Thank you, Sir, Shai Reshef, for bringing us this chance to improve our lives. I am a proud recipient of you and the University of the People's benevolence. I wish you the best and happiness.
Wow! This is impressive. I am so excited about this University. I have been so frustrated with the cost of traditional universities; information is so easy to access in this age of technology, obtaining a degree should be affordable. I hope that employers look at these degrees positively.
Thanks for the kind words Kristi! 😊 Our UoPeople graduates go on to work at places like IBM, Microsoft, Apple and more! Find out more about what our alumni are up to here: www.uopeople.edu/about/partners/corporate-employers/ 💜
Hi Silvia, thanks for commenting on this. Keep in mind that we do not offer a Bachelor's degree in Education: we offer a Master's of Advanced Teaching (M.Ed.) program.
My bad, I had misunderstood the Ed for Education because that's what we use in Kenya. Thanks for the clarification. And keep doing the great work, can't wait to start my classes.
Hi Demontae, if you already started your online application, please send an email to your admissions advisor or to admissions@uopeople.edu to request a grant to assist you with the application fee.
This is all nice but It's too bad that your degree in computer science aren't accredited by the association that accredits computer science degrees. To make sure I get a job, I would have to pay a lot of money for an accredited degree.
Hi there, please note that all our programs (including our Computer Science program) are accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission. The Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC) is listed by the U.S. Department of Education as a recognized accrediting agency. We have not pursued accreditation in any other country - that said, in many countries, being accredited in the U.S. means that it is highly respected. Please visit the US Department of Education university search link below and type ‘University of the People’ into the Name of Institution field and click the search button to confirm our accreditation status: ope.ed.gov/accreditation/Search.aspx Alternatively, please visit directorysearch.deac.org/school/detail.aspx?schoolid=73 to verify.
@@uopeople thank you for your response, however, I should have been a little more specific. The degree is not accredited by the ABET, which if you don't know, is necessary for degrees in engineering, computer science and engineering technology. Without this accreditation, it's going to be hard for your students to attain jobs in the US and abroad, especially if and when they are competing against others who have degrees that are ABET accredited. I really like the disruption that you are making in the education system, however, you need to get your computer science degrees ABET accredited or prove that it's pointless to have that kind of accreditation. I await your response to my reply, thank you.
@@RunOs3 , we appreciate your clarification, and it is not our opinion that any accreditation or body is pointless. We do not have ABET accreditation for our Computer Science program at this time, that said, our students can still compete favorably in the job market judging by the fact that many of our students have jobs in the industry after graduating from our Computer Science program. By checking our website www.uopeople.edu/about/partners/corporate-employers/ you’ll find that many of our students and graduates work at top international companies such as IBM, Apple, Dell, Microsoft, Amazon, and even organizations like the United Nations. Honestly, you don't need a degree at all to get a job in CS, so let's get that straight first. As a student, I would say hedge your bets, learn on your own and in class, build a portfolio, market yourself. Many CS students who graduate may struggle until they can prove to an employer that they know what they know and be able to show them that, not just say they know it. And, for the 30% of jobs that require a Bachelor's Degree to be considered for the position, then guess what, you'd have that box checked. Not everything is cut and dry, but it's what you make out of it.
@@SamanthaIreneYTube This is true. Most good managers want to know how efficient you are at providing solutions to their problems and not that you have an accredited paper. A computer science degree doesn't mean that you are a good programmer for example. It could mean that you would have worked to pass those classes and know a bit about it, but to be a good programmer, you have to constantly work at it and program. So all you have to do is do your degree and continue working on projects etc that will prove you are more than just a paper.
Hi Bradlee, kindly note that the acceptability of the degree you earn at University of the People is at the complete discretion of the employer you present the degree to for employment purposes. If you are considering a particular career or if you are interested in getting a particular job at a particular company/organization, you may want to research whether UoPeople's program offerings will help you to meet your professional goals.
