyway.
@SCAR MY GUITAR I love your channel and when I love something I let everyone know about it. I'm the same way about parts, and I know you'll be glad to know about these guys, they're right up your alley philosophically. I'm not affiliated , just a happy fellow Ohioan customer. *The Boot Strap Pickups* company in Mt Giliad, Ohio produce insanely good sounding pickups that are custom wound and OEM pickups. I happen to have a set of Boot Strap Original Recipe '51 Telecaster pickups that would be well over 200 bucks anywhere else. I have no idea how he makes a set for 50, but that leaves more money left to spend on your Scar Guitar.
Something happened and my UA-cam got all small on me. I watched you on another browser (same computer) Anyway, I was wondering if getting all new pickups (about $40 more, approx.) would be worth it (Fleor or others)
Awesome upgrade / set-up once again. The headstock is a deal breaker for me, i must admit. Hypothetically speaking could you potentially add wood to the headstock in order to give it a more user "fenderly" shape?
I bought the tonally modded electronics from pro_tones for my telle. It took a while for them to get to me. But they work pretty good man. Push pull 5 way switch it's loaded. And some guitar madness double humbuckers. Wich I bought before Kathy started making hers or I would have some scared pick ups. Love both of your guys shows. Keep on rocking brother!
Great video Sean. The guitar sounds good after the upgrades. Keep up the good work, as your videos help the ones of us who cannot afford the out of this world expensive higher end guitars, but can afford to make some upgrades on the much less expensive lower end guitars and still end up with something to enjoy playing.
That is some really thin metal on that bridge. Wonder how a thicker metal, solid steel bridge would change the tone.
Yea, boy! Love the singing.
I have one. A Lyx Pro. The sea foam green one. Yes they require some TLC but with good tuners, bone nut, brass saddles and good pickups it sets up nice and plays great.
I'm not gigging anymore but I'd take mine out any time.
Nice too
Dude, I'have been really enjoying these videos. Thank you and Mrs. Scar.
I just picked up the Strat version of LyxPro. I did so to follow your guidance and upgrade or improve it a bit.
Neck pocket puts that squier to shame.
I wanna hear the rest of the song hahah!!!
Sean we want more of that song!!!
Been tellin' people that forever & a day, "Turn your phone sideways! Don't want no up & down stuff!" 🤣😂🤣
They are the few Amazons that make a lefty. I sort of requested Sean do this one.
Speaking of lefty’s, Sean do I see a lefty on the wall behind you? Simi hollow?
Cool vid, have you considered replacing the ceramic magnets with neodymium bar magnets?
They are closer to alnico 2 sound, but have much greater gauss.
Hey did he just say Daisy Dukes. 🥰😍🔥. Woo hoo 😅😅. Good video. Once again. Definitely one of those id mod too. Ok no more flip flapping 🤣🤣. Peace out ✌️✌️🎸🎸
Yeah, I bought a lefthanded G style and the only thing originals the body in the neck
I recently got a Lyx Pro tele instead of a firefly FFSP yellow bat, so I made a stink and ended up gettting the Lyx Pro for $46 CDN. I just ordered a cheap hot rail for the bridge and a proper tele neck for it, and I’ll probably replace the neck pup too but for now it’s just gonna be the proper tele neck and the bridge pup. I don’t hate the machines on it but may replace them later on.
Sean’s land of cheap guitar mod God squad. You should’ve drilled right through for the strings.
Great job Shawn. Fun to watch❤😊
Nice soldering man...respect.
Very cool, and love the video, but I have $100 guitars I got used, Schecters, Ibanez, Epiphone... which were already pretty damn good. That said, it is very educational to watch videos like this. Thanks man!
Obviously those pickups are not wax potted..
Have you ever done a twin Humbucker string through 7.25 neck Tele. 25.5 scale length.?
Bill send me the guitar and all the parts you have for it and I'll put it together and hook it up for you.
@@scarmyguitar Thank you sir. I am looking for a good Tele knockoff for this. Sean you are such a good person and I really appreciate everything you do. All of your content, your ideas that turn sows ears into great instruments and you teach us how to do it. I really wish my physical limitations didn’t get in the way. I love music and I love to play it. All the years I spent working like a dog cost me the ability to do things that I really wanted. Thank you and I will get everything I can to get this done!
I think these are the best deal for beginners. Good guitars after a little work. The bridge pickup actually sound really good after waxing it
Wow, what a difference in magnets
I had no idea you could remove the ceramic magnet(s), and put in Alnico pole pieces.
Good to know!
It is NOT always advisable though. It’s only safe to do in cases where the coil is wrapped around a solid bobbin. In many vintage pickups, however, the coil wire is actually wrapped directly around the magnetic pole pieces, and hammering the pole pieces in/out that way can potentially snag the coil wire and break it. Of course, if you have vintage pickups, chances are you already have AlNiCo magnets, but it’s still good to be aware, as I’ve also heard of people damaging their pickup coils by trying to flatten out staggered pole pieces on a vintage Strat, for example. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
Great video Sean.
artec pickups would cure the microphonics and sound good and are cheap.
You can always tell when a guitars neck is Canadian maple because it apologizes a lot!,, ;)
You're gonna get bonked on the head again if ya don't stay away from those railroad tracks. 🤪
You da man, Shawn!
Good deal. You could dip those pickups in your crock pot. Yeah I kinda been bummin' on the Squiers lately. With the guitars u can get on Amazon these days there's no reason to buy a Squier. Josh's Reaper video was cool by the way. \m/
If you will sand a spot on the pots the solder will stick better. That coating is an issue. Super video..
Question ; is your Saturday night live a pay to see ? I tried watching it last night but it wasn't on your channel. Thanks, Tim
That looks and sounds awesome Sean! What type of capacitor do you recommend for this mod?
Am I on hilllbilly central?
You sure are
Shielding paint
_First!_ Ive got a Squire tele that I like. Like to get one of yours, set up etc 🎸6:11 Sean jams out!
To be quite honest, it doesn't take much to kill a Squire Strat.
Why do you clean the trash fom the neck pocket? It adds sustain.
For 99 dollars! For me and my playing, not bad at all.
Hey man! Another awesome video! I'm new to guitar, and want to learn the song you teased us with. "I saw you sitting by the railroad tracks you had your daisy dukes on and your hair pulled back", what's the name of that song? If it's your original, can I have the tabs and chords for it? Killer blues, southern rock, and old school vibe. I'm digging it! Thanks man!
Another good guitar made better. Dip those pickups in a hot wax bath & microphonic goes away ?
My God, you did it on this one.
Love it Sean.... you are the guitar whisperer 🫡
I Must of Bumped My Head, Did I Miss Anything ??? 🤕🤕🤕

Sean (or Shawn, don't know HTF you spell yer dam name), I'm so glad i found your channel!
A man after my own heart!
I couldn't (and wouldn't) GAF if my gee-tar is scarred or not.
I care how it sounds, and how it plays! (I do like it to feel nice in mah haynds.)
I also need one that doesn't weigh 4000 lbs, cuzza my neck pro'lems.
You've opened my eyes to some budget, idjut possibilities, dude!
Thanks ya!
Yo. 👍 👌 🤪

Awesome video Sean. I have been on the fence, looking at several inexpensive China LEFTY electric guitars to do upgrades to make it a decent player. I have learned much from your channel and view all the videos I can through U-tube non - subscription. I am using a lefty acoustic dreadnought due to missing fingers on my left hand, so I pick with my left and cord right. I'm not the best by a long shot but I try. I been thinking about the Lyx-pro as I have heard had a better neck to start with.
For me I would do the drill through body, as I have a good drill press. I would likely replace the pick-ups and go to a bone nutt and locking tuners. I have most of the tools to do the guitar. I would video my progress and try to make it a viewable quality with my old Motorola phone.
Playing clean and no n microphonic is what I like.
Your absolutely right about Gibson and Fender in their quality leaves much to be desired and you too much for what you get. ( Lousy value); and these companies did it to themselves. Thanks for your videos and your helping more people than you will ever know. 73 GOD bless; Earnest K5EWM.👍
Hey Sean, I had the telly just like that one. I sold it but not for any wrong reasons.I didn't know if I was gonna do any gigging for a while. And It went to a very good home they were pleasantly pleased. But I put chicken head knobs For tone and volume and it looked great! Just for looks and a change of pace. Anyway, the only thing that was wrong with it was the fact that the lead pick up was not hooked up.I had to solder it up myself.Literally nothing when you rolled the volume. But once I did that I put earnie ball super slinky's on it and it sounded Great! It was called, 'and you know what This means', an open box deal. It was 80 bucks, no shipping! Hell of a deal! Anyway, love what you did with it. And they are great guitars in my mind! Rock on Mr. Shagnastys! 👍🤘🏻🎸😉
That “Reaper” of yours is really quite a handsome design!!! Will there be more of them?!? I don’t know how I missed the fact that it’s a combination of SG and LP designs-that’s very much like what Kurt Cobain did, combining the Jaguar and Mustang into the Fender Jag-Stang!
Awesome video and upgrade Sean. Man you have some licks on guitar. Always enjoy watching your channel.
Cool video. Fun to watch. If you keep making them Ill watching them
What the name on the polarity checker
Nice, I have assorted holder downers
I got one the Cozart Esquire clones. It's shaping up to be an amazing instrument. Your videos have been really helpful with my project.
I got 2 of the Lyx Strat copies and am selling one and keeping one. They are both 'good enough' once set up with better tuning machines and especially if you can get some pickups you like better.
You are the best , I enjoy every one and look forward to seeing the next.Would dipping them in the wax treatment stop the microphonics? I know the pups can be replaced but I find the pole pieces and Alnico magnet upgrade very interesting.Keep up the good work bro
Question good sir,
Do you feel that shielding isn't necessarily, Either copper tape or shielding paint?
Nice, you show how a little work goes a long way with these inexpensive models. Can't wait to see the Fender they sent you. Josh's video was really cool, your guitar received much deserved acclaim, but you already knew that. Thanks for another fine video.
Never would have thought that was a 100 buck guitar. You got a winner, Sean.
Those full size pots kick ass! What would you do for a bridge to put two humbuckers in one! I love Teles.
What causes a guitar to be micro phonic? Bad wire. Lack of shielding?
My les Paul epi is on its 3rd set of pick ups, it got marks but I call it reliking? I love each and every mark n wear n tear on it! It's my go to guitar!
Cool vid! Probably the closest I'd ever get to a Blackguard Tele.
Very informative and I thought it was interesting with the bridge set-up and replacing the magnets in the pickups. I have wondered if there are better switches that fit those imported telecasters and I was surprised that the larger pots were able to fit.
