I love this segment of this show. Brings back so many memories. I remember being at a radar run on raven lake in Dorset. Many of the big gun performance dealers were there. Arnies cat house. With a highly modified t cat. Prentice Barry with a Mach z.. Not sure of the owner/dealer with a vmax 4 with bender racing mods on it. And a few people with Polaris mod sleds. All day they would make a run then the others would work on there sleds. To try and beat it. But one sled came late to the run. And did one pass and blew all of them away. A v max 4 with a turbo on it. It was funny it made its pass then left. All the hoods came up and every one of those sleds that I mentioned worked hard to beat that speed run. And know one could beat it. That day I will never forget.
The late 90's were some amazing times to be into sledding. The tech that was coming out then was game changing for the future of the industry. The 90's brought us a stock 160HP snowmobile. It was so much more HP at the time than anyone was used to.
Pops still has his xcr 800 triple with htg pipes, carbs ect. That thing is an absolute blast to ride. But the new 850 matryx puts bus lengths on it until 110 mph. the triple keeps pulling after 120 mph.
Awsome segment, just getting back into sledding at 54 years young. My awesomely new to me 2003 yamaha rx1 has me pumped. Would love to try in on the ice with a radar gun.
amazing video. About to freshen up a mach z i just got for 1000 bucks. Shes a runner but she needs good carb clean and some new plugs she should be good
Love my snowmobiling,... but.... our winters are getting shorter along with seat time and now another large increase in sled registrations for 2021/22 and the cost of a new sleds are through the roof makes me wonder if we will price this sport out of business with mother nature helping out with more no snow winters. 😥
So we just put a new set of Wiseco pistons in the Skuz, which means we are looking forward to ice on the lake to find out if we’ve improved the old sled. BUT the Skuz Z never fails to fail!
Gerhard Karpeks skids are phenomenal in the ZX Chassis. You have to do bolt checks on that Yamaha hahaha when out riding??? My buddy spent more time loctiting and tightening everything more than riding. I'll take my big displacement twins. The Crank Shop will wake that triple back up!!!
Yay! new season of STV! Your next destination should be the west coast of Newfoundland. P.S. I use a 5' length of 300# test monofilm fishing line to remove exhaust springs. It works really well in the tight spaces of newer sleds without a clamshell hood and takes up next to no space so it's easy to take along on the trail
You guys need to do a big iron shoot out every year. Not just triples big twins vmax 4s .... would be alot of fun. Those xcrs need traction they like to spin
I had a 1996 mach Z ski doo recalled the engine I received a brand new engine I wish I still had that machine. I hit a big rock that I couldn’t see off trail broke the belly pan into a few places it was a cold walk home. I sold it for parts. Like I said I wish I still had her in the shed.
This puts into perspective the state of tune and effort required to get the most out of an old sled and how ridiculous all the forum bench racing posts are: "my sled does 115mph on the gun" "my SRX runs with Mach Z's and T-cats." yeah....sure it does.🙄
depending on how the radar gun is being held can give a random or inconsistent readings. all big 4 sleds could be a tuners race vs a simple brand vs brand. if you show up to a race thinking you have more hp so you have the race, you might be disappointed. radar running is a game of efficiency, million little things to make mph. You should come talk to Harvey Otremba about his 118 mph stock mach z in 1000 feet.
The SRX is getting tired. It’s out almost every day on the lake when the young lad takes it ice fishing after school! But it’s getting worse and worse. We will get it fixed tho!
Says "if the track would've come out the back I would've lost my brakes and carried me to the wreck" Then admittedly puts in a track in similar shape. Wtf man?
Yamaha gave up when they came back with that horrible trailing arm junk,The older Yamahas had fit and finish that would still put most manufacturers today to shame!! The original Srx with the telescopic front suspension looked like Darth Vader came to Earth !!
Umm your right about the looks but the SRX came out to the pubic as a race machine in 1976, then in 78 they made it more of a lake racer and so on. The Yamahas with the trailing arm suspension have just as much good fit and finish as always and maybe a bit more.

GEARS FOR THE DOO!!! Will win it.. It has plenty of motor, not high enough gear! Baby steps!
i hope these type trends become the regular.buying old sleds and restoring/ tuning them.this was the best.

The exhaust valve was first made on the original Ski Doo Mach 1. That's why they are legendary.
Nice way to start a new season ! Looking forward to this years content.
gonna be a fine collection w ,,, i ride an srx,,, but always wanted a t cat
Nothing better than the top dog muscled sleds in one place! I hope to put a similar collection together
Thats what I remember about triples, problems and looking for gas stations all the time.
Catching up on older content, dig the whole bit on the 108 mph. Excellent stuff Jeff!

Fantastic episodes, need more wrenching videos like these in the coming seasons!
BTW Arctic cat had a the first verified 100mph sled back in 1980 or 81. Stock but well prepped Eltigre 6000 which I believe was 500cc.
Great segment. Triple cylinder symphony singing down the lake. Please continue these episodes on STV.
Rich is in the shop doing a full tear down, port, polish, big bore kit, and all the clutching magic going on already lol. Look what u started.

You can be one of my buds anytime got your back.
Decker pipes, top notch in the biz in the day. Those guys always tinkered and developed their own stuff. Especially exhaust.

Love the two strokes I got my first triple 2003 viper
Old iron makes me laugh when I say that I’m talking about my machines from the 70s 😂😂😂
Oh boy here we go baby!!!!!
Reminds me of my old 98' Mach 1 700 ... Good times.
Yay! new season of STV!

Can I put my Houle in the race this year , it's only got some work done by the crank shop and legend George Sherrard 😉 Basically stock 🤔
Super stoked seeing this post Jeff and Crue, thanks!
I had my track shoot right out the back of my 1990 Mach 1 while doing a speed run next to my brothers 1990 Indy 650.
Cadillac Michigan
"RPMs were all over the place", didn't you replace the belt ?
Heck no! Lol. I didn’t have a new belt to change it. I’m actually surprised it didn’t blow. It’s hourglassed like crazy
A quick track swap from one of the other sleds would have been cool
Great show! Are you gonna give the lovely SRX a tune up this year? PLEASE
Moar triple content!!!
Cant wait, LET IT SNOW!!!!

Sparkalators!. VGG!

Very entertaining video, thanks

Polaris's always seem to go faster on cold days 🇨🇦👍🥶
Take off the car hart jumpsuits 😂😂😂😂 prob do 110 mph
Reverse on an srx ? It came stock with no reverse. That will drop top speed by a few km . I had a stock 2002 srx that was faster than a stock xcr.
Great awesome video jeff , change the rings . I know that Mach z can do that
I have seen SRX’s smoke all different 800’s . If you make that sled crisp it would be right in the pack without a problem
The SRX is getting tired. It’s out almost every day on the lake when the young lad takes it ice fishing after school! But it’s getting worse and worse. We will get it fixed tho!
U have a UA-cam channel but can't but a track?
The video's with the mach z have the most views
We created a monster!
Why doesn't his face move when he talks ? Wth
Premium fuel would help look for no enthenol
Get that head down lay down a bit

Been there a couple times!!! Left a few brain cells behind though…
