The conference will take place at Lake Guntersville State Park Lodge and Conference Center from March 14-16, 2024 on the theme: The Eighth Oecumenical Council: The Catholic Condemnation of the Filioque. The conference speakers will explore the history, ecumenicity, decisions, and significance of the Council especially with respect to the Great Schism. At the heart of this conference will be an Athonite-style vigil for the Feast of the Eighth Oecumenical Council. A rare gathering and an exceptional opportunity you won’t want to miss!

I hear this saying alot, " in our times" ....Christ doesn't change, his words speak the same no matter where in our time we are in.
In our times, means the deterioration of our faith in Christ, our apostasy from His Holy Will, which is worse than the times of Sodom and Gomorrah.
Jesus Christ Our Lord and Savior is the same yesterday, today and forever.
Pray for my antiochian parish I see a lot of good and alot of not so good ways in my parish

Some of what Constantine Zalas said about brought to mind something in jest but serious that came to me the last few days - you know that ‘idealistic’ song that goes “This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius, Age of Aquarius . . . “ Of course they are misled and I think it should really go “This is the dawning of the Age of the Antichrist, Age of the Antichrist”!

I am interested in joining a parish near me, but I am not sure which one I should attend. I am afraid, as having been apart of the Protestant world and before that into new age philosophies, of being deceived once more. I want to be apart of the true Church. Do I just attend any Orthodox Church and go from there?
Visit, and visit others nearby, if they exist, and take your time, praying to God for guidance and enlightenment, and consulting whoever you are able, either in person or via online communities, to learn more about what to look for, etc.
But you have to make that first step. Don’t worry. Just pray.

The background music playing while speaking is very makes it difficult to understand the speaker. It should be softly played without muffling the speaker.
Is western orthodox the same as Eastern orthodox? I go to a pentecostal Church at the moment and im debating converting to orthodox but they only have a western orthodox near me. Its seem traditional but im wondering if it has the same values of the Eastern orthodox.
It is an attempt to redeem and save the rite and unite it to Orthodoxy.
They are in the communion of the Church but the rite - the hymns and prayers - that are said are not the same as the rest of the Church.
Go and see and also go and visit at least once at another church even if it is far away

Why aren’t the Orthodox women wearing head coverings? That’s traditional.
Outside of Church they generally don't, but they should. It's best to look at ourselves though brother

@@xAzurasKnightx it’s mainly in the Russia or Ukrainian Orthodox churches women wear head coverings. You won’t find women wearing head coverings in the Greek Orthodox Church. It depends on the Orthodox church.

@michaelbarber5633 ...the seven churches are a road map of church history and Satan's seat is part of the church including the Church of Rome which was the most corrupt with Satan's pagan beliefs and still are.
The Roman Catholic church grew out of the autocephalos Roman church a millennia ago after it left the whole Church and then it spawned the English and Western Reformations which carried more heresies and schism.
@LadyMaria ...the story of the seven churches is twofold. First, it shows us that even in John's Day, these churches had issues. Secondly, it's describing the Church throughout time to the present day, and the church throughout history also hed these issues, including Satan making his seat in the Church. We are I the age of the Church of Laodicea. The church is Lukewarm, rich, don't need a thing, but it's wretched, pitiful, poor in spirituality, blind to the truth, and naked no truth in it. Rich in material things (Papacy) spiritually poor and pitiful, this church is a church filled with pride of wealth and self deceived hypocrites. Remind you of a church that's materially wealth, that are spiritually naked and blind?
